First launch took around 60 seconds, no other issues present in first 1h of gameplay.
about 5 crashes within whole playthrough
janky physics (especially while jumping) causing mouse + keyboard not working anymore

DXVK latest for launching
If you have high ms change refresh rate the game
Works well out of the box

Starts on a black or transparent screen
I have tried several changes suggested here, but the issue is not resolved.

To play ultrawide
Needed to disable the steam overlay to play the game. Game will freeze on start otherwise.
subtitles are small
sometimes all voices dissapear
after some hours of playing lags are obsersving until restart
You probably need a fixed fps to avoid the janky physics. But I enjoyed it without that fix :)
One of the most underrated games of all time, and it works flawlessly on linux.
Works perfectly fine on my system. Only my mouse input is way to high, but thats a problem of the logitech G pro wireless on linux anyway.
gamemoderun DXVK_FRAME_RATE=75 %command%
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Risen/data/ini/ConfigDefault.xml
When, for example, jumping on the hill the character is slingshoted up in the air.
Change fps in ConfigDefault.xml to your monitor refresh rate:
<Timer AverageFPS="75.000000" FixedFPS="75.000000" MaxFPS="75.000000" MinFPS="75.000000"
Then block fps to your refresh rate in steam launch options DXVK_FRAME_RATE=75

Risen runs well on the deck and with communicty controls it controls just perfect on the deck. Use the Fairly Functional V2 controls and you are good to go. No bugs that I ran into in 3 hours, Risen on the go is great on the Steamdeck!

The Play button in Steam does nothing. It'll say "Launching" for a few seconds, then stops.
The game is broken.

Had to adjust the screen resolution, everything else was fine.
Changing resolution moved the game partially out of the screen. A restart fixed this.
Only played a minute or two to see if it would run and it seems to work flawlessly!
Works Perfect Love it to Play now on Linux!
Game being a little laggy, FPS dropping for a second or two, then getting back to normal
Works perfectly out of the box even with small adjustments for UW screens.

Had problems starting the game at first. Game was starting but closed after a few Seconds. Logs saying that dlls where missing. Today i started the game again, and it began to install directx-stuff, which fixed all of the problems. Dont know if this was a steam problem, but if you experience the same...waiting did the trick for me i guess ?
The game is playable from start to finish, but you might experience issues when grabbing onto ledges.
Everything about the game runs fine apart from jumping up onto ledges and the like. Your character disappears from the screen and you won't be able to move. Pressing esc won't bring up the menu and the only fix for it is to quick-load a saved game. The only exception in which this doesn't occur is if the ledge is flat but it may still happen, though being rare.

File validation loop
I forgot to add this to my previous report, I verified local file integrity, steam then downloaded a 800 B file that failed to validate.

The game worked two days fine, but all of a sudden, the game doesn't launch at all, and is stuck instantly crashing.
Two days ago it ran fine on ubuntu, then I try to play it today, and it doesnt work. I did a fresh install of ubuntu 21.1, (Previous was 21.10 also, installed 3 days ago) and installed steam, then risen, and it still does not launch.
No problems found
This is an updated report. I validated game files and now game seems to run flawlesly. No issues found!
Please ignore my previous report here, since the issue was solved by validating game file and probably was on my side only.

After pressing play, no game window/launcher opens. Game eventually exits.
While running the game was unsuccessful (no window/launcher opened after pressing play) it could be stopped from within the library, or it exits eventually by itself.
Tried running using current Defaut and then Experimental Proton versions, then Proton-6.19-GE-2 (Glorious Eggrol's proton fork) to no avail yet.
Haven't try to change any other setting yet. No tinkering was done beside trying some different proton versions.
Works well out of the box occasional crashes may happen on long play sessions (encountered about 10 times in 70+ hours)
When you try to climb, character gets bugged and only loading last save game helps you get out. Happens on Windows aswell. This is an issue with VSync. To solve it go to ".../steam/steamapps/common/Risen/data/ini/ConfigDefault.xml" and edit the 'Timer' setting. I set all to 144, because that is what my monitor is set to:
<Timer
AverageFPS="144.000000"
FixedFPS="144.000000"
MaxFPS="144.000000"
MinFPS="144.000000"
>
</Timer>
Thanks to biubiuty, who posted the solution under a YT video.
Sometime when climbing edges the game would freeze, loading a savegame with the F9 hotkey fixes it tho. Since frequent saving is encouraged not a big problem. (I did use the unofficial patch for the game, no idea if there is a connection)
At first, pulseaudio failed to play the sound. This was a one time problem though.
Game ran fine, though on the slow side on this potato-ass laptop. Even so, playable.
Everything runs out of the box
I just needed to use Proton 4.2-9 instead of 5.0-9 because inventory seems to lag a bit when mouse over the itens.
Completed the whole game. Everything works perfect.
I did not experience any problems playing the game except an occasional jitter but nothing noteworthy.
Do not know if PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE is needed I just enabled it.
I did try the game using D9VK option. To get proton to use D9VK I had to drop d3d9.dll into the games bin directory but using D9VK seemed to be worse and the game was especially laggy the the first cave with the gnomes.
