DX10 mode didn't work and crashed when getting into the game.

Alt tabbing causes the game to quit responding and must be closed.
Installs dependencies on its own and runs without much hassle. Alt tabbing does cause it to go unresponsive and must be closed, so don't do that.
Your Serial Number is incorrect. Please reinstall The Call Of Juarez.
steam steam://rungameid/3020

Do not use the DX10 version, use the 'Player Call of Juarez' version using DX9. The DX10 version crashes on boot.
I really suggest using the layout I posted. It has all the keys mapped that you need to properly play.

Игра пройдена без глюков, багов или тормазов.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=144 DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
missing fire texture problem was fixed by using Proton-GE
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=144 gamemoderun %command%
missing fire, there's no fire texture. when you go into a place that supposedly has fire in it, you will get fire damage even though you could not see it. the cutscene in chapter 3 where a saloon is on fire also affected by this.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=144 is for capping the framerate so it have smoother frametime.
A community controller layout could be helpful if anyone makes one because lots of things to change.
installed with direct x support
When first scene were loaded, game is crashing and you can only exit game from steam menu.

Immediatly after lauching a message appears saying that my serial key is invalid
No problems whatsoever on Fedora 35 with Nvidia proprietary drivers.
Worked perfectly with all settings at max
Runs perfectly as far as I can tell.Install then play.
Game runs perfectly out of the box (Proton 6.3-4)
No issues
Only tried single player.
Shadows need to be "off".
Setting the shadows to anything but "off" in the in-game video settings causes the loading screen (after New Game) to get stuck at 99% where it keeps stating "Loading..." forever and it never proceeds to "Press any key to continue.".

Runs perfectly in DX9 mode, using DXVK / D9VK (default). I easily get 150 fps at max settings, at 1920x1920 resolution.
A lot of dialog audio is cut just a moment the end. Just a fraction of a second, but it is noticable.
With most recent Proton, Wine and DXVK, it works now flawless. No more shadow flickers, or any other problem. Game in DX10 mode starts, and but the screen is blank, but one can hear the menu sounds, and even load the game. DX10 benchmark crashes. There might be occasional stutter due to shader compilation, but using Mesa ACO on AMD cards really helps a lot, and game is very very smooth. Also it works fine with various aspect ratios nicely.
This will fix foliage shadows

In DX10 you'll see only black screen. In DX9 mode using D9VK game works with good performance without crashes but with distant shadows bug. Maybe it looks not perfect but it's comfortable to play and i finished the game like this. If you'll choose to not use D9VK then you'll see less FPS and more buggy shadows, but it'll be still playable.

Game works in DX9 using launch option "PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%". Without the D9VK launch option there are graphical glitches. DX10 does not work at all, no video just a black screen.

crashes at launch on DX10 and goes to black screen on DX9. Proton 4.11-4

Some very distracting shadow glitches with both wined3d and d9vk, however the latter more than doubled my fps so might as well enable it. The only solution is to disable dynamic shadows. Thankfully most of the game's shadows are baked in the textures so visually it's still decent enough. I finished the play-through with no other issue.

Works perfectly

Working perfectly out of the box.

Works out of the box with Wine D3D rendering on Proton. DX10 and DXVK just showed a black screen. Installed manually D9VK and the game work very well with this DX9 to Vulkan translation.

DX9 is playable but the shadows have graphical glitches. DX10 version has no video just a black screen, different launch options made no difference.

Various shadow artifacts on ground, and flickering when moving. But even with that it is playable. Setting "Shadows Off" in settings remove these artifacts, and game still looks pretty nice. Not super nice, but nice.
No other tweaks needed.
New levels and saves load very slowly for a game of this age. More complex modern games load much faster than this one.

DX10 version don't start. but DX9 run out of the box

Runs perfectly

Fantastic performance maxed out on the vanilla binary. The directx10 launch crashes the game. It could be a whitelist candidate if they fix the dx10 support

Runs great,

no

Gives a DirectX error on launch
