Works perfectly

Does not launch!
Added a DXVK config, metioned in other posts
Tried everything described in these posts, but no luck. Running Steam through a terminal gave me this console spew: "Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/levi/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton Hotfix/proton", line 1749, in g_session.init_session(sys.argv[1] != "runinprefix") File "/home/levi/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton Hotfix/proton", line 1656, in init_session g_compatdata.setup_prefix() File "/home/levi/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton Hotfix/proton", line 855, in setup_prefix os.symlink("../drive_c", self.prefix_dir + "/dosdevices/c:") FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '../drive_c' -> '/home/levi/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/410320/pfx//dosdevices/c:'" Looks to me as if the game's trying to access a directory in an invalid way, and I don't know how I'd fix that :(

Multiplayer worked without any issues.
Worked fine with no issues or tinkering

Despite being a bare-bones port, the game works perfectly fine once you make a small DXVK tweak.
As other posts have noted, the game flashes heavily when you first boot it up. To fix this, just create a dxvk.conf
file in the game's installation directory, and put the line dxgi.syncInterval = 0
into it. Problem solved!
Other than the change in the DXVK configuration tweak, this game worked pretty much perfectly for me over the 60+ hours that I played it.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Framerate is low compared to windows on the same settings, had to decrease resolution and anisotropic filtering to get it to an acceptable level
The game crashes before the start screen on the latest version of proton and also on 9.0-2. It only launches when I set compatibility to 8.0-5
The game will only launch if you set compatibility to Proton 8.0-5 by right clicking the game in the library and then clicking properties -> compatibility -> force -> proton 8.0-5.
The Vulkan version works but is extremely choppy and pretty much unplayable. It only starts to work alright if you switch to OpenGL by going to properties -> general -> launch options and pasting this in the field:
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Loads a while, won't even launch window

Gamepad + joystick trackpad felt better to play with than the official recommended layout. Game works and runs well.

Works perfectly out of the box, just install and play
I only played with my S.O. , online but in the same physical room

The default Steam Input configuration set by the developers maps your controller to the KB/M controls for the game. You can safely change the mapping to normal controller input for smoother input and correct glyphs.
I did not experience the v-sync related issues that other users experienced.

Runs like native.
alt tabbing from the game causes all other audio from the system (discord for example) to become very choppy. Game audio is not affected tabbed out or in to the game. Audio quality of system is restored when tabbing back into the game.
Managed to play through all 98 multiplayer missions with no issues.
Game can crash when alt tabbing on Windows. This is not the case in Linux.

Force vsync off as per other reports https://steamcommunity.com/app/410320/discussions/0/1747898397219502826/
Workaround in https://steamcommunity.com/app/410320/discussions/0/1747898397219502826/ needed but otherwise runs great out of the box
Put "dxgi.syncInterval = 0" in dxvk.conf as per https://steamcommunity.com/app/410320/discussions/0/1747898397219502826/ to stop really painful constant flashing issue.
Constant flashing until applying the workaround
It is definitely playable without any tinkering, but forcing VSync off helps performance immensely.
Created a dxvk.conf file alongside the game's EXE and added dxgi.syncInterval = 0 to force-disable the horrible VSync implementation.
No issues at all with input. Performance still tanks hard whenever there's a lot happening on screen, but that's expected from EDF.
Performance will be all over the place no matter what you tinker with, this is normal, especially when the screen gets crowded and whole cities get demolished with tons of explosions and tracers on higher difficulties.
It runs well, I made a save file and started playing for 8 minutes; it played comfortably and without notable issues.
I turned off V-sync as explained in here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/410320/discussions/0/1747898397219502826/
Trying to launch without selecting a Proton version manually (I selected Proton 7.0-4, for those wondering) crashes the game.
Issues with G-SYNC monitor, otherwise runs great (In a window)
G-SYNC issues
Game starts and works great, though G-Sync will cause the game to stutter like crazy. I have not found a solution yet, so I am forced to play in a window until then. Is fully playable otherwise!
I was unable to host a room, but I could connect to others just fine.

Attempting to rename a savefile slot brings up a keyboard prompt. The Steam Deck software keyboard can input characters, but the cursor position can't be adjusted and the prompt can't be closed without temporarily binding a button to the "Enter" key. Plugging in a physical keyboard works as expected.
The game itself runs great, locked 60fps. The developer recommended control scheme uses WASD and mouse by default, a bit odd considering the game has full controller support.
Aside from minor tweaks to the Steam input settings, ran great out of the box, no major issues.
Works out of the box. Defaults to kb+m emulation but has full controller support. Framerate can dip to 20-30fps in heavy scenes, but stays mostly around 50-60fps.
Finished game with no in-game issues
Fullscreen had a stutter every second. Borderless window worked without problems
Some font glyphs are missing in menus

Works fine on latest proton.
Font missing in some menus. Not critical
Fonts are messed up for some menu item. I tried going to 5.x proton which fixes the font issue but game hangs
The font is not a big deal since it happens for stuff like difficulty selection. While you cannot see the difficulty you can see the text in the description box so you know the difficulty

Proton-6.18-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Created a text file 'dxvk.conf' that contains a single line of text: “dxgi.syncInterval = 0” as described in other reports. I don't know what it does specifically, but it makes the game run far better.
Occasionally refuses to start when launched from Steam, fixed by pressing the 'play' button again. The frametime skyrockets to ~60ms from ~7ms in the class/weapon select menu, but goes back to normal in other menus and during gameplay.
Created a file called "dxvk.conf" in the game directory. In this file i have written "dxgi.syncInterval = 0" for a way better perfomance in this game.
In the preperation Menu i get only 30 FPS, but anywhere else i get 60.
You should use Proton 5.13-6. With a newer Version, i dont get the official font for this game and all yes/no options are replaced with squares.
Just install and go, been loving my EDF experience!
Works well enough, very much playable despite a minor issue. Does not work with Proton Experimental, had to use 5.13-5.
Game itself runs fine, but frames crawl down to single digits when changing character or their loadouts.
Runs perfectly without any issues
Controller had disconnected once and required killing the process as the game did not detect the controller after reconnecting, but that may have been a hardware issue as it was not replicated

Disabled v-sync by creating a plaintext file where EDF41.exe
resides, then adding the following line:
dxgi.syncInterval = 0
Missing fonts in the menus.
Frame rate sometimes drops significantly during gameplay. Some missions are more affected than others, especially the those from the DLC mission packs. Game is virtually unplayable with v-sync enabled.
- Game worked perfectly on Proton 5.0-9. Since a recent update, my choices are Proton 5.0-10 or 5.13-2. There's no option to use 5.0-9 anymore. Proton 5.0-10 is currently the most playable for me at the time of writing.
- Performance in split-screen multiplayer is worse than playing solo or online.
Created a .conf file to deactivate V-Sync.
Some Characters are missing by Difficultyscreen and all yes/no options.
If V-Sync is activated, i had significant perfomance problems ingame. How to deactivate V-Sync is there written: https://steamcommunity.com/app/410320/discussions/0/1747898397219502826/ With this guide, EDF runs very well.
Just add in the dxvk.conf file as described here, https://steamcommunity.com/app/410320/discussions/0/1747898397219502826/
added a .conf file to force v-sync off
Without the vsync forced off, there is a moderate to significant perofmance drop. By adding a dxvk.conf as listed here, https://steamcommunity.com/app/410320/discussions/0/1747898397219502826/ , it now runs flawlessly aside from the missing font.
Works incely. Only issue I can see, are characters replaced by three squares (two for "ON" and three for "OFF", I guess) in some menus.
Missing characters in menus replaced by square glyphs.
The game is complaining about a missing save data directory for a few starts, however the error will go away after some data has been saved. AFAIK this is also present in Windows, too.
Muiltiplayer is frequently disconnecting. However, this issue is common on all players in Windows, too.
Running the game without PROTON_USE_WINED3D has not been tried.
Super fun experience! Played perfect right from the start!
Known bug with port(happens to windows players too)
Known bug with port(happens on windows too). Character outfit menu is slow.
Seems to work fine, though I haven't tested multiplayer yet
Some fonts may be missing for the menu rendering on difficulty settings

Only thing wrong is some of the menu items don't display. That's it. Everything else works perfectly including 60 FPS with over a hundred of monster on screen.
It just doesn't works™
The menus work better than the actual game now
Unplayable, slow FPS

DXVK on this game doesn't work , use PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% to play. after that , the only problem is some text being replaced by squares (ex : difficulty settings) but the description of said items still work , so it's not too much of a problem. it's also to note that this game can run at higher refresh rates on linux without any problem (75hz here) while on windows it's eternally stuck to 60hz.

There is a regression in the newest version of proton were parts of the hud is missing(cant see ammo and jet fuel) if dxvk is used happens on all graphics card intel nvidia(dont use dxvk anyway has really bad frame times) and amd use proton 4.2 if you have a save file alreadly and you need dxvk
