Works with DXVK on Vulkan
Loading the game took a little, but then it worked fine with Proton 5.0-1
The game worked out of the box on Proton. I did install additionally D9VK and it worked as well via DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Still borked
Game doesn't start. I tried it as well with ProtonGE 4.21, but it didn't help.
Works fine on Proton. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Proton-Experimental
The native Linux version is outdated. On Proton-experimental the game works now with BattlEye.
Borked by Battleye DRM
Doesn't work due to Battleye DRM.
The game start to the menu. I can create a new character, but it crashes during the loading screen of the actual game play.
The game is playable now for the first time for me with DXVK, there is a lot of stuttering during initial shader compilation, but then it works quite well. Tested in 4k on Plasma Wayland. Anticheat (EAC) is not active, there is a red message shown from time to time, but it is playable in single player now!
The game works great on Proton. Native version is just crashing for me. I installed manually D9VK to Proton and it worked as well with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Works fine with Vulkan
Game works fine with Vulkan native on Linux and on Proton. OpenGL is as well available.
Game works native on Linux. On Proton it works out of the box too. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Runs well in 4k, but only in DX9 mode. Steam store says it is DX10. Is it possible to run it with DXVK?
Worked out of the box, only had to confirm a lot of messages to install the game. I installed manually D9VK and it worked great with the DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Works out of the box. Installation is quite slow and you need to confirm a lot of messages. Installed manually D9VK and it worked great as well with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Worked out of the box. To install the game you need to confirm a lot of messages, but it works afterwards fine. Additionally tested the game with a manual D9VK install, worked great as well.
Works quite ok with Wine D3D renderer, but it stuttering a little and doesn't feel smooth. I installed manually D9VK and it worked much better with this DX9 to Vulkan translation (besides some shader compilation stuttering).
Borked
Game works native for me, but on Proton with DXVK it only shows a black screen. With WineD3D there is as well only a black screen.
Game works native for me, but on Proton with DXVK it only shows a black screen.
Borked
Borrked, the game shows only a picture and then nothing happens.I tried ProtonGE 4.20, but it didn't help.
Game works well but requires 2 Workarounds:
Install DirectX with Wine (terminal: WINEPREFIX="/home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/33350/pfx" wine "/home/$USER/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Anno 1404/DirectX/DXSETUP.exe"
Add DirectX 9 to Anno's Engine.ini file (/home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Anno 1404/Engine.ini). Add: %here is something else% 9
The game shows only a black screen out of the box. Had to install manually DX9, edit the Engine.ini and disable D3D11 to be able to play. But the game showed after some time graphical glitches and you need to restart the game. Would be nice if this game would work with DXVK or if Wine could make this at least stable.
Works without a workaround
Game sadly needs the Ubisoft connect DRM software to be able to run the game. But at least the game worked now without a workaround with DXVK (DX11).
Download from https://www.annothek.net/wbb5/filebase/index.php?file/94-anno5-exe-autopatcher-version-92/ the Addon5.exe and AutoPatcher.exe. Copy the 2 files to the game directoy. Then I created a uplay account. Linked it to the steam account when asked for. The game starts then, but it always tell me that the game addon was updated and it wants to reboot. Can't get past this :-(
Proton 4.2-1 allows the game to run almost without workarounds. To get past the black launcher window, add the parameter "PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%". Once the game is installed, you can remove it and it runs fine on DXVK. I had to run the game at least 20 times to get past the "addon installed, game needs reboot" message. But then it worked fine.
Native version doesn't work for me. On Proton the game runs well. I installed manual D9VK and it worked well too with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.

Works on Proton
In the past the game worked fine native on Linux (even with -force-vulkan), but now there is just a black screen when starting a new game. On Proton the intro video didn't work but at least I was able to play the game.
Only a black screen and nothing happens. Tested as well with D9VK, but didn't help, probably a Wine bug.

The game in the DX11 version runs really well with DXVK. The native Vulkan version complaints about old drivers and doesn't start at all.
On Proton it works out of the box with DXVK (D3D11 to Vulkan translation). Tested with RADV and the new Mesa ACO compiler on Plasma Wayland. BUT: Switching to Vulkan will show an error message about outdated drivers when launching the game, so I will rate this only Silver.
Works on Proton
I was able to play the game on Proton with DXVK (DX11) and VKD3D (DX12). Only when selecting Vulkan, the game will crash on launch.
Launch parameter: PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%
Works fine with DXVK if you add a lauch parameter like "PROTON_NO_D3D10=1 %command%"
Proton-Experimental
No workaround required anymore to deactivate DX10/11!
I bought the game on Steam, but I only get the message when starting the game "Failed to request product key from Steam, please try again later". So days later, still no product key, had to request a refund.
Works out of the box
Game sadly needs the Ubisoft connect DRM software to be able to run the game. But at least the game worked now without a workaround with DXVK (DX11).
Works
Game sadly needs the Ubisoft connect DRM software to be able to run the game. But at least the game worked now after running the launcher a second time on Proton with DXVK (DX11).
Works on Proton perfectly fine with DXVK. I disabled the Uplay overlay to avoid issues with the additional launcher (which should be removed from my point of view).

Still borked
The game is still borked. I tried as well ProtonGE 4.20, but it didn't help.
Works with DXVK on Vulkan
There are frame drops in 4K
Game works but it did crash from time to time
Game works for the first time since Proton 5.0-1 :-) Reduce the resolution to full HD might help reduce stuttering. But for me it still was a little instable and did crash from time to time.
The game works fine with DXVK. But to run the game the first time, I had to set the parameter PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 to get the game running and adjust to the native resolution. After removing the parameter DXVK worked great.
Game runs well native and on Proton. I installed manual D9VK and it worked well too with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.

Proton-Experimental
Besides the native version, Proton works now as well with DXVK (DX11).
The game starts, but when starting a new game and you need to press the space key, Proton/wine somehow doesn't send the SPACE key. At least on Plasma Wayland, I coudn't continue-
Works, needs some time to load and start playing. On Plasma Wayland I had to enforce window rules for window mode with title bars to get it working.
Proton-5.11-GE-3-MF GloriousEggroll
ProtonGE
With ProtonGE it works out of the box with DXVK (D3D11 to Vulkan translation).
Use only resolution 1280x768
Use PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 to avoid freezes during game loading
On Proton it works with DXVK (D3D9 to Vulkan translation) if you use PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1, otherwise the game will not finish loading. I've used only the resolution 1280x768 to avoid the black screen bug mentioned by others.
Game works native on Linux, but mouse movements are incorrect. On Proton just crashed after showing the start logo.
Game starts with DXVK to main menu
As soon as you try play the campaign, the game will crash.
Rename "Launcher.exe" to something else (for example "Launcher.exe.bak") then rename "Borderlands2.exe" to "Launcher.exe". Works well then in Proton.

Rename "Launcher.exe" to e.g. "Launcher.exe.bak". Then rename "BorderlandsPreSequel.exe" to "Launcher.exe". Game works well on Proton.

Native and Proton version work both fine. I installed D9VK and the game works fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Workaround: 1.) Launch parameter "-nostartupmovies" 2.) Edit config files StormPCCookedEngine.ini and StormEngine.ini in "/compatdata/501590/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition/StormGame/Config/" 3.) Add in [FullScreenMovie] the line "bForceNoMovies=TRUE". With this the game works quite well on Proton with DXVK. But no movies!
On Proton 5.13 it works now out of the box with DXVK (D3D11 to Vulkan translation). I did not try multiplayer.
Works out of the box with Wine D3D rendering on Proton. DX10 and DXVK just showed a black screen. Installed manually D9VK and the game work very well with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
The game didn't work for me on Proton, it shows a black screen and then nothing happens anymore.
Native and Proton version works fine. I installed D9VK and the game worked fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
The game worked in Proton out of the box and it was quite stable. I installed additional D9VK and it worked too, only in the training missions are some graphical glitches.
The game works fine out of the box in Proton. Only the main character is white, no textures.

Game works native on Linux (OpenGL). On Proton it works out of the box with DXVK (D3D9 to Vulkan translation).
The game starts without the BattlEye crap! Loading the game is a little choppy. Mouse movements in 4k on Plasma Wayland are choppy as well. But other than this the game runs great on DXVK!
Game works native on Linux (OpenGL) but requires MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=150. On Proton it works out of the box with DXVK (D3D10/11 to Vulkan translation).

Game doesn't work native on Linux, I cannot select anything in the start or config tool. On Proton it works now out of the box (don't know what has been changed, maybe a Mesa patch) with OpenGL, but there are a lot of rendering issues.
Works with D9VK, but multiplayer doesn't on Proton
With D9VK the game works fine on Proton. But multiplayer will not run yet on Proton.
The game works fine with DXVK, no workaround required. But the mouse is choppy in 4k on Plasma Wayland.
Works fine with DXVK (DX10 mode) if you apply the mentioned workarounds, frame rate is ok as well even in 4k tested on Plasma Wayland. For me it is silver as I had to download files, otherwise I would have rated this gold as well. 1.) PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% 2.) Rename in game folder Bin32 to Bin32Backup 3.) Download https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/257-crysis-64-bit-binaries/ 4.) Extract to game folder and rename Bin64 to Bin32 5.) Install protontricks 6.) On ArchLinux run in terminal: protontricks 17300 d3dcompiler
Runs well without any modification with DXVK (DX11 mode) and I could change the resolution. Tested in 4k with Plasma Wayland, got 40-50 fps, some frame drops, but it works quite well.
Works out of the box
Works without a workaround now for me on Proton with DXVK (DX11) as the 64 bit game executable is selected automatically. But it requires manual installation steps as of Punkbuster and Gamespy.
The game claims native Linux support, but there seems to be no executable. On Proton it works fine.
Works on Proton. I installed manually D9VK and the game worked too with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Runs fine in 4k on Plasma Wayland, but only in window mode with boarders. Framerate is good. Maybe an issue with intro videos.
Works fine on Proton with DXVK
Game works native on Linux. On Proton it works fine too with DXVK on Vulkan.
Worked out of the box very well with DXVK even in 4k, no workaround. Tested on Plasma Wayland. Mouse is quite sensitive compared to other games, but other than this it works great!
I've to undo my previous report, didn't notice that the video files are missing! So there is definitely a tweak required to get it fully working.
Game doesn't work out of the box, the DX installation fails. Even if installing it manually, the black screen will not go away.
Game doesn't work out of the box, you need to confirm several messages during install. Black screen and then it crashed.
Works great, a little choppy until shaders are compiled but then it runs well on DXVK!
Game works fine native and on Proton. I installed manually D9VK and it worked fine too with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Only black screen and some music plays, but no main menu after the start logo.
The game starts with Proton and DXVK, but the input doesn't work and you cannot to anything in the menu.

With Direct3D Support the game will not start. After selecting OpenGL it works perfectly well.
Previously the DirectX renderer didn't work for me, only OpenGL. But now the game works out of the box on Proton.
Works out of the box with DXVK. The game stutters from time to time, probably some shader compiling, but usually it runs with a good frame rate even in 4k, but feels less fluent even if it is running with 60fps.
Game works fine out of the box on Proton with DXVK for DX11 (shaders need in the beginning some time to compile, so there are a lot of frame drops). Wine's D3D DX9 renderer worked ok as well. I installed manually D9VK and it worked fine too with this DX9 to Vulkan translation. The only issue I found was that the game doesn't exit.
Works perfectly fine out of the box. I only had to reduce mouse sensitivity.
Game worked already for me native on Linux, but now it doesn't anymore. If I try to run it with Proton, it doesn't work either.
I tried to run the game on Proton, but it just crashes all the time. Even native on Linux it does crash for me now (it worked some time ago).
When running the game with Proton-experimental it works now with DX12 on VKD3D. Previously only DX11 worked on DXVK.
Proton-Experimental

Game works native on Linux with OpenGL. On Proton it works out of the box too with DXVK on Vulkan.
Doesn't work well out of the box, installer shows error, workaround is required and input works only partially.
Mouse and keyboard didn't work, only partially the controller
Cannot return from desktop to the game.
Game worked only after disabling antialias and bloom.
The game works, but it is a little unstable and can crash. At least on Xwayland the mouse cursor was blocked and keyboard input was not recognized.
Works
Game sadly needs the Ubisoft connect DRM software to be able to run the game. But at least the game worked now after running the Ubisoft launcher and the game multiple times on Proton with DXVK (DX11).
No sound in game
To run the game I had to install uplay manually with "protontricks 371660 uplay". Then the game did work quite good but there is no sound! I had no flickering graphics.
Works great as long as you do not use the option "Lighting Quality - Very High" !!!
The game works well even in 4k. Only if I activate Shadow details and/or HDR and/or Bloom, the game will crash. If I set Environment details to high or middle, the rendering is crippled, low works. So this game is a little tricky!
As the WineD3D renderer has a lot of issues, I installed manually D9VK and it worked much better even with high/ultra settings, only anti-alias renders trees incorrectly.

Game works native on Linux (but sound is cracking a lot) and on Proton out of the box.

Borked by DRM
Seems like this game could work if there wouldn't be this bad DRM thing!
DRM - crack required
Even though I bought this game, it won't work sadly in Proton until you use a crack (I've used GRID.2.V1.0.85.8679.ALL.RELOADED.NODVD). The game was stuck at loading content until I used PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1. Game worked fine then.
Game works native on Linux, but it crashes on Proton even with the parameter LC_ALL=C.
Borked in Proton

After the game got borked by the Social Club launcher (which is a useless software itself), now the Casino Heist update by Rockstar broke the game again on Proton!
On Proton it works out of the box with WineD3D. If you use PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% as a launch option (available since Proton 4.11) the game works great with D9VK (D3D9 to Vulkan translation). The native Linux version doesn't work for me as of an dependency to a old Java version. On Proton the game works out of the box.
Game will crash from time to time, just restart until it works
Doesn't work with Proton 4.11 or 5.0. If the game will not crash with 4.2 it works quite well with DXVK on Vulkan.
Works on Proton with DXVK
Game works native on Linux. On Proton it works now too with DXVK (DX11 to Vulkan).
Used HMA.exe from GameCopyWorld
Game doesn't work out of the box as of CEG DRM. It is just said, you buy a game but there is no option to disable CEG. But if you use the HMA.exe from gamecopyworld (Hitman: Absolution - Professional Edition v1.0.447.0 [MULTI8]) the game runs perfectly fine on Proton with DXVK on Vulkan.

The game starts, but as soon you want to play it crashes and you are back to the desktop.
The game start now with Proton 4.2-1, I can edit the settings in the game, but once I start a game it will crash.
The game is still crashing, after starting a game. D9VK allowed me to start the game at least, but there are a lot of graphical glitches.
Works fine with DXVK on Vulkan
Some texture flickering

With Proton 4.2-3 the game starts out of the box for the first time for me, but Wine's rendering has too many graphical glitches. I installed manually D9VK and it worked, the rendering looked much better, with this the game seems to be playable.
Sound is crackling terribly on native Linux, but graphics works, mouse was broken in fullscreen. On Proton the game works much better, sound is ok, but there are serious frame drops with Wine's D3D. Swithing in the game settings to DX9 and OpenGL helped a little.
Tested this game again on Proton, sounds seems to be improved. If I install D9VK and switch to DX9, I got only a black screen. Selecting DX8 in the game, adding dgvoodoo2 files and enabling d3d8 as native allowed me to run this game on DXVK.
Game works native on Linux (OpenGL). On Proton it works out of the box with WineD3D. If you use PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% as a launch option (available since Proton 4.11) and I enable Direct3D9 in the game options, the game works now great with D9VK (D3D9 to Vulkan translation). Before Proton 4.11-3 I had graphical glitches. Tested with RADV and the new Mesa ACO compiler on Plasma Wayland.
Works fine in 4k with DXVK. It requires the window mode with boarders workaround on Wayland (tested with Plasma) to see the output.
After moving the DLLs from Win64Shared to Win64 the game works fine. Tested on Plasma Wayland.
Game works native and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.

The game works out of the box on Proton, but you may need to disable Esync to get rid of the music loop. I installed manually D9VK, the game works, but there are too many graphical glitches for now.
The game works fine on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well without any major issue, only some rendering issues in cut scenes.

Game works native on Linux and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Sadly it is borked, especially when reading that it works with a crack!!!
Borked by DRM
Sadly borked, especially when reading that it works with a crack!!! Please remove DRM!
Use crack
Game doesn't work out of the box due to CEG DRM. Sadly, the only way to get the game running is to remove this DRM. Once this is done, the game works well on Proton with DXVK (d3d9) on Vulkan.
Works fine in DXVK in 4k. For XWayland the window mode with boarders is required to see on Vulkan the output (tested in KDE Plasma).
I only get a black screen and DXVK HUD is showing the FPS count, but there is only a black window and nothing happens.

I had to download mf-install from https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install and after running it, the game worked fine with DXVK on Proton.
Borked, only black screen.
There is just a black screen and then nothing happens. I tested additionally ProtonGE 4.21, but it didn't help.
The game works good on Proton as well. Additionally I installed manually D9VK and it worked too :-)
Works as well on Proton
Native Linux works. On Proton the game works as well fine with DXVK (DX11).
Once the parameter "-onethread" is set, the game runs perfectly fine even in 4k with DXVK. No other workaround required.
Borked on Proton
This game doesn't work on Proton, there is just a black screen, I see GalliumHUD for a moment and then the game freezes. The native Linux version doesn't work out of the box, but when selecting "Steam Native Runtime" the game works without a workaround just fine.
Game works on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Game works on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Borked
Doesn't start at all, I tried additionally ProtonGE 4.21, but it didn't help.
The game works well with DXVK in 4k, framerate is good and mouse too. It requires the window mode with boarders workaround to see the output on Plasma Wayland. The game developers are a little crazy about confirm dialogs, to enter the game I had to press more than 20 times OK or confirm some other stupid stuff.
On Proton it works out of the box with DXVK (D3D11 to Vulkan translation). Tested with RADV and the new Mesa ACO compiler on Plasma Wayland.
Doesn't work for me with Proton and DXVK, the logo will be shown but then nothing happens.
Rename the launcher.exe in the Mafia III folder to laucher_borked.exe. Then make a copy of mafia3.exe and name the copy launcher.exe. Third fullscreen mode is completely borked in my experience and the game will launch to a black screen where it freezes. Go to {steamlibrary root}/steamapps/compatdata/360430/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/2K Games/Mafia III/Saves/ and change the line in videoconfig.cfg to "0 0 1280 720 0 0 0 0". Once you get in the game you can change display settings. Disable vsync as it makes the game super slow. Do not enable fullscreen, it is an instant black screen freeze forcing. Then the game worked quite well with DXVK.
Works out of the box
Works now out of the box on Proton. Sadly there is this 2K launcher thing. But otherwise the game worked fine with DXVK (DX11) after a very long loading time.
Borked
Doesn't start at all. I tried additionally ProtonGE 4.21, but it didn't help.
Proton-Experimental
Everything seems to work well on Proton-Experimental (DXVK - DX11) without a workaround.
The game works well with DXVK. On Plasma Wayland I had to set the game into window mode with boarders to see the output. Steam Controller worked too.
'Borked
Game starts with DXVK but then there is a null reference expception error.
Game works well on Linux. But it doens't start at all on Proton, there is just the game.exe running with 100% of one CPU core and nothing happens then anymore.
Game works native on Linux (OpenGL). On Proton it works out of the box too (OpenGL). Tested on Plasma Wayland.
Game works native and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.

Doesn't work with Proton 5.13-1 or ProtonGE-5.11. After selecting Proton 3.16-9 the game started and worked fine.
The game runs fine out of the box. I just had some graphical glitches, but this might be a mesa-git issue.
The game starts with DXVK, the loading screen is visible. After that, the game crashed all the time.
The game works with DXVK in Proton 4.2-1 now out of the box. It stutters from time to time, but it works now.
Game works native and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation, but the text rendering in the menu was not ok.
Game works native (only with graphical shadow glitches) and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation, only the text rendering is borked.
Game works native on Linux (OpenGL). On Proton it works out of the box if you use PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% as a launch option (available since Proton 4.11) the game works great with D9VK (D3D9 to Vulkan translation). Tested with RADV and the new Mesa ACO compiler on Plasma Wayland.
The game loads and the menu is visible. When starting a game, then screen is only black on DXVK.
Requires "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%" to work with DXVK. Tested single player and runs well.
Game works native and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
The game loading screen starts but the game cannot connect to any server
The game loading screen starts but the game cannot connect to any server
Borked by DRM
Still borked, can't connect to a server. But game loads with D9VK, but then DRM kicks you out.
The game works great with DXVK, but strangly there is a white screen during the firework scene.
Works, but you have to wait until intro videos are finished
Without a workaround the game works but you need to wait with a black screen until the intro video has finished. Then it works fine with DXVK on Vulkan.
Works fine native on Linux and as well on Proton. It seems to run always via OpenGL.
Game works native on Linux, but it doesn't run on Proton. I installed manually D9VK, but it didn't help. There is always this long error message: "File: Impl\Block_Managers\DX9\Texture_Block_Manager_DX9.cpp Line: 143 Expr: '(((HRESULT)(hx)) >= 0) && "hr". Works native on Linux. And with Proton 5.0-2 I can play this game now perfectly well too on Proton with DXVK.
Game works native and on Proton out of the box, but Wine's rendering is stuttering a lot even though the frame rate is ok. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Game works native on Linux, but it doesn't work on Proton (crash). I installed manually D9VK, but it didn't help to get it running.

Proton can start the game, there is some music playing, but the screen stays black with DXVK or WineD3D.
Still borked. I tried to install Media Foundation with protontricks, but it didn't help. Just a black screen.
As mentioned by other, I had to do the mf-install. Plus I needed a workaround for my CPU as a Steam lauch option: taskset -c 1-8 %command%. Then the game worked perfectly with DXVK on Vulkan.
You need to install mf-install. Plus my 12 core CPU needs a workaround in the Steam launch option: taskset -c 1-8 %command%. Then the game worked perfectly fine on Proton with DXVK on Vulkan.

Works since Proton 5.13
Game seems to work fine since Proton 5.13 with DXVK (D3D9 to Vulkan).
Game works native and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation, except for text rendering.
At the first run there was only a white screen when trying to play. I killed the game, and then the game did work well with DXVK.
Game works native and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well with this DX9 to Vulkan translation, but text rendering is borked completely with D9VK.
Tried some workarounds, but still borked for me
I started the game several times, deleted winepulse.drv, added PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1, but nothing helped, the game won't start. I got only a yellow mouse cursor for some seconds.
Workaround required
As mentioned by others, I've had to create portal_knights.cfg in the game directory and copy the contant from https://pastebin.com/R7qC2ck3 to start the game.
Works with DXVK (d3d9) on Vulkan
Works for the first time for me since Proton 5.0-1
Works out of the box fine in 4k with DXVK. On XWayland the window mode with boarders is required to see the Vulkan output (tested with Plasma).

Game works native on Linux, on Proton the game is only crashing all the time. I installed manually D9VK, but it didn't help.
Works well with DXVK (d3d9) on Vulkan
Works now for the first time for me on Proton since 5.0-2
The game runs out of the box on DXVK especially on high resolutions. It doesn't run that fluent and mouse input is a little choppy.
Game doesn't work for me native anymore, but it does on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well fine with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Game works native on Linux and on Proton with OpenGL out of the box. DX9 doesn't work. Even installing D9VK didn't help to get it running.
Works with Proton
Besides the native Linux version, the game works on Proton with DXVK (DX9) as well.
Works only native on Linux but not in Proton
I was able to start the game native on Linux. On Proton it didn't work, it just crashed.
Works now with Proton as well
Besides the Linux native version, I was able to use Proton with DXVK (DX11) now as well. On the first run the game didn't work, but on the second run I was able to play the game.

The game doesn't work with Proton 5.13-1. But with ProtonGE it works fine!
Works fine on Proton
Open Source game with OpenGL, works fine on Proton and native on Linux
The game worked out of the box on Proton, tested only training sessions. I did install additionally D9VK and it worked as well with it's DX9 to Vulkan translation.
After downloading and extracting the movie fix mentioned below, the game works fine on Proton.
Used re-encoded movie files mentioned below
I've used the mentioned re-encoded movie files and copied it to the movie folder. Then the game worked just fine on Proton with DXVK (d3d9) on Vulkan.
Only Raid Mode works, main game loads infinitely.
Game works on Proton out of the box ONLY in raid mode, campaign doesn't work. I installed manually D9VK and it worked as well with this DX9 to Vulkan translation, but there are graphical glitches and monsters are not visible yet.
The game doesn't start, just crashes. Didn't test the mentioned workaround.

Game works on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK but it doesn't work yet with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.
Borked by DRM
Sadly this is another game that is borked by DRM. Please remove DRM, it restricts the game from beeing usable on Proton, even though I payed for this!
Game runs out of memory without large address aware
Use Risen2.exe from GOG
You need to use the mentioned DRM free "Risen2.exe" from GOG to get the game working. This is sadly using the shit CEG DRM on Steam!!! When using large address aware parameter the game worked perfectly fine on Proton with DXVK (d3d9) on Vulkan.
Game doesn't work for me native, but it does on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK, but the game crashed after showing the red screen of the main menu.
Works on Proton too
Game works native on Linux (OpenGL). On Proton it works out of the box with DXVK (D3D11 to Vulkan translation).
Game works with DXVK, performance was not the best but no other issue.
Game works great out of the box on Proton. As this works via DX9, I installed manually D9VK and it worked even via this Vulkan translation surprisingly well.
Rust or Rust-staging work fine native on Linux. When running it on Proton with DXVK, the Rust is always stuck in the main menu.
Borked by DRM
Another game that is borked by DRM. You cannot even see the server list to choose a server without EasyAntiCheat (EAC), the game freezes immediatly. Another sad issue is that Linux native support has been removed by Facepunch, leaving paying customers outside in the rain.
On Proton it works out of the box if you use PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% as a launch option (available since Proton 4.11), the game works great with D9VK (D3D9 to Vulkan translation). Tested with RADV and the new Mesa ACO compiler on Plasma Wayland. Only D3D10 or 11 do not work, neither with DXVK nor WineD3D.
Works fine
Do not use D3D10 or D3D11 lighting
Works out of the box
On Proton it works out of the box with WineD3D. If you use PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% as a launch option (available since Proton 4.11) the game works great with D9VK (D3D9 to Vulkan translation). No graphical glitches anymore since Proton 4.11-3. Tested with RADV and the new Mesa ACO compiler on Plasma Wayland.
The game shows an error message on start about failed to create threaded context. But it starts and shows the main menu on Proton with DXVK, but no input is possible.
Game works native on Linux. On Proton it will only crash (DX9 and DX11), it installed even an Adobe Flash Player :-(
The game works out of the box on Proton, but in the menu are graphical artifacts with WineD3D. I copied dgVoodoo2 files and set ddraw to native with protontricks GAMEID winecfg, then the game worked much better with this DX7 to DX10 to Vulkan translation based on dgVoodoo2 and DXVK, even the menu worked fine now and the game looked much better.
Game works fine out of the box on Proton. I installed manually D9VK but with this the game didn't start.
Game crashes with connected controller. But it works without, seems to be an OpenGL game.
Game works native and on Proton out of the box, seems to be OpenGL only.
Out of the box the game doesn't work on Proton with WineD3D (DX7), only a black screen in main menu after the intro video. I copied dgVoodoo2 files, set ddraw to native with protontricks GAMEID winecfg and then the game started to work with DXVK (DX7 - DX9 - Vulkan), main menu is visible and you can start a game, but after the mission video, the game crashes again.
It works out of the box on Proton. I copied dgVoodoo2 files, delete in game folder the existing ddraw.dll so that only the one from dgVoodoo2 was there, set ddraw to native with protontricks GAMEID winecfg and then the game worked with DXVK (DX7 - DX9 - Vulkan translation).

The game starts, but when after loading screen for a new game it will always crash on Proton.
Native version doesn't work for me. On Proton now the game starts in a black box on the left top, but I cannot resize the window so not possible to start the game. After installing D9VK, the game start fine and playing is possible, but not fully stable and the menu doesn't seem to work.
The game worked out of the box on Proton. I did install additionally D9VK and it worked as well with it's DX9 to Vulkan translation.

Game works on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK, but it just crashed.
Works out of the box without any workaround, even in 4k with DXVK! No issues with Audio since FAudio has been added to Proton.
The game works well without any modification on DXVK. In 4k performance is reasonably well besides some stuttering and loading issues, but it runs fine nevertheless. Mouse was a little stuttering in the menu tested in Xwayland on Plasma and sometimes the sound in videos was not in sync.
On Proton it works out of the box with DXVK (D3D11 to Vulkan translation). Tested with RADV and the new Mesa ACO compiler on Plasma Wayland.

protontricks 758330 dotnet46
Installing dotnet46 takes really long and many clicks, but once it is done, I was able to start the game. First run resulted in a crash, but afterwards the game worked well.
Works on DXVK
There are some slight loading slowdowns in the game play
Since Proton 5.0-1 this game works for me out of the box without using the .exe from GOG.
Works well. Only some shaders have had some issues but that is probably only a driver issue.
Game works on Proton out of the box, but Wine's rendering doesn't show characters, they are just black. I installed manually D9VK and it worked better already with this DX9 to Vulkan translation, characters are now visible, just some minor graphical glitches.

Tried to add KeepRes=1 in Conquests/conquest.ini, but it didn't help, game crashes immediatly. I installed manually D9VK to see if it helps, but it crashed too.
Add KeepRes=1 in Conquests/conquest.ini
Without KeepRes=1 the game crashed when loading a new game
Borked on Proton
The game starts on Proton only into a grey screen, nothing happens, DXVK Hud is visible. The Linux native version requires a workaround "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/openssl-1.0 %command%", but then it works at least.
Works on Proton
Works on Proton with DXVK (DX11) and VKD3D (DX12) without any workaround. It would be nice if 2K wouldn't enforce the game launcher on Steam, but at least the game works fine in Proton. The native version sadly requires a workaround to get the game running.

Workaround required
Install game to folder without dots, so not to the default ".steam/..." folder. Then the game works fine.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b"
I had to use WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" to get the game working, without the parameter the game crashed when starting a new game.

I paid for this game, but sadly it is borked by DRM. After using the "SNIPER ELITE V2 V1.14 ALL NO-DVD" crack, it started to work perfectly fine.
I got only a black screen, tried to skip not working intro video, but the screen stays black.

The game runs quite well with DXVK in 4k. Not sure if the dialog's can be skipped though, maybe not all input works as it should?
Game doesn't work native for me, but it does on Proton out of the box, only issue is that mouse movements are uncontrollable. I installed manually D9VK, but it showed only a black screen.

Borked by DRM
Another game that is borked by DRM. Quiet sad to force customers to use a crack if they want to use the product that they paid for.
The game works great on Proton with DXVK in single player, but you have to disable DRM (required for multiplayer). 1.) Enable Beta temporary_launcher_workaround 2.) Select the Bypass Launcher when starting the game 3.) After first running the game you will get a time our error message 4.) Just start again the Bypass Launcher and then the game works just fine.

Works perfectly fine in 4k with DXVK. Mouse is quite fast and the launch menu somehow broken without nice fonts or any background, but you can click on play at least. This game doesn't require any workaround for Vulkan apps on Wayland and it runs just fine. The only issue was that the game exit crashed my machine.
Works fine with DXVK on Proton. A minor stuttering from time to time and mouse is quite fast.
