Every time after around 15 minutes of playing on highest settings FPS suddenly dropped from 50 fps to 20 fps, so I decided to switch off anti-aliasing. Worked pretty well then.

Plays well with max settings with AA set to normal; as previous contributor mentioned, high AA results with unsteady frame rates
Inputting my Uplay password required the touch screen
Max anti-aliasing drops frame rate as low as 30 FPS with maximum settings
Default brightness at 5/10 was too bright, but 4 makes it much darker

Controler was working but the game only gave instructions for keyboard and mouse. I had to turn the look X and Y axis sensitivity down to 1.
This worked perfectly with these launch options. I had to use Steam Tinker Launcher to side load the new Ubisoft connect EXE. It only seems to want to launch using GE Proton, but when it does it works perfectly. Not a problem. The controler is working, but the game never sees it as pluged in, but it works all the same. Because the help never shows up for the controler buttons I would sugest that this is best played with the keyboard and mouse.

Used u/TiSoBr's method for bypassing the Ubisoft launcher password prompt, found here: https://old.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/vovl7c/just_a_quick_piece_of_advice_to_enjoy_ubisofts/ (remember to select "Remember Password" in the offline login prompt) - there was some oddness in Ubisoft Connect trying to start the full launcher in offline mode, but exiting and restarting the game solved the issue.
Deck default setting is Mouse & Keyboard Input, need to manually switch to a Gamepad-style input both in Steam's controller config as well as the Xbox 360 Controller setting in-game.

The game menu is visually bugged, making it impossible for the options to be seen properly as the background is so white I can't see the text.
Save games are not synced from Ubisoft. I started playing it on Windows and wante to try it on Linux only to discover my save game missing.
The Ubisoft Client updates itself on first start and only worked after updating after I updated to the latest GE-Proton

protontricks --command "wine64 control" 260210
, go to game controllers, shuffle controller to Connected
and Connected (xinput device)
to see what works
Use protontweaks to access the prefix's game controller options
Xbox controller does not work, use protontricks --command "wine64 control" 260210
, go to game controllers, shuffle controller to Connected
and Connected (xinput device)
to see what works. Sometimes xinput works, sometimes I need to disable and reenable the xbox controller.

Works
Game sadly needs the Ubisoft connect DRM software to be able to run the game. But at least the game worked now after disabling the Ubisoft overlay on Proton with DXVK (DX11).

Disabling in-game overlay in Ubisoft Connect is necessary, otherwise the game launches to a black screen.
I had an odd crash, but I suspect that's because of faulty RAM and unrelated to Proton.
Audio sync fix: PROTON_NO_ESYC=1 PROTON_USED_WINED3D=1 %command%, Crackling not fix
controller worked as a mouse

Game downloads uplay update ok, but fails to launch game exe when using defaults. When using PROTON_USE_WINED3D11 the game will launch, but go to a black screen. This happens regardless of whether the uplay overlay is enabled or not. Game downloads the latest uplay client which forces the overlay on with a nag message each time.

Failed. Game does not start mainly because Uplay will not connect

Uplay install works. The game starts to a black screen.

The game can't run without the Uplay client. The Uplay client shows the "service unavailable" error. Therefore the game is unplayable.
