Be careful, this game still have broken/mispositioned HUD bug. Simply load previous save that still have normal HUD position will fix the problem(Experience: I just noticed it HUD is missing at save 30 because I thought it was intentional from the game, then I check through all the previous saves and ended up back to save 22 because I spent time playing without HUD for too long).

Works out of the box using Proton-GE9.25

I tried many of the suggestions in this page, only gamemoderun __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command% worked
gamemoderun __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%
Installed it just fine, run the usual Vulkan shaders. Went through the first config window, after which the game failed to launch. Further attempts failed silently without even launching the first config window again. Tried tinkering as suggested by some other reports without success. I then used "gamemoderun __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%" on my nvidia system and it suddenly started with seemingly no issues. Shoutout to the user silici for providing this solution.

Game would minimize when alt-tabbing in fullscreen
Game can crash on the final boss due to too many incapasitated civilians Game will freeze and hang after exiting
Ignoring the fact you can brick your save at the literal final boss, as those are also Windows problem, the game is largely playable on Linux from start to (mostly) finish. I also highly encourage grabbing the Patcher from NexusMods to fix the game from freezing after it's closed as well as other fixes.

With my config : doesn't run with proton experimental nor proton 9, but run fine with proton 8. nothing more to configure or download.

Power draw is also relatively low at around 10w. Steam Deck battery can manage it for 4 - 5 hours.

PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1
Used Winetricks to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Wine. 32-bit is required for this game to start!
Install this game before selecting Proton Version. Tried selecting before install and it didn't work!
This game requires a 32-bit version of Wine and for some reaosn will not start without it. It also requires the 32-bit nVidia Driver to be installed (or whichever 32-bit driver is required for your card) or it will fail completely with no DirectX support shown. If using nVidia then use
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt update
sudo apt install libnvidia-gl-YOUR_DRIVER_VERSION:i386
Apart from one graphical UV Texture error this game runs as smooth as butter on the given hardware ;)

Installs but reports DirectX 9.0c not installed!
PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1
Installed perfectly and configured Vulkan Shaders when first run but did not start. Every launch of the game reports that either the Graphic Card or the Drivers do not support DirectX 9.0c. Installed DirectX via Winetricks but made no difference. Game refuses to run even when Proton is backed to 9.0-2 :( For some reason this game is broken on my system :(
Graphics GPU is nVidia 1050ti running on Intel 2500K with 16Gb of RAM using Ubuntu 20.04.06

PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
It works just fine as long as you put the above mentioned launch options. I've played most of the game just fine.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" is only needed if you want to install the gold filter restoration mod ( which uses the asi loader ).
Error: This game requires a Directx9.0c capable graphics card. Your card or driver does not support Directx9.0c 3D Acceleration.

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b" %command%
установка русификатора через Run EXE

Installs and plays out of the box
Just used the latest Proton (9-2 at time of writiing). My Stadia controller was recognised and functions perfectly.

Works on Ubuntu 24.04
Do note that on Proton 8 it was not working. Now with Proton 9 it works correctly again. There is a video recording to showcase and give an idea how it works here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THZB1WDURp4
Game runs great!

works perfect

Incredible saga, i recommend it happily, sure some corners were uneven when it was first released but the director's cut is very good
The game takes about 15 seconds to close properly, other than that the game ran fantastically
Its actually insane how well this game works considering the fact that its a Wii U version of an XBox game ported to Win 7 then played through a compatibility layer, when connecting and/or disconecting my 8BitDo Controller the game would pick up on the new configuration immediately without having to restart it unlike other native tested games
If you're having issues starting the game find the dot exe file in it's instalation folder and enable full permissions for each category, other than that, everything is fine

The game works flawlessly. No graphical glitches unlike windows 10/11.
Tried to play game on windows 11, there are some graphical glitches, sometimes the fps drops. No such issues using Proton on my Linux system. There was one time when the game crashed after long play session, no big deal. The game works flawlessly, does not require additional settings.
PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Game appears to start but will not open

Just as good as it was on windows
It crashes due to taking out the long line of enemies before choosing your ending, but that issue is due to the game and not to Proton.
Great time no tweaks required

Perfect. Aside from a weird ~15 seconds game's executable freeze after you quit the game. Seems to be Linux-specific, since there's a mod for that. Doesn't hamper the experience though.
Attempting to launch the game siently fails, no error displayed.

After tinkering, other than constant stuttering, the game is playable. It also did stutter on windows, but not as much.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
The audio didn't work or was borked for the first 10 minutes or so. After restarting the game with SSAO turned off there were no problems with audio.
Coldn't get past intro splash screen. DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 didn't make a change. Had to add PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 to even go past the intro screen. Game was very stuttery. After turning off SSAO and Texture Filtering to Trilinear it became less stuttery (still not perfect) and audio glitches disappeared.
They game wouldn't close itself. After turning off SSAO it closes itself normally.

Runs perfectly out of the box
Game runs with proton experimental without additional configuration
Runs like a breeze. No issues, no tinkering, great performance.

Game menu is a stutterry mess. Game crashes in-game.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 gamemoderun %command%
Tried with lot of options of proton, old and new versions. Menu is stuttery mess and when somehow the game is launched the game goes into stutter and then crashes.

With TDP 6w you get 50-60 FPS.
No mixed controls. Ether Pad or KB/M
Some transparent bars showng with the HUD

Works like a charm
Played around 30 hours. Game is very stable.
Works perfectly on my machine

DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=70 gamemoderun %command%
Some suttering in new areas - therefore limited framerate to 70 via launch options
DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Audio loop once

Screen space reflections are weird
40 fps
DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
The game stutters a lot without the launch options
The game will be capped at 60 fps with the launch options, but it's better than a stuttering mess.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
Stuttering when moving the mouse. Lowering the polling rate resolved the issue.
