Compatibility: Proton hotfix
The game start windowed, but it can be fixed in game menu
Can't find binary from normal Proton launch

Low FPS for hardware
Had to select Linuxnative beta for native version to work. The native version uses OpenGL which performs worse than native games using Vulkan. It never uses more than 50% of my GPU and the performance for my hardware is pretty low, still enjoyable though. Proton performs better with less stuttering but the difference isn't as big as I expected. Proton version utilizes the hardware better.

Low GPU usage and low FPS for hardware
Had to select Linuxnative beta for native version to work. The native version uses OpenGL which performs way worse than native games using Vulkan. It never uses more than 50% of my GPU and the performance for my hardware is pretty low, still enjoyable though. Haven't tried, but may perform better with Proton. However, every time I change the compatibility tool the game needs to be reinstalled, which is pretty anoying for a 200GB game.

Idk why but when you dont have a fast internet conection an the game deletes itself twice its a very good exerience. Otherwise its runs ok.
If you install the linux beta and enable the linux runtime in the propertys ARK just deletes itself from your Dive. Happend twice to me.
Long loading times

none
Just works.
just works
So, you need to switch to the "Linux Native" branch, same place you switch to "beta" servers or whatever in properties of the game in steam prior to launching. Now, I ran into the same issues many reported previously of not having the executable game file anywhere. However, what ended up fixing this some how was I installed the "Proton Hotfix" branch of Proton, let it install and fail working, then switched back to "Linux Native" no proton or compatability and it just works. It works greats. I'd love to get a new server going we need more linux native people playing.
Works flawlessly.

Switch to "linuxnative" beta
Missing ground texture & glitchy dust particles / water particles
Multiplayer works fine on an unofficial server
Tried launching normally and also with almost every proton version and the farthest i got was menu music then the game and steam crashing.
Afterwards i found out theres a "linuxnative" beta and that worked.
Gameplay is fine but looks terrible due to missing textures & particle effect glitches.
I only played on Fjordur so the textures may be fine on other maps.

Now Borked
Game no longer works for me. Linux native no longer shows, although there is a beta test branch, but the last time I used native, it looked horrible. Hope they fix soon as I own it, regardless of what they say now.

Water reflections
Crashed after character creation
Same as SP experience.

mangohud %command% -w 1920 -h 1080 -r 180 -f
Game Crashed a few times when Joining a Server, which means you can't join the same Server for roughly 5 Minutes because your old Connection is still on the Server, thus, blocking you from Joining.
Game didn't lauch for me with the Reccomended Steam Settings due to a BE Issue, switching to Exp. fixed the Issue.

the loading screen gets SMPTE color bars (like those old tv screens). But it goes away when game starts
The game does not launch, nothing else to say

Other than the debug loading screen, this game works perfectly fine out of the box.
Not bad.
Dedicated server wise, it is very difficult to set up. I did it by running the game to set up the dedicated server, adding ShooterGame.exe (in ShooterGame/Binaries/Win64) as a game on Steam (so I could use Proton with it), and running it. There may be a better way, though.
It's ARK. Nothing else I can say.

Normal servers connect fine, but if you have any sort of mod involved, go get a cup of coffee and maybe take a cat nap, it easily adds 20-30 minutes of loading time even if on SSD. Once its loaded I have no issues but loading mods to actually enter the servers is painful.
Do not try modded online on this game unless you are super patient.
Works out of the box

WINE_FSR_OVERRIDE=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=1 %command% -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -preventhibernation
Cutscenes have no sound (i do not care for them)
Cutscenes have no visuals (i do not care for them)
Had the same setup on KDE Neon and multiplayer was completely gone, on EndeavourOS everything works well.
The game ran extremely laggy with Proton Experimantal, was barely playable. After switching to Proton 9.0-2 game runs better than on windows. Used launch options i found here earlier, only removed -high (you can add it if you dont want to do anything else on your pc, this just makes the game high priority)

Perfectly fine playable Game for Linux. At least the Singleplayer. I didn't test multiplayer.
gamemoderun %command%
For me, unplayable on medium - very high. Only low worked for me. Otherwise i had huge lags
First launch in my Singleplayer Game crashed while loading into the Character / spawing. Second launch worked perfectly fine tho.
For some reason having a TV test loadingscreen. But it's not that deep. Doesn't affect the Game experience.

For some reasons loading screen is like a TV test picture. Also game starts windowed rather low resolution first start, but you can just change the settings.
FPS right after start were like 120-135 for me on rather high settings.

A good game, easy to play. also DINOSAUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cannot join any servers, none are listed
I didn't had any issues, I could easilly connect to my own MP server, I could join my friend modded session and I could host with no issues.
Works out of the box for me.

It works, but there are so many problems with the default configuration that I don't know how to solve or if they can be solved.
Most inventory text is too small to read at a glance
Default graphics looked pretty grainy, anything with fur or feathers was a pixely mess. Holding a tool in front of water causes the reflections underneath it to render awkwardly, same applies to reflections rendered behind foliage. Grass will ocassionally "refresh", where it will suddenly move the patches to different areas, which is jarring.
Connecting to a private server by IP requires going into desktop mode to access Steam's server menu, as far as I know.
The game works, but by default looks pretty bad and doesn't control very well on controller. The controls are clunky in the menus due to a bunch of odd button choices for navigation that render playing unintuitive. For the visual issues, you may be able to fix that with the in game options (but I have no clue what options would make the game look decent in this scenario) and the controls probably should be completely rebound to use keyboard and mouse inputs with the trackpads.

BattlEye issues. Perfect otherwise.
"Network Failure Message: You have been kicked by BattlEye. Reason 'Disallowed Program [Virtual Machine]'" This game's BattlEye implementation appears to be 'proton enabled' by Steamworks. Possibly a regression? My BattlEye is working with other games.
Perfect without BattlEye involvement.
Loadingscreen not showing correctly

Proton version way better than native linux, also runs better than on native windows version

I've tried so hard, yet got so far. Performance is bearable but awful. If you want to play on Linux, do it, but no mods on online servers.
Game loads much slower than on windows, freezes while loading anything. Playing with mods on online servers makes you wait 30+ minutes to join servers.
Mostly freezes for so long that i have to force it to crash, occasionally crashes by itself.
It works but with alot of stuttering, freezing in interface. With mods barely playable.
Occasional stuttering but mostly playable even with mods enabled.
Ark is miserably optimised but hey, there are dinos!

Performance is the same as on Windows 11 and the FSR additions to GE-Proton8 do wonders too!
WINE_FSR_OVERRIDE=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=1 %command% -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -high -preventhibernation
Using Proton Experimental (Steam default), loading screens and video playbacks display a debug texture. ProtonUp-Qt can help easily install GE-Proton8-27, which fixes the issue.
On Windows I even get frequent random PC restarts and only in this game, but the same machine on Linux Mint seems to be running stable

The games runs well under Linux, no problems at all!
My Main System (it should be listed on the side, however I do use Fedora 39 now)
Ran great, no issues besides being a massive 300gb+ game!
My Laptop
Ryzen 5500U
Vega 7, 16GB
Ran decent for such hardware, a playable late 20s to 30s-40s fps!
Steam Deck:
Works okay, just you may need to verify files if you run into issues like me!
Constant LOD changes on textures even when standing in a small hut looking at the wall.
Out of the box it was crashing every time after half a minute or so with 'Assertion failed: SeparateFileAtEnd...' error. After discovering the 'PROTON_LOG=1 %command%' launch command the newly generated log gave me 'Too many open files' error. After raising the open file limit for my user it started working. If I tried running with 'PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%' I was getting about 10 fps both on Epic and Low graphical settings, additionally the graphics was unplayable due to a yellow-ish hazy tint on everything. I couldn't see pebbles on the sand. Switching to Vulkan I had to drop back to Proton 7, otherwise I was getting 'dx11 feature level 10...' error. Videos don't work for me on Vulkan in Ark, including loading screens, only seeing a test pattern. Only played about half an hour so far.
Switching windowed to full screen took a few different selections before going fullscreen.

Poor performance. Game is not well-suited to gamepad controls. Tiny text and UI throughout, even with max scaling set in the options.
30 FPS cap
Pretty much everything except the main menu and some in-game notifications are unreadable.
No sound during intro video with GE-Proton.
Videos don't play with default Proton.

Runs better than native, the performance, FPS, smoothness, etc. is better than on Windows 10
Playing on my own dedicated server with Battleye disabled; have not tested Battleye
Battleye disabled

It just works. My performance was even better than that of my friend on Windows with superior hardware.
Multiplayer works great, even when playing with a friend using Windows.

gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -- mangohud %command% PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% -sm4 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -preventhibernation
Mouse wasnt looked => gamescope required
Mouse not locked
Startes only once
It breaks after first launch

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% -sm4 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES
Game runs great. Have bunch of mods installed - no problems ...

Works great except for some minor issues
Not fullscreen by default - can be changed in game settings.
At startup the loading screen hangs even though the game has loaded. Pressing Alt-Tab and then cancelling it brings you to the main menu.

Loading screens missing textures
Game crashes after a couple of minutes
