Seems to work with no tinkering required.

GoL used to run well when I was using Windows 10, but on Linux, the performance got hit significantly. I used to play it around 100-140 fps, but now on co-op it averages around 40 fps. The fps is worse on online co-op also, I am playing with a friend who uses Windows, maybe that's causing another issue?
For me, the performance is worse on Linux somehow. I don't know why, but I used to get 100+ fps on Windows 10, but here it averages around 40-70

If you don't whant to suffer stutter wou will need to force Eperimental for fixt 60 fps, if not game will stutter like hell

When using Linux Mint Native Steam app the game stutters a lot (Low 720p). On flatpak version runs great (High 1080p). Tested on Thinkpad e14 Gen2 Ryzen 4300u.
Its works like a charm with proton experimental.
Minor stuttering
The floor disappeared from underneath me and I fell to my death. My brother (playing co-op online with a Windows machine) did not have the problem, and survived despite standing on the same platform.
We had to try to start the online game multiple times at first, but I think it was because I was running Discord in the background with a webcam attached to my Steam Deck uploading simultaneously. I was the host, and as soon as I stopped streaming my video we stopped having problems.
I did not go through the whole game in multiplayer. I didn't have someone locally to play with. I was using remote play together with a second Steam Deck also in SteamOS just for testing purposes.
Overall, a good experience. It even runs well with a Steam Deck docked in 4K, depending on the level complexity.

The suggested fix for the stuttering issue has little if any effect. The game is till unplayable.
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json:/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.i686.json %command%
Massive stuttering
Great on Steam Deck. Use Launch Options to fix shader cache stuttering. Plays well with only minor slowdowns.
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json:/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.i686.json %command%
If you don't change launch options, you will stutter severely until you have run through the levels and cached all the shaders.

AMD RX 6650XT. Practically unplayable under AMDVLK due to stuttering, presumably shader recompilation. Using the VK_ICD_FILENAMES variable to force Mesa 22/RADV instead was a drastic improvement. Still some brief stuttering, most often at the beginning of cutscenes. Doesn't notably impact gameplay.
My save file was under .local/share/Steam/userdata//35150/remote instead of 35130 where it would normally be expected.
Stutters quite alot

Shader compilation stuttering
Note: Playing at 1280x800 will cause a vertically-stretched image. Use 1280x720 instead.

Stutter presumably due to caching shaders
Didn't recognize input with regular proton 7, but glorious egg roll 7-10 worked well. Stutters due to shader caching or something. Seems to improve with time.
Now game works good
No window mode
Framerate downs to 1-2 fps when high textures are loading. From time to time.
Played with Proton 6.3-8

Runs great out-of-the-box. I've completed the game with a friend without any issues
There are minor stuttering related to shader compiling that fade away quickly
Full play-through with a DS3 controller
Almost unplayable during the first run through a level because of stuttering.
Works now with 6.3-8
First run through a level is marred but massive frame-rate drops. Subsequent runs are fine.
Uses Valve's CEG DRM which didn't work in Proton before. Requires latest Steam Client Beta and Proton Experimental.
Require Proton Experimental and there is too much stutter in game to be enjoyable.
Significant stuttering
You need to check the game's file integrity if it keep crashing at launch. I assume that proton modify the game files (may be related to CEG stuff). You need to check files integrity each time you clean your prefix.
Proton-Experimental
CEG DRM works with Proton Experimental and Steam Beta as today. Game starts too long, but works great after that.
Works with v1.03 [MULTI6] as below. Thank you very much, Vortex Acherontic. Still a great game after all this time.
Sometimes weapon firing is glitchy, but no big deal.
CEG free exe: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light v1.03 [MULTI6] Fixed Files from https://www.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_lara_croft_and_the_guardian_of_light.shtml
The game doesn't start
Game doesn't start
Would not launch the game
Still borked
In Game folder Rename lcgol.exe and replace with NODVD crack lcgol.exe
Some stutter at the start.

SteamCEG
Use Lutris to play the game via Wine Steam or cracked DRM free EXE
The game won't launch

Crash at start in "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light\lcgol.exe"
Tested with Proton 5.0-7, 4.11-13, 4.2-9
Seems need patched "lcgol.exe" (DRM?)
