Must configure to run as Windows 7 through winecfg. Besides, I had to install the Unreal Engine 3 and DirectX9; the installer of those programs are between the game files.
The game will not run if you don't install Unreal Engine 3 and DirectX9 in the wine prefix that you're using.

Successful Installation and Gameplay of Alien Breed: Impact on Steam Proton with Lutris on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Introduction: I recently undertook the task of installing Alien Breed: Impact on my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS system using Lutris, specifically version v0.5.16, and Steam. The process involved the installation of DirectX9 and Unreal Engine 3 through Lutris before launching the game for the first time. It's worth noting that attempting to run the game solely through Steam without Lutris proved unsuccessful. However, with Lutris as the intermediary, I achieved a seamless installation and gameplay experience.
Installation Process: Lutris played a crucial role in streamlining the installation process. The platform allowed for the pre-installation of essential components such as DirectX9 and Unreal Engine 3, ensuring that all necessary dependencies were in place before launching Alien Breed: Impact. This step proved to be essential for the game's successful execution on my Ubuntu system.
System Configuration: Operating System: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Lutris Version: v0.5.16 Game Source: Steam Proton Version: 6.3-8
Results: The game performed flawlessly, running in very good quality without any noticeable issues. Lutris effectively facilitated the integration of the required components, allowing Alien Breed: Impact to run smoothly on my Ubuntu system. The collaborative effort between Lutris and Steam ensured that the game functioned at its best, delivering a high-quality gaming experience.
Conclusion: In conclusion, the use of Lutris proved instrumental in overcoming compatibility challenges and successfully installing Alien Breed: Impact on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. The preemptive installation of DirectX9 and Unreal Engine 3 through Lutris ensured a hassle-free gaming experience, while attempting to run the game solely through Steam proved to be less effective. This report aims to contribute valuable information to the ProtonDB community, highlighting a successful case of game installation and performance optimization on a Linux system.

For the GOG version with the Heroic launcher use winetricks to install the PhysX runtime otherwise the game will not start
Use Winetricks to install the PhysX runtime otherwise it won't start.
When running it for the first time you will see some dialogs installing DirectX libraries, not unlike you see on Windows. No input is necessary and the process finishes without a hitch.
This is not a problem per se, but may confuse people who'd think they're using a Nintendo Switch or PS Vita.
Afterwards, the game justs runs, as good as if it were native.
The first time you start the game, a secondary Windows installer for DirectX redistributables appears. After going through the installations, everything goes smooth.
Perfect on steam deck
Works perfect. No problems to report.
When you start up the game for the first time, it'll take a few minutes to set everything up, but after that it'll start within seconds.

The game first-time launch setup is slow and seems to hang on multiple EULAs and installers, disabling all Steam Deck inputs (including the Steam button) except the power button and the touch screen. The touch screen must be used to proceed (alternatively, the game can also be launched from Desktop mode to use trackpads instead).
The game defaults to the adequate resolution, runs consistently at 60fps and features full controller support.
Press play and enjoy
Played solo and co-op, no problem at all
It works, just give the setup some time -- UE3 "Preparing to install" took 1-2 minutes on my machine.
Finished game without issues
no issue.

Works very much as expected
If you're running a tiling WM (xmonad), make sure to set the WM name to LG3D. WIthout that, game wouldn't run for me.
works perfectly
For some reason it doesn't run on Proton 5, I changed it to 4.2 and it worked really fine (I think that it's a problem with Unreal Engine 3)
I have to downgrade the Proton version to 4.2 to run
RAS au top!
Everything seems to be working as far as I can tell. I didn't notice any problems.

Running perfectly out of the box.

Worked out of the box. To install the game you need to confirm a lot of messages, but it works afterwards fine. Additionally tested the game with a manual D9VK install, worked great as well.

Runs very well. Tested single player only.

Works very well out of the box

Performance feels smooth, DS4 works, graphical settings appeared to be configurable (gamma, quality)

Runs perfectly

Finished the game without problems.
