Great game. Run smoothly on my PC without tinkering at all.
After waking up from sleep two or three times in my 25+ walktrough sound was corrupted and very noisy. Restarting the game and everything is okay again
When launching sometimes screen is remaining black, just send deck to sleep and wake up immediately to see main menu and that everything is good. Also two or three times in 25+ hours sound was corrupted and very noisy after waking up SD. Just restart the game and everithing is fine again. Very minor issues, still had great experience with this game

Habe das Spiel auf der Switch gespielt und nun auf dem Deck. Installiert, gestartet und direkt loslegen können, ohne Einstellungen zu verändern. Ladezeiten sind top, die Schrift sehr gut zu lesen auf dem Deck.
Runs great out of box, no need to tinker even with the options. Highly recommended to give it a go.
Love playing this on my steam deck. My only issue is that the icons on the raydar can be sometimes difficult to see but its not really a big problem.
Absolute pefect for me. My only issues with this game are down to the fact its a small screen, Raydar and some text is can be quite small but in no way difficult to read at all. However this is just a personal issue and the average person will not have any problems..
Works very well out of the box, but doesnt play MF videos.
To see videos, use a GE version.

Followed the report from Bouddhy. Had to switch back and forth Proton versions until it works.
Loading time seems a little slow.
Loads into a Black Screen with mouse pointer, but that's it then. Tried it with mf-install and Proton 5.0.
#1) Download ZIP & Unpack Media Foundation support for Wine&WineProton called "mf-install" from https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install . #2) Installed for Proton 5.0 by: WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/683320/pfx PROTON=$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ 5.0 ./mf-install.sh -proton (This code need to be executed inside the downloaded folder). #3) Download and Install Game in Steam, open Properties and force Proton 5.0 as Steam Play Compatibility Tool (in this case).
Attempted to get running with mf-install and copying mfplat.dll, however no dice
It just didn't end up working - just the black screen and cursor, even though I performed the steps that seemed to have worked for others.
For now one crash to report while I was in a tank-minigame
I bought this game years ago, and get stuck on a black screen. to solve this : a) go to https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install ; click on "code">download zip b) unzip file c) open a console and go to the folder containing the files : cd /home[...]/mf-install-master/ d) then run : WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/934780/pfx PROTON=$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ 5.0 ./mf-install.sh -proton #(if you are using proton 5.0 )

GE Proton did not work. Tried the mf-install fix mentioned. No luck.
Maybe my lack of experience? But the mf-install seems to do a poor job of explaining a proton install.
Needs Media Foundation for the intro videos. Otherwise the game will hang in a black screen.

However even after mf is installed the game suffers. Alt tabbing will make the game unresponsive, as is clicking anything while the first menu is loading. Windowed mode does not work; the game also slows down over time and by minute 15 it is sluggish and stuttering. Finally, quitting the game isn't registered by steam which prevents it from restarting without closing steam as well
So, I needed to run the sh file from https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install like the other guy. But I also needed to manually copy the mfplat.dll to the games directory as suggested here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamPlay/comments/bsx6oi/american_fugitive_and_media_foundation_workaround/

Won't even launch out of the box, but steam will show it as running. I used wine d3d11 and got an unresponsive window. When I disabled d3d11, a peculiar unity loading screen showed up, but it crashed after a few seconds.
