The game runs really well, I did not expect any difference in the performance I got in windows with the one on Linux.
I was able to play the game from start to finish with my friend. We didn't encounter any issues!

Platinum experience already with Proton 9.0-3
Overall Experience:
- Description: The game runs very well at 60FPS+ without any problems, completely out of the box without the need for any adjustments.
- Average FPS: 75 FPS
- Problems: The game does not present any problems and can run smoothly.
Proton Versions:
- Tested in the following Proton versions: Experimental, 9.0-3, 8.0-5, 7.0-6, 6.3-8, 5.13-6, 5.0-10, 4.11-13, 4.2-9, 3.16-9, 3.7-8
Proton Version Recommendations:
- Best Performance: 9.0-3 or Experimental
- Minimum Playable Version: 7.0-6
Tweaks
- Launch Options: None
- Configurations Changes: The game opens in low resolution, but this is not a problem or error. You can change the resolution to 1920x1080p in the menu, enable V-Sync, and unlock the FPS (or set it to 60 FPS locked).
Error Messages (crash):
- Error: None
Additional Information:
- Info: Below version 8.0-5, you may start to experience FPS drops. The older the Proton version, the more issues you'll encounter with this game. Therefore, I strongly recommend using version 9.0-3, or at a minimum, version 8.0-5, even if you can play with version 7.0-6.

Game runs fine. Videos play without audio by default but this can be fixed with a single protonfix command.

Videos play without audio out of the box. Running protontricks 21690 wmp11
installs the necessary components to fix this issue.

Local splitscreen co-op works fine.
Works great, including split-screen co-op

You just connect a second controller and start the Splitscreen. On the Steam Deck display it's a bit difficult, but on a external monitor it runs fine
I don't know, why valve listed the game as not compatible. The game runs great on the deck.

The only part that was weird (?) is that there was no option for 4K in the settings, so I selected 3200x1800 as closest and used FSR (WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 MANGOHUD=1 %command%), which worked perfectly, but then midway I went into settings and there was now the option ingame to select 4K, not really sure that the deal was, either way it was not a big issue, otherwise worked just fine

Absolutely perfect.
Same as. Perfect.

splitscreen coop works perfectly
also a good candidate to implement gyro controls if you want

Just make sure to use Proton GE, with regular proton it wouldnt start up for me

First story FMV doesn't play correctly. Skip to avoid freezing the game.
Split screen with a bluetooth controller works as expected

game is playable. Opening cutscenes is not watchable due to lack of video and stuttering rest of the game is a breeze
crackling durrig a few in-game cut scenes and also durring benchmark
small issue with audio crackling durring cutscene and first cutscene shows no picture or stutters

Install wmp11
Proton 8.0-5

DXVK_ASYNC=1 WINEDDLOVERRIDES="xlive.dll=n,b" %command%
wmp11 (Windows Media Player 11)
Install with protontricks
FMV's weren't working without the Windows Media Player 11 component installed
While not required installing Maluc's Patch (I haven't tried Rick's but it should work) is not a bad idea. And making sure the Launch Command is used. Installing Windows Media Player 11 through protontricks should help if FMVs aren't working. Launch options aren't needed if not using one of the patches.

Sometimes joining players that uses mods? Might crash the game. Overall it is playable start to finish with whoever the player is.
Tried with External Controller or With Steam link (if you want to play it that way) it works really well.

Fully functional, excellent co-op experience.

fps limit for oruboros fight with flamethrower.
in resolutions other than native res there will be black checkerboard squares after alt-tabbing
intro video didn't work correctly - had to watch on youtube
matchmaking works well

Played the game from start to finish, did not have any problem, it runs perfect!

Game runs at solid 60fps on the Steam Deck. I switched to controller layout from community (the first one on the list) I would highly recommend this game. It runs great and should be verified IMHO.

Controller became unresponsive amid game on couch coop with 2 controllers connected.
Game pad became unresposive from time to time on dual controller setup. Closing the game and reopening it solved it.
Game playable at 1080p on co-op with the steamdock.

works ootb. played through the entire campaign with a friend. no problems!
Played the entire game through co-op

And in case you were wondering, the AI is an imbecile by design, it's not proton's fault.
There was a fix crash when fighting one of the boss, but it sems to happen on Windows as well, changed the resolution from 1080p to 900p (I played the game docked on my TV) RE5 Steam version crashing at end of 5-1.
Bound L3 to both L4 and L5 to increase comfort, also made holding L2 the gyro enable button
When pressing the Steam button, there appeared to be a second window open but attempting to switch to it did nothing, nor did it cause any issues at all
Didn't have a second person to thoroughly test but I connected a Switch Pro Controller and it seemed to work just fine, one player using the Steam Deck Controls and another using the Pro Controller, in both the main game and the Mercenaries mode.
It seemed to just work for me. Played through the whole game. I vaguely remember a single pre-rendered cutscene at the start of the game not playing properly, but apparently I never once switched to Proton-GE so it must have fixed itself.

The only thing that's broken are pre-recorded FMVs. This is easily fixed by installing Windows Media Player 11 via ProtonTricks:
- Install the game
- Run it once to initialise Proton
- Open ProtonTricks (can be installed from Discover on Steam Deck, and from FlatHub for any other Linux distro).
- Choose the RE5 container --> Select the default wine prefix --> Install Windows or DLL component --> wmp11 (Windows Media Player 11)
- Enjoy the game :)
RE5 runs extremely well on Linux with very little tinkering. Enjoy!
Can't go through the Capcom and Dolby logo, tried every proton versions and fixs, it just don't work
Any of the fixes don't work, can't pass the Capcom and Dolby logo
go on with Windows maybe

The title screen says "press any key" to continue, but if you're using the default gamepad layout, only the Start button works.
Occasional brief hitching when changing areas or entering/exiting buildings.
It was a private session with a friend in a far away country and connection was amazing thanks to the new official patch.

Ironically, last update (which removed WFGL) appears to have broken the game.
Worked fine originally. Now it spends a few moments downloading new files, but then won't launch.
works right out of the box no issues
get a pal for the coop, the game improves drastically that way
Funziona perfettamente senza fare alcuna mdifica. La modalitá online non è più disponibile, ma il multiplayer locale funziona ancora.
Forse è possibile giocare online su windows tramite meshnet di nord vpn e la modalità multiplayer LAN
everything just now works out of the box
Game fails to get past the Capcom Logo with default Proton. Works fine when swapped to Proton Hotfix.
Played with someone using a Windows PC with the latest update. Worked perfectly fine, no issues.
Game fails to get past the Capcom Logo with default Proton. Works fine when swapped to Proton Hotfix. Played 3 hours online with a friend, had 0 issues after the fact. Had to reinstall the game after updating due to previously installing the Fixes mod.
Games for windows was removed so there is need to do any tinkering, all works out of the box
Game works since Capcom removed GFWL requirements
Capcom released an update to remove GFWL and add local multiplayer - now game installs and runs fine with default settings - no tinkering required anymore.
works fine taking out GFWL!
