Performed benchmark, achieving frames of >400 FPS.
Upon using Alt+Tab, fullscreen is disabled and resolution defaults to 800x600.
I don't understand why this game is marked as fully unsupported because it works perfectly plug and play.
Crashed on the boot logos when using Proton 9. Fixed using Experimental.
gamemoderun %command%
Proprieties > Installed Files > Browse... > delete grid2.exe and grid2_avx.exe from the game install folder (steamapps/common/grid 2/). Also have to delete the compatdata folder of the game (steamapps/compatdata/44350/).
And then "Verify integrity of game files" so they're redownloaded.
It takes a few minutes to boot after this

Crashed on the boot logos when using Proton 9, changed it to GE Proton 8-3 and it worked flawlessly. Beat the entire game with no issues.

Crashes right after loading into the menu if you use Proton 9 or Proton Experimental. Just switching to Proton 8 isn't enough: you also have to delete grid2.exe and grid2_avx.exe from the game install folder (steamapps/common/grid 2/) and then "Verify integrity of game files" so they're redownloaded. You may also have to delete the compatdata folder of the game (steamapps/compatdata/44350/).

40FPS, 8Watt
Played locally with Switch and PS4 controllers

Played 15 minutes with everything by default. Put graphics to Ultra. All worked fine.

This plays better than any other arcade racer on the deck. Smooth 100FPS+ on high no problem.
Turn off frame limiter in steam, set scaling to linear. That's it!
Can't believe how well it runs.

I cranked car detail to high. Steady FPS throguhout.

Games works perfectly out of the box (only tested singleplayer)
This performs with proton better than on Windows. I get more FPS while being stable. And there was an issue on Windows wherein Alt+Tab-ing breaks the fullscreen, but not here.

gamemoderun MANGOHUD=1 %command%
Incredible performance. Ran on big picture mode 3440x1440p ultrawide resolution @ 144Hz no problem. Dualsense controller working fine. Using Wayland
singleplayer works fine, multiplayer not tested
On Proton Experimental 7.0 and NVIDIA there was a problem with the game HUD during race, but on Proton 8 Stable this problem does not occur: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/issues/3168#issuecomment-1576638645
It also looks like the DRM can prevent the game from starting - verifying integrity of the game files or reinstalling the game again helps.
With more recent Proton versions, the game simply failed to launch, no errors or anything. With this version, it worked instantly without any trouble.
Game is not playable with Intel Arc GPU, it's crashes or have such graphical issues that is umplayable
During the first session the game was fine, however booting the game a second time make the HUD glitch. To get around this I switched from Proton Experimental to Proton 7.0-6
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Only game works as should on GE-Proton7-33. On newer version black screen.
Given the appropriate graphics settings (VSync etc.) it's perfectly smooth. Was able to play at maxed Ultra settings and 144Hz refresh rate.
RaceNet consistently refuses connections made to it via Proton, so Global Challenges and Rival data isn't actually accessible outside of Windows/Mac. The rest of the online play still works perfectly fine.
Seems to suffer from a possible regression bug on Proton Experimental, as the in-game lighting would frequently block out everything else from view and many textures and objects would not render properly during track events. This was fixed on my end by using the stable Proton 7.0-6 build instead.

O jogo está lindo, rodou de primeira no Steam Deck, podia ser considerado Nativo!
Nota 10
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Goes slower than what it's expected to do, need to reduce graphical levels
The game runs very well out of the box with the only yet quite big issue of the HUD going haywire and basically blocking the whole screen while playing. The only solutions to this is to either disable the HUD via the game's options, or start with the aforementionned launch option that will severly hamper your performances. I wish this game still had cockpit view because it would have made the first option not much of an issue.
If you want to play this game, just run the game, and you are done, don't need to do any other thing, cause I haven't seen any glitch for months while playing this game on Linux.
- With defaults it failed even the pregame installs. (also using PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%)
- With recent GE's pregame install went trough, still failed to start the game: "Game initialisation error" "Failed to create D3D device. Check thast the latest graphics drivers are installed"
- Proton versions -provided by steam- 7.0-4 and also 6.3-8 were able to launch it properly and launch options are not necessary either. The game itself runs without issues.
Funcionou perfeitamento com o proton GE 7.33. Usando versões mais recentes acontece bugs gráficos.
Works great with quite steady 60FPS. Minor lag spikes while loading, but that's fine to me.
Playing on high vs ultra is night and day; ultra with high car reflections keeps a pretty steady 60 FPS
Minor freezing when loading in menus
No lobbies were occupied, but was able to join an open one with no issues
Runs perfectly OOTB.
Game runs with zero issues OOTB.
Works fine most of the time
After some playing (maybe an hour and a half), the audio quality dropped noticeably and didn't recover
Played some splitscreen with 2 xbox controllers and had no issues
Some audio issues after longer game sessions. Other than that, the game is totally playable now that the DRM problems have been fixed
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
It works out of the box, but I don't know why Mangohud doesn't work
Game runs perfectly without any tinkering required with the exception of using a custom proton version.
Noticed some audio crackling but very rarely. Might just be my own setup.
If returning from sleep mode audio is borked. Most sounds are played way too fast and others crackle.
Multiplayer doesn't work.
For Offline play it honestly runs quite good, mostly solid 60FPS on maximum settings, looks beautiful on the small screen.
Everything Just Works™
As stated abundantly, Valve got DRM working, hence this game now running perfectly without any sort of crack. You'll earn achievements, too! Xbox One gamepad also working perfectly (as with previous versions).
