Native seems to be broken, at least for me. Use Proton.
Had absoulutely no issues finishing the whole game without any thinkering.

Had no issues whatsoever with the Native version, performance and graphics were fine as well. Used an Xbox one gamepad while playing docked with no issues. If you're looking to buy, would recommend this version over the newer Remastered which seems to have some performance and compatibility issues through Linux. This one looks better anyways in my opinion.

If the native version of the game does not launch, then simply launch it from the Steam (Runtime) instead of Steam (Native)
If you, like me, could not launch the native Linux version of the game when trying to launch it (the game just immediately closed without indicating errors), then just do the following. Check which version of Steam you are using: Steam (Native) or Steam (Runtime). When you install Steam on Linux, you always get both of these versions of the application. I usually use the Steam (Native) option everywhere, but the game did not launch in this form. Then I just launched Steam (Runtime) and the game worked right away without any problems. Everything turned out to be simpler than I thought.
Slight inaccuracy in mouse movment but not that bad, still very playable.

Native version seems broken (crashing upon launch), or at least not running on my machine. Forcing Proton Experimental made the game run perfectly

Nativo. Rodando sem problemas.
É só instalar e jogar. Nenhum trabalho ou procedimento adicional.

Worked out of the box without any issues.

Native version has some artifacts (the lighthouse is all black on distance, sometimes characters skin looks weird with wrong lighting and shadows)
Maybe the problems of native version are related to NVIDIA drivers. Switching to the newest PROTON version solved all the issues

It didn't run natively. I had to force Proton Experimental to get it to launch.

Keyboard glitchy but Xbox cntrllr works
Using keyboard the game would kick me out every minute or so to the main menu. Using Xbox controller worked good.
There doesn't seem to be an option to save

Life is Strange indeed.... because the newer GE-Proton8-14 stopped working on NixOS 23.05, including the GE-Proton8-16 version. I was forced to downgrade to Proton 4.11-13 to get the game to launch again. This is why I created this second report about the same game...

Maybe you will cry... :'3

Native version is broken
Crashes on startup
Had to install libxcrypt-compat
to fix error while loading shared libraries: libcrypt.so.1
error on arch (endeavourOS)
El juego no se ejecuta en nativo, se tuvo que utlizar la version 7.42 de proton GE para que funcionara.
Occasional FPS drops

Didn't start/ launch in Native, because a bunch of libraries was missing (some of them weren't available in pacman nor in aur).
Also didn't work for the newest Proton Version, nor Experimental. Tried all Proton-Versions descending and the latest Version with which LiS launched was 4.2-9. Some Previous Versions also worked, but didn't tested all of them, so im not sure which ones.
Switched to Windows version, it runs better
Works fine without tinkering but running the Windows version improves battery life a lot
TDP 8W
Works perfectly.
I was able to play this game without any issues.
Default is extremely inefficient.
- TDP: 6W
- GPU: 700 MHz
- FPS: 40
Pixelated, sometimes unreadable, fixed by changing to Proton 4 or Native
Steam Deck Controller not recognized. It is rather random.. changing Proton version might help, as the startup script gets reset. Really annoying.
FPS hickups, but playable
I had to tinker a lot.
Native versions are inefficient and laggy.
Proton versions newer than 4 do have broken textures and pixelated fonts/texts.
I do not understand, how Valve validated this to be compatible with the Steam Deck.
Out of the box it is not really playable, after tinkering it is okay (if you are lucky and the controller is recognized).
You need to use power options to increase the battery life, otherwise the game just smokes you battery.
Forcing Proton to run the Windows version of the game increased my battery life from 2 hours to 4.5 hours. It also decreased APU temps from 90° to 70°.
The Linux port of the game runs too hot and is too inefficient with resources to be run on the Deck well.
Life is Strange is an amazing game. Experieincing it on the steam deck is on another level.
The steam deck can run all the graphical options on the highest settings while maintaining a steady 60 fps. It's setup for a great experience for a first playthrough or for replaying it again. No control settings or anything needed to modify this installation to get it up and running.
I did run into an empty setting in the graphics area but I'm not too sure what that was meant for. Other than that I saw no bugs.
Works out of the box
works perfect with all settings on high
800p to 720p, capped at 30 fps
I upgraded my old ATI Radeon for a AMD RX 550, and now it works great, after enabling feral gamemode into steam options.
Impossible to play, due to everything being RED
Everything was RED. Even the initial credits and the text.
I had like 20~30 FPS with any graphical setting. (Low-Mid-High all had the same FPS.)
Worked Natively with some minor graphical glitches.
Did not run into any bugs. Everything went smoothly
Overall good experience. No major troubles, occasional framerate drops not painful because of type of gameplay
In some scenes there were framerate drops
Game froze once during time rewinding. Putting system to sleep and waking it up solved the problem
Controller wasnt vibrating even if it can in other games

I don't know if everyone will have the framerate problem, but if they do, it's near unplayable.
I had to use a similar trick to what is posted under BioShock Infinite (Native). Find the DefaultEngine.ini file under the game's config folder and bump up the PoolSize. I use 5000 on a 6GB video card. I didn't have to do any of the other things mentioned in that report. I got a smooth 60fps (vsynced to my monitor) after only getting a lot of stuttering every time textures load and 20 to 30 fps with dips even lower before I edited the ini file. I'm using proton to run this due to the nVidia glitch that washes out the textures in this game. (characters look like mimes under strong lighting, etc.)
