Works out of the box. The resolution, audio, cutscenes. Everything works as it should.
Once the sound and cutscenes are fixed with the method I used. It's an enjoyable experience especially with the community layout available.
First set compatibility to proton 5.0-10 and then open the configuration menu. Set Resolution to 1280x800 and disable zbuffer, dither and bilinear filter.
Switch to desktop mode. Go to the game directory in the steam folder. In the config.txt in the game directory, change SOUND 0 to SOUND 1. Save the file. Then change the properties for the config.txt. Permissions -> Owner -> Can only view. This fixed both the sound and cutscenes for me.
SOUND 0 to SOUND 1 in config.txt in steamapps/common/Tomb Raider (III)
Audio doesn't play is completely missing in gameplay and the Tinker steps don't fix it.
Not a very acceptable user experience. Better play it somewhere else.
No audio in-game until I edited config.txt to change 'SOUND 0' to 'SOUND 1' as described here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/225320/discussions/0/846938350664948105/?l=english

Game has no window mode.
Videos play only when game graphics resolution equals to display resolution. In other case videos not show.
Played with Proton 5.0-10.
Proton 5.13-6 and 6.3-8 simply crash when try to start game graphics.

Proton 6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton 6.1-GE-2
works without cutscenes
If I use alt + ctrl + arrow keys, it will crash the game!
specific input crash the game, window gone + audio in a loop
cutscenes doesn't always work, it did work with 5.0-10
you have to remap Action and Jump in the game, don't touch alt and ctrl(at same time), then the game runs fine
not stable enough for a gamer
works fine
specific stem input setting will crash game at startup

there some bug in steam if you enable steam input and or overlay. crash at startup.
just disable overlay and you can play with you're keyboard :( I played with a PS4 about 4 hours yesterday.
Everything works, cutscenes, startup logo, (one) joystick input. steam input is better.
Proton 5.0-10 is the shit for this game, I also play with https://core-design.com/community_tr3withoutcrystals.html
Change proton version from 5.0.3 to 4.11.13

Works good but no videos
Played with Proton 5.0-7
The game works well - a problem with resolution
The game shuts down after changing the resolution and when starting the game from the settings window.
If in the launcher you enter the option to change the resolution and then start the game. You will see a black screen. You need to restart the game and it will work. The previously set resolution is saved.

Out of the box sound didn't work and the config window was hidden behind a black screen. By Alt+Tab got it to focus and set and tested my settings. Now everything is working (including video clips). Switching to desktop will show black screen on return. The only way I found to restore it is to toggle the display resolution (Escape, Down, Left, Action, Left, Right)

It runs perfectly, the only issue is when you first start the game, you have to minimise the game and then only select the set-up window, then you can choose your settings, click ok, and then you click on the main window again and it starts the game. This effects all of Core Design Tomb Raiders (except AOD) and the black window at the start shouldn't actually be there.

No intro videos, everything else works fine.

No intro videos (black screen), but the game itself works fine on Proton.

Up to now, seems to play fine apart from videos that appear as black screen)

Does absolutely nothing

I didn't have any trouble with the settings window, game ran fine after running settings app and setting the resolution to the highest value

can not reach the setup window...always behind black fullscreen - gnome

Other than the initial setup window being hidden behind the game window (while it waits with a black screen!), absolutely wonderful, and in proper 4x3

runs fine but there is no sound

only black windows

Attempting to play the game indicates that one should run setup, but if setup is run, it does not appear - only a black screen appears (the setup screen is shown when one presses alt+tab, however it is not able to be selected by any means).

No sound, no music. The first time I launched it I obtained a black WIndow: the setup dialog box appeared the first tieme you launched the game, but is placed behing the black window.

Works, but when I tried pressing multiples keys it crashed, may not be related
