All attempts to run the game (Launch options, Proton versions, etc.) failed
-nostartupmovies
All attempts to get the game up and running failed, including ones that worked on my laptop running the same OS but with an AMD GPU, it's most likely an issue with Nvidia drivers for Arch-based systems causing the game to be unable to launch

Except one crash, runs fine, stable FPS, over 90 most of the time
It crashed once

Works perfectly fine.

Works pretty much perfectly, surprised it's rated silver!
Game only crashed once when exiting to main menu
I only suffered from one crash in my playthrough which was when at one point I tried exiting to the main menu to take a break. My save was unaffected and I was at the same point as when I quit the game, and I was quitting anyway so the crash didn't really affect me lol. Like I said, I'm surprised this game's only rated silver as everything else was perfect and I didn't encounter any other problems.

Great game.

Played through the game. The crashes are annoying but relaunching the game "fix" it.
Some Crashes when launching the game and when loading the campaign.

PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 gamemoderun %command%
Fixed by adding PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 to the command line.
It crashed once while moving from a cutscene to the game. But only once.
Plays very well with very good graphics. No problems so far. This should be Platinum as I can see no problems at all. ;-)
gamemoderun %command%
Had many problems launching this game. Finally on Nobara linux it is working when I chose proton Hotfix in steam compatability menu. In Steam press right mouse button on the game. Go to properties. Go to compatibiliy. Check "Force to use specific..." and chose Proton Hotfix.
None
Quieter during some cut scenes
Game would crash when dying and a respawn with loading screen was needed.
I swear the game crashed less frequently if my computer was offline and steam started in offline mode.
taskset -c 0 %command%
Cutscenes all work, however audio can get out of sync (sometimes a lot).
Game needs to be locked to one core (haven't tried more) else restarting from checkpoints will cause the game to lockup. Slight stuttering at times because of the single core.
Had one crash at the beginning of the game.
After setting locking the game to one core, was able to play it all the way through with minimal issues.
Depends if you want roll the chance of having to uninstall/reinstall the game. Runs well outside the loading screen issue
Very seldomly does the loading screen bug the entire game forcing you to close the game. In my experience I had to uninstall and reinstall the title when this happened
The biggest problem for this title as stated before is that when you inevitably run into the issue of an unresponsive loading screen you will be forced to reinstall completely as verifying integrity does not fix this issue.
Game works without issues using the most recent Proton Experemental. No issues noticed so far, was able to play the game from start to finish without any crashes over multiple startups.
I used mf-install to get the startup videos working, otherwise there is only a black screen on launch.
Works perfectly with the Media Runtime files installed.
1.Install Proton GE 7.15
- Download link above and unzip to /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/501590/pfx/
- Open terminmal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and CD into the above directory
- Execute the following command to install WINEPREFIX="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/501590/pfx/" PROTON="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/GE-Proton7-15/" ./mf-install.sh -proton
If you use GE, the game works with no suttering of any kind. Do note that the audio stops completely if you die or reload a checkpoint.
-nostartupmovies
In following files in this folder: compatdata/501590/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition/StormGame StormGame/Config/StormPCCookedEngine.ini StormGame/Config/StormEngine.ini replaced bForceNoMovies=FALSE to bForceNoMovies=TRUE
if you die, reload a checkpoint or continue from your checkpoint in the main menu, the audio stops completely. however, if you manage to make it to a cutscene, the audio will be restored
you need GE to run it, otherwise it hangs on a black screen.
Needs GE to work.
-nostartupmovies
Edit paramter 'bForceNoMovies=False' to 'bForceNoMovies=True' in both StormPCCookedEngine.ini and StormEngine.ini.
Files are located in your steamfolder > compatdata/501590/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition/StormGame/Config/
after loading save audio is gone until a reload
Required for videos/loading screens; audio will not work after/loading from checkpoints without this installed as well.
Pretty much "just werks" after said tweak.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
installed: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
Using GE-Proton7-15, doing mf-install, enabling async the game runs perfectly, the low audio after loading the game bug is now gone movies also seem to work now so if you really want you don't need to skip startup movies or disable in game movies
%command% -nostartupmovies
In following files in this folder: compatdata/501590/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition/StormGame
StormGame/Config/StormPCCookedEngine.ini StormGame/Config/StormEngine.ini
replaced bForceNoMovies=FALSE to bForceNoMovies=TRUE
you have to disable the videos so thats pretty bad, but other than that haven't experienced any slowdowns or issues, game runs super well
As long as you adjust the mouse sensitivity, disable FMVs using -nostartupmovies and use GE 7.3-1 it will be a very smooth experience.
%command% -nostartupmovies
Mouse works great, just set StormInput.ini option on MouseSensitivity=10.0
Game works great if the changes are made that others on here have suggested. These config tweaks aren't for the faint of heart though.
%command% -nostartupmovies
set StormInput.ini option on MouseSensitivity=10.0
Movies don't work and requires mf-install. Follow the directions of others on this list.
Playable with the fixes aded in other reports, sadly no cutscenes.
Sometimes after loading sound is too low until the next load screen.

You can play it flawlessly with regular proton 6.3-7, but you need some adjustments. Keep reading.
MY PREVIOUS REPORT WAS INCOMPLETE, USE THIS ONE The game needs mfplat (Microsoft Platform Foundations Libraries) which are not yet fully implemented in proton and the game will crash at start. To avoid that, first you need any version of wine installed in your distro, preferrably an official one from its package manager. First, install the game normally and try to run it, it will crash but at least it will create the steam prefix. Then go to the terminal: cd /tmp ; git clone https://github.com/Patola/mf-install.git && cd mf-install
(you can also use https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install.git instead). Find out the steam prefix used by the game - let’s call it (STEAM_PREFIX), replace it accordingly. As an example, my own steam prefix for the game is /games/steam
, and the default one (if you haven't added other prefixes) is ~/.steam
. Then, continue from the previous commands: WINEPREFIX="(STEAM_PREFIX)/steamapps/compatdata/501590/pfx" ./mf-install.sh
-- this command will use your locally installed wine and add and register the original microsoft libraries to proton. It will take a long time, might take hours even. In the meanwhile, right-click on the game entry, select properties, go to the “GENERAL” tab and in launch options, use that: %command% -nostartupmovies
-- this will prevent the game from trying to play the initial movies which crash it, but it will still crash on some cutscenes. To prevent crashing in cutscenes, edit "(STEAM_PREFIX)/steamapps/compatdata/501590/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition/StormGame/Config/StormPCCookedEngine.ini"
and "(STEAM_PREFIX)/steamapps/compatdata/501590/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition/StormGame/Config/StormEngine.ini"
and change all occurences of bForceNoMovies=FALSE
to bForceNoMovies=True
-- now you can fully play the game to the end.

You can play it flawlessly with regular proton 6.3-7, but you need some adjustments. Keep reading.

Not yet working out of the box
Crashes on start
Video playback instantly crashes the game. This can be circumvented by disabling all intros and cutscenes by using the startup parameter "-nostartupmovies" and by setting bForceNoMovies=True in both files StormPCCookedEngine.ini and StormEngine.ini in [SteamLibrary]/compatdata/501590/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition/StormGame/Config
When starting a new game, audio works fine. If a checkpoint is loaded, e.g. after dying or when resuming the game after restarting it, there is no more audio except for some background / ambient noise. I found no way to get audio back except for starting all over, so either play the game in one no-death-run or deaf.
Resuming a saved checkpoint breaks audio.

Game crashes before getting to the menu with error because of issues with loading cutscenes.
Game able to be runnable by disabling ALL cutscenes in game, but I don't consider that to be playable. See: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/2081

Not even GloriousEggroll helped with this one.
It goes into black screen at start and then crashes.
