... next day, it worked
One day it doesn't work. The next it does. I don't know if this was my system causing the fault, or something that got fixed and updated, but suddenly it went from black screen on one day to working perfectly the next.

Black screen
Screen sits there black for a while, then vanishes.

Works pretty much perfect.
I tried native first but it didn't pass the black screen. However it was fine with Proton.

Switched it to mouse movement and left click.
Set it to the proper resolution however was not full screen. Didn't affect anything gameplay wise aside from seeing black bars at the top and bottom.
I found the built in controller input alone was finikcy and annoying, so I added in mouse control on the Right track pad, this caused the game to switch between controller input and M+KB input frequently.
I found launching the game with Steam's automatic launch selection would cause the game to not launch, so I switched it. The biggest problem I have is just the games controls are weird and not the fault of the Steam Deck, just the game it's self. If you can over that it's a pretty fun game to turn your brain off and play.
Works well, there is also a native version that is much the same.
Lack of VSync caused screen tearing.
Runs perfectly fine natively, no issues whatsoever

Game works native and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked with this DX9 to Vulkan translation, but there are some wrong shadows.
