Maybe it's my settings but the game is unplayable for me as it is now. I'm sure that with a different setup the game works because I have played it some time ago in some way.
Deadliest Warrior expansion does not work at all
On native there's no sound and it keeps saying "not responding" and with Proton in crashes on the menu.
FPS dips here and there.
You need to change the controller layout, to one of the community made ones. Also tinker with the in-game graphics to get stable framerate. Some of the texts are hard to read. Otherwise runs good.
I thought I was going to be able to play by just pressing "Play" after the download. But I had to got with the "Proton Experimental" version. After that, everything worked normally.
Perfect experience
Native is not working, but proton does work perfectly fine
Proton works great. Native version has no sound.
Played the game with both linux-zen and linux-tkg kernels, no problem in both cases. Really stable and high framerate, no stuttering.
The game won't open with proton

Comparing to windows experience it feels like the game is unresponsive.
The game worked in Proton out of the box and it was quite stable. I installed additional D9VK and it worked too, only in the training missions are some graphical glitches.
