Used Proton 8 and Proton 9 (Beta).

Appears to run fine; previously reported issues re: video and crashing did not occur.
Tested with both fullscreen and windowed.

Туториал, челлендж - полёт нормальный.
Мультиплеер не играю, а так по всей видимости всё хорошо.
Borked
Shows "Arc System Works" logo and then crashes instantly. Cannot view the main menu. Same happens with Centralfiction, Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift under the same Proton version. Used Proton 7.0-5 Flatpak community build.
tried using proton ge. there was no difference to the default proton
I tried proton ge and steams default proton settings. both ran the same. Videos dont work at all and the game seems to freeze for a bit when it tries to play a video. When you open the game the intro video tries to play and the first frame loads then it just freezes on that frame for around 30 seconds, after which it will load the first menu. Unfortunately it seems like it may try to play another video before you get to the main menu. The first menu you get to just has you press a to enter the main menu, the game will freeze for another 30 seconds or so before bringing up the mai menu. from there it works without issue. I was able to slect arcde mode and play through the whole thing without issue. solid 60fps and zero graphical issues.

6.1-GE-3 GloriousEggroll
Used Proton-6.1-GE-2 for video support
Game crashes without disabling esync (and fsync if you have that)

Some scaling issues at 1080P (this was the same for Windows) the game ran fine on my playthrough.
The game crashes at 720P with vsync on, but other settings up to 1080P works with vsync on or off. Alt-Tab on KDE 5.20.2 works.
"PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%" was needed in order for me to get to the main menu and the rest of the game.

Use only resolution 1280x768
Use PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 to avoid freezes during game loading
On Proton it works with DXVK (D3D9 to Vulkan translation) if you use PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1, otherwise the game will not finish loading. I've used only the resolution 1280x768 to avoid the black screen bug mentioned by others.

Proton 5.13-1 seems to be doing something, but it's not enough.
As of Proton 5.13-1 the game starts and even shows the title screen, but once you press start, the game shows the loading screen (with the animated emblem at the lower right corner) and sits there "loading". I figured I wait for it to load in case it's doing something in the background, but closed it after 20mins. I even used the MF tricks from Centralfiction but no luck. I tried the other tricks mentioned, but the results were the same. Went to an earlier version of Proton and the game simply crashed on me. Overall I had better luck with Proton 5.13-1. Maybe there's a missing proton tricks that will get it to fully load. I'll keep trying.

Like others players, i have needed to tweek arround with Winetrikcs/Protontrics,but the game work pretty well [...]
/!\ DISACTIVATE ANTI-ALISAING, DO NOT setup 1080P if anti-aliasing is activate ! That lead to a black screen.
So, i have go on the version 4.11 of the stock Proton because others players signal that version work with Protontricks (and yes, i have try others prot.vers. with Pro.Tric., without any luck).
Installed Protontricks ( https://github.com/Sirmentio/protontricks )
Start one time the game and exit (if it's not chrash ^-^), this will populate the game selection in protontricks gui.
Run in a terminal to launch gui windows of Protontricks with that command : protontricks --gui
select from the list the game << Blazlue Chronophantasma Extend 388750 >> (ignore the error messages)
Here check << select the default wine prefix >> and validate.
On the next windows, check and validate << run wincfg >>
One the new window go to tab << application << and check (or select) the version of Windows is << Windows 7 >>
Go in the tab << library >> (<< Bibliothèque >> in French) and add the follow dlls : quartz, devenum, wmp9, xact, xaudio2_7 (native, builtin), but somme values like wmp9 (and maybe some others) is not available do not replace him by wmp, and validate. (source found here : https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=33426 ) (i thing the more important in the list is xaudio2_7, other seem to be optional but i'm not sure) For the next step, go in << Install Windows dll component >> and install the fallow dlls : quartz, devenum, wmp9 and xact. (If error message like the first one show, don't worry) For the sanity check, go again in << run wincfg >> to verrify if something has changed in the settings we have made hearlier, if yes you know what do you do ^-^, if not exit. Set in game startup argument : PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 to desactivate esync.

After installing BB CPEX, used Proton 4.2-9 with Protonfixes (as mentioned in other reports) and Esync disabled. Also installed the optional Winetricks requirement via apt-get. To run the game in a resolution other than 1280x768, disable anti-aliasing. Otherwise, everything else seems to work.

The game starts, but crashes after showing a red logo.

I added protonfixes to the game in order to install it easier, but the game still plays uncomfortably. the resolution has to be 1280x768 and changing it to anything else makes the screen 'go borked' for a few seconds and then close the game. Opening the game again usually results in going back to starting resolution. The game has to be played with Esync off, or else it can get stuck loading. Changing any of the graphical settings also makes the game close, but they seem to save. They can also be manually changed using the game's config files inside the wineprefix, by removing the file on drive_c/user/steamuser/My documents/My games/bbcpex (or similar). Other than that, the game plays at full speed and it seems that all singleplayer content is playable. Haven't tested MP yet.

Use protonfixes as suggested in previous reports. Also sure to also disable Esync or else you'll be stuck on infinite loading screens. After I disabled anti-aliasing, vsync and bloom in settings the game runs very smoothly.

It was a pain to make this work. First, install protonfixes, it's easier than protontricks and you don't have to configure anything, just follow the instructions in the git page. Then install the game and protonfixes will start doing things. If the game doesn't start don't panic, the fix script takes A LOT and It will use internet conection. Then, steam won't detect that you are playing the game anymore and no window will open. Just relaunch the game and it will work. Even online works. What does not work It's antiliasing, that will make the game black screen or crash. So as a sumary: 1) Install protonfixes 2) Be patient with the first launch 3) Enjoy the game with no Antiliasing

Needs tweaks but after that the game works , online was not tested but local VS works as intended. Proton 3.16-7 and up recommended
Set WINEPREFIX to /replace_with_path_to_steamapps/compatdata/388750/pfx and set this variable: WINEARCH=win32 after that use winetricks to install: devenum quartz wmp9 directx9. Create the folder on the prefix: pfx/drive_c/windows/syswow64
Compile FAudio as described in this page (make sure you have FFmpeg-dev or your distro equivalent to get WMA support) https://github.com/FNA-XNA/FAudio/wiki/FAudio-for-Proton#part-1-building-faudio
Replace the library with the one you compiled inside the folder steamapps/common/Proton 3.16 Beta/dist/lib and lib64 respectively. Now the missing sounds work.
Disabling Esync is optional but i noticed that having it enabled may cause the game to get stuck loading screen to the main menu. The frame rate is good staying at 60 pretty much all the time but enabling anti aliasing makes the screen go black.
The game is designed for 19:10 (1280x768) so if you have a monitor with that resolution great otherwise you can select an "Arcade Mode" in the display option putting black bars on the screen or just stretching the image, keep in this causes distortion on the sprites and HUD, this is more of a problem of the game and how it was designed, not Proton.
Controllers work but they need to be plugged-in before starting the game

Crashes after logo

The game starts and you see some logo, but it crashed then immediatly

crashes after arch system logo at start up

chrashes after arc system works logo

Game crashes at the point when intro video is going to be played (possibly because it is wmv format?). Tried different Proton launch options and disabling overlay.

Shows loading screens, but crashes after beeing done loading

Shows some menus, then crashes at a Video?
