Runs basically like Native (with Proton Experimental), Controller works, no issues with audio and stuff
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Just had to use WINED3D because of my old hardware without Vulkan support
Started first time with no problems and I played for about 90 minutes, but for some reason it won't run again.

TDP: 6
The launcher's options appear squisky and nearly unreadable. It is fixed by forcing the game to launch at a higher resolution (see full report).
External controller sometimes disconnects
The game runs well out the box but has some quirks. The first one is the launcher which won't won't show readable options at 720 or 800p. The only solution I've found is to force the game to launch at a higher resolution within Steam OS. You can then tweak the settings (resolution included) using the launcher. It's actually useful as the game won't offer you to change to a higher resolution than 800p unless you do that. As aliasing is very noticeable at anything less than 1080p and as the game is very light, I advise using this trick to set a higher resolution (1080p 16:9 or 1200p 16:10), enable 8x MSAA and then set a TDP limit of 6. The framerate won't bulge and the game will look much better as it will be super-sampled. The game is limited to 30fps as its physics are tied to framerate. However, it somehow runs at a constant 31fps, introducing constant framepacing issues. Using SteamOS framerate limiter at 30fps fixes that. Disable the OS V-Sync to reduce input lag. Once all of that is done, it's a very enjoyable experience. The game plays well. There used to be an issue with saves on Steam Deck, but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore and Cloud saves are enabled. It will be delisted on November 6th, so if you want the Steam version, un for it.
Runs as well as windows with proton experimental
Experience indistinguishable from native play.

Runs perfectly fine
Couldn't launch the "Settings" launch option. But I can change the settings in game.
Works perfectly well out of the box when installed from Steam.
Using a Dualshock 4 controller and feels responsive enough.
I even swapped some files to change the voice lines from English to Japanese. [Link to guide]

The only problem I encountered is that some voice lines during the story sequences get cut off a little bit at the end, but it might also behave like that on Windows for all I know, so I can't say for certain that's an issue with Proton.

Simply don't start
Don't working

After disabling Steam Overlay this game launches as expected and game play is completely normal.
Disabled the Steam Overlay in the General tab under the games options.
Without disabling steam overlay the game doesn't launch.
Wouldnt run, tried renaming exes and changing proton versions, still nothing.
tried multiple proton versions and tried renaming exes.
Basically flawless on the Steam Deck. Only slight hiccup is the annoying settings window on launch.
I have no experience with the Windows version of the game, but the game ran perfectly for me.
The only thing that stood out to me as a concern or 'this is not normal' situation is the text during the story sequences being faster than the spoken dialog. There were one or two lines that were either slightly cut off by another line, but I have no idea if this is how it is on Windows or not.
Runs great with GE-Proton7-41. Even better than using Proton. Runs faster on GE and doesn't have a weird but infrequent bug that crashes the game after completing or failing a stage.
Runs perfectly OOTB.
Played through the tutorial, zero issues thus far.
Works as intended without tinkering.
A good experience overall. Without tinkering and/or game modifications, the frame rate is limited to 30 FPS by the game itself, so not a Proton issue.
Tried all sorts of Proton versions & renamed .exes and still no luck.
:(
Works perfectly right out of the box using the newest version of Proton!
Only in the beginning, using initial settings. Just select "next", defaults seem to be perfect
Runs great at 60 FPS
First launch has a popup that shows your controls with some weird squished text, but otherwise fine. I'm not in love with tagging on left trigger, either, but I think that's just me. In all respects it plays just as well as the Windows version if not better.
Works like a charm out of box
Works perfectly. Played fullscreen at 4k with a wired Xbox Series controller.
Works great out of the box with little to no problems
Installs and runs perfectly fine out of the box with Proton 6.3-5
When using Sway (a Wayland tiling window manager) and switching workspaces, the game exits fullscreen and turns into a small window. But that's easily fixed by making the game fullscreen through the window manager itself.
installing dotnet40 with protontricks allows the settings menu to start, the rest of the game seems to run just fine
"protontricks 205950 dotnet40"

fix: protontricks 205950 dotnet40 launching the game takes a minute (while Steam tries to reinstall .NET), but you do get access to the settings menu :-)
Some graphics flickering when in the settings menu, the game itself runs just fine though
works with:
Proton 5.0-10:
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 optirun %command%
NB! optirun only for use with bumblebee/primus to switch between graphic chipsets.
machine:
laptop with discrete GPU2:
nVIDIA GTX 960M, 2 GB VRAM, driver 460.32.03
Tried to use wined3d &renaming the exe, still doesn't work
Game would not start without this workaround
Occasional graphical glitches with rendering certain textures like a character's glasses. Not sure if this is specific to Linux, the PC port, or just my computer. They were only minor and occasional, did not affect game play.
Had to do the workaround with changing the name of the game executable to the launcher as described in other reports, else the game would not boot up.
After that the game worked great, just beat the game in fact.
Workaround required
Go to game folder and then do "mv jsrsetup.exe jsrsetup.exe.bak && mv jetsetradio.exe jsrsetup.exe". Then the game worked perfectly fine with DXVK (D3D9 to Vulkan).
cd
into the game path and use the following to get the game to run: mv jsrsetup.exe jsrsetup.exe.bak && mv jetsetradio.exe jsrsetup.exe
. Played through the entire game.
Worked flawlessly after using the command "cd path/to/steamapps/common/Jet\ Set\ Radio/ && rm jsrsetup.exe && mv jetsetradio.exe jsrsetup.exe" in terminal.
Nothing happens when opening the game
The initial setup executable cannot start, as explained in https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/588
There you can read also the workaround: open the game folder and rename jetsetradio.exe
to jsrsetup.exe
.
You probably have to disable automatic updates for this game, as an update would break that.
Game doesnt launch at all!
cd path/to/steamapps/common/Jet\ Set\ Radio/ && rm jsrsetup.exe && mv jetsetradio.exe jsrsetup.exe

Rename jetsetradio.exe to jsrsetup.exe to launch the game properly.

Fails to load out of the box - It looks like there are some tweaks to get it to work.
