While not perfect it work well enough to be played on linux. Some of the graphical glitch can be fixed by using opengl and window mode.
While using opengl some texture where missing
Not able to be in fullscreen only window at 2048x1536

Rendering is totally borked in OpenGL, switching to Direct 3D in games video options completely fixes the issue.
Full screen is hit and miss on my system
My system required me to switch from OpenGL to Direct 3D rendering in order to play without artifacts, and sometimes I need to swith between windowed mode and full screen with Alt+Enter in order to skip black screens on startup, but a part from that it is as good as on windows.
With a couple of console commands, you can play this classic as good as new!
Some heavy latency and popping out of the box, though changing the sound system to WaveOut in the options menu can massively alleviate this issue.
Garbled graphics out of the box, but can be fixed by typing these two commands into the game's console: /gap_iDepthBits=24 /ApplyVideoMode()
Much like my contribution to Classic The First Encounter, the same console commands listed above will fix the common graphical issues just fine. So no need to switch to DirectX windowed.
I had to edit PersistentSymbols.ini to not see some objects through map, there is a guide to this on steam.
on fullscreen, the screen is a little cut on the lower part and on windowed it is completely broken on 1440p, just black screen
after some time or after bad loaded quicksave (probably?) there could appear weird fps drops only when I move a mouse, game restart helps for that.

(GOG version) Works good after enabling DirectX render
Default render shows black in fullscreen - Alt+Enter to window mode, than in appeared menu set video render to DirectX, play without problems fullscreen or window mode.
Played GOG version with Proton 7.0-1 and enabling DirectX render.
Everything worked

Everything works, just had to turn on vsync (opengl) for the mouse to not drift
When spinning my mouse in a circle, the crosshair would drift towards a corner, to fix this turn on vertical sync in the video settings (only happens with opengl)
Sound latency is high with the default driver in use. Switch to the WaveOut driver in the game's audio settings for lower latency.
Black screen on startup after the Croteam logo. Press Alt + Enter to toggle fullscreen back to a window, and you should see the menu appear. You can then enable fullscreen in the game's graphics settings and it should work as usual.
Make sure "Mouse acceleration" is enabled in the Players & Controls options menu. Otherwise, the mouse sensitivity setting will do nothing.
Tested with the game's OpenGL renderer.

It's impossible to open the console with an AZERTY keyboard layout. As a workaround, switch to an US QWERTY keyboard temporarily whenever you need to open the console.
Tested with the game's OpenGL renderer.

Works fine with D9VK
With D9VK the game works now fine, it is fluent and there are now graphical glichtes. Better than WineD3D!

no problems whatsoever

No issues

Working perfectly out of the box, including editor and modeler.

Game breaking graphical issues, as well as input lag.

The game runs fine in 4k in OpenGL mode. There are some graphical glitches that need a fix.

OpenGL mode demonstrates various texturing issues. Direct3D mode does not work. High input lag. Not really in a playable state.

some objects are transperant

only works on OpenGL with graphical bugs, directx shows an black screen. run smooth

Same fix for depth buffer as TFE.
