Works best with Proton - Don't bother with the Linux port.
Right click the game, Properties, Compatibility, Force the use of Steam...., Proton experimental. I get more than double the FPS of the native Linux port!

Don't install this extension ! Installing "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II" is enough to access "Chaos Rising" campaign.
But if you prefer to "install" it you may run into the infinite update bug of "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II" (A fake update is queued endlessly) Important : as "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II" native linux port is broken, you have to use Proton.
I ran the built-in performance benchmark in both the native port and Proton on Ultra settings. Proton had an average 10 FPS more.
Multiplayer in the native port only works across Unix machines (Linux and Mac can play together), but does not cross play to Windows. Combined with the performance perks of running in Proton, I don't see a reason not to just play in Proton.

Game works native and on Proton out of the box. I installed manually D9VK and it worked with this DX9 to Vulkan translation, but there are a lot of graphical glitches.
