Multiplayer works with all features as wished
When bought and playing through Steam. It works as you would with with all features

No Multiplayer possible when using Wine and Lutris

Esync and Fsync disabled to display the ubisoft connect launcher correctly
Worked perfectly out of the box. Shame about the uplay integration, but that too worked without any issues.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Tried this a while back and it didn't work at all, but seems to work now. Without the launch option it launches in black screen though.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Water had some glitches (blue flickering squares
Game does not exit on its own , have to click Stop in Steam to fully close it
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Multiplayer is not working. You can invite players to your lobby or join their lobby, but when starting the game you will get disconnected after a few seconds.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Used PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% as recommened by others with default proton 7.0-4 and it worked fine.
Note: the installation also installs UBI Soft Connect as well. Which even though I tick remember me on the log in asks me to log in each time.
Update 3.0 (September 7th 2022) works out of box on Proton-7.0-4
Update 3.0 are great - now game is 64bit and uses dx11.
No login issue or any other problem on Proton-7.0-4
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3289#issuecomment-1247326864
No extra step requires.
30fps Half rate shading
You have to enter a CD Key. This can be obtained by highlighting the game icon in your library, pressing the menu button and selecting Manage->CD Keys.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
With default settings it gets stuck on the looking for patches screen. With proton experimental it crashes out at startup
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
You now need to set PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% to make it work, otherwise it hangs on startup.

This game worked just fine, since 6 Sept. update with the new ubiconnect services, game is not reaching menu anymore,
Does not work anymore
Work perfectly. The only problem is the Ubisoft Connect interface that can't remember your password.
Works perfectly with no tweaking required. Alt-tabbing is faaster than on Windows
While it took some time to get it running, following the short guide on Github made it relatively easy!
Initially the game did not run, but after installing another game, which ran updates on drivers, Anno 2070 would run as well!

Message box without content - Game aborts
I started Anno 2070, the update finished successfully, after a while a small message box appeared which had no contents except for a OK button. Hit that, nothing else happens for some seconds, then the game stops.

The game appears to work fine and everything looks as I remember it from Windows back in the days.
The initial start of the game failed, restarting Steam resolved the problem.
Runs great with Proton 6.3-8
Game runs perfect, first start may hang on uplay update, just restart and update runs fine.
Installed Anno 2070. Run it. Uplay crashed and closed. I run it again. After that. Everything works.
Works pretty much perfect out of the box. game launches through uplay perfectly fine.
noticeable audio crackling, issue is intermittent. there is probably a fix for it but personalty i wasn't bothered enough to even look for it

Uplay update hangs
When you hit launch it opens uplay and attempts to patch uplay which is no longer in existance. Third party launcher again keeps you from playing a game you bought.
Works without a workaround
Game sadly needs the Ubisoft connect DRM software to be able to run the game. But at least the game worked now without a workaround with DXVK (DX11).
Worked out of the box
On first start after installation, a message was displayed that proton has stopped working. I just pressed "Wait" and in a few seconds it continued working again. Apart from that, the game runs excellent!
No difference to Windows. Works Perfect.
Used to not work for a while, but now it works again out-of-the-box.
Runs flawlessly out of the box

Not working since UPlay update
Game used to work no problem after manually updating it, but now with the new UPlay it just tells you the services are currently not available :(
Did not work a small dialog box appeared with an 'Ok' button and no text.

Black screen
After starting getting black screen and nothing shows up (waited for a while)

I had some issues at first, the update reboot loop happened. I deleted the file update patcher and it started to work fine.

DLC Initialization Infinite Loop Bug
The game keeps wanting to restart in order to finalize initialization of DLC. It might work without the DLC, but I gave up at this point.
Another, possibly final update : I was able to install the Deep Ocean expansion by downloading and running the autopatcher on my windows partition, then letting it install the expansion, quitting the game, and then copying the entirerity of the Windows Anno 2070 folder onto the game folder I had on Manjaro. Pretty much runs flawlessly now, the expansion is indeed installed.
Update : I was not able to install the Deep Ocean expansion. Installing it through Steam completely removes all text (???), and if I try to install it through the ingame menu, the loop bug happens. Can't escape the loop bug by downloading the offline patcher either, I have to uninstall the expansion to be able to play the game. No problems with it otherwise.
Worked perfectly out of the box. I didn't experience the black bar bug. I'm using Eggroll's latest release.
It doesn't start at all. Not even a black screen or an error. Tested with both Proton 5.0-7 and 5.8-GE-2-MF
Only at the first start, afterwards with D3D11
If you switch to another programm and back, everything gets downscaled and the mouse triggers view move nearly everywhere. At least at problem on a 4k screen.
This game needs around 300% the power than on windows, had to switch to a machine with a decent dGPU, but it than ran 55fps with 1440x2560 and High settings
You have to launch without D3D11 at first start, afterwards with it. If autopatcher fails, restart until it succeeds. If autopatcher misses version.txt
, create it. Runs fine except the switchings issues, never crashed.
