Freezes at main menu
I have the same issue with X3 Terran Conflict as well.
Using the PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 launch option I was able to get the intro movie to play (I was able to get X3: Reunion to work with that option as well), but the main screen always freezes.
In gamemode the game config and main exe will not load.
The game runs great but requires you to run sudo steamos-readonly disable and then install pacman -S lib32-gtk to see the configuration menu. Otherwise runs totally fine even modded with litecube.
Go to the game directory under Lib. There delete the "libz.so.1" The game then starts.
Protontricks fixes seem to have fixed the no sound bug I've seen before from X3 TC. Also, the listed tweaks also fixed the video files.
vcrun2015, wmp11, devenum, amstream (also tried to install quartz, but apparently wmp11 contains it already as it failed to install)
Music wasn't the right pitch, seemed to be decreased by a bit. Correct speed, wrong pitch. Possibly codec issue? Other sounds including ship voices seemed to be OK though.
Further testing is needed to confirm, but performance seemed better than native at first glance thanks to the 64 bit binaries. I also need to test modding, especially Mayhem 3, which doesn't work at all with the Linux native version plus a wine prefix used to run non-native binaries for modding purposes. Perhaps it'll work better when run through Proton?
More testing needed, but I think it's good now!

Doesn't work on Proton, only black window and then it crashes. With D9VK I can see at least a starting screen picture before it crashes. If using the native Linux version, I get only the error message "Your graphics drivers do not have the required texture compression support". But if I select the "Steam Linux Runtime" the game works just fine on Linux.

Doesn't work native on Linux nor on Proton, only black window and then it crashes. If I install D9VK manually, I can see at least a starting screen picture before it crashes.
