Game ran flawless with standard install from Steam, no selections or tweaks required, max resolution full speed, with Steam save support too

Works very well out of the box!
The game works perfectly out of the box, just keep in mind that you get some HUD visual bugs if you try to play at anything higher than 1080p resolution. Anakin's Remaster mod also works flawlessly, as do a few other mods I tried like Marvel4's conversion and BF3 Legacy.

Tried all available wine/proton versions in Heroic Games Launcher but the game just crashes/closes itself.

Small amount of servers, i have high ping (170-190). But it's ok.
Well, i think it's important to say that: the main menu resolution (in my situation) will not be the same as a resolution that you set in settings. For example: main menu res 800x600, in match res 1920x1080.

Newer proton versions break keyboard input

I recommend grabbing Anakin's remaster 1.5r2 mod off Moddb to fix the HUD at high resolutions.
/win /resolution 2560 1440
Used protontricks to execute .exe files for mods.
At resolutions above 1920x1080 you need to set the water quality to low otherwise you will get a massive purple/blue tint that covers up maps that have water. Zooming in down a scope can sometimes cause a white box to appear on your screen. Both of these are issues that I had on Windows as well.
Disabling anti-aliasing fixed a crash I was having after playing a few matches in a row. This was not an issue on my Windows machine.

I installed the Mod Star Wars Battlefront 2 Remaster (Update: May 2024) from moddb.com. Just download and unzip it. The archive has 3 setup.exe files - the installation order is self explanatory by the filenames.
After installing the game with Steam and Proton 9.0-2 being set in compatibility mode, right click the setup.exe -> select "Open With" -> "Protontricks Launcher". In the dialog, select "Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Classic, 2005)". The setup wizard starts. Now choose the "GameData" folder from the game by using the *Z:* drive and start the installation process.
On some Maps (e.g. Hoth) a relative big bright square appears in the upper left corner of the screen after using the scope of any troop. Does not appear on every map though. This bug was also present on Windows 10.

Multiplayer works as it would on Windows.
The game works, I added modded maps / the v1.3 patch and didn't experience any issues. Alt-tabbing also had less issues than on Win11.

When running on Proton >=7, keyboard inputs are not detected by the game

works ootb
On my tumbleweed its literally install & play and it just works, its that easy, ootb experience keeps rolling ;)
Warning, the highest resolution that the HUD can be used with is 2560x1440. Any higher and the HUD starts to disappear unless you use mods.

While not required, I installed the swbf2 remaster 1.5 r2
(by Anakin) via protontricks to fix the UI for higher resolutions (this is not an issue with proton, just the base game). The provided launch option is for this mod.
On certain areas of some maps, the screen has blue light square artifacts that blocks your view a bit.
Online worked perfectly, no tweaks required

Mostly works really well.
The game crashes after Galactic Conquest battles.

Everything works very well. Theres a problem that isn't exclusive to Linux where some graphical and UI elements might act weird at resolutions above 1920x1080. I remember there being a patch in moddb that fixes this.
On my previous report, I said that the game would crash on galactic conquest. I fixed this, it was a custom map that had an incorrect naming scheme. I fixed the map's name and now everything works perfectly.

little difficult to read, would be nice to be able to increase rext size, but left bumper+steam button with right trackpad allows you to zoom in
loved it

Works very well, just crashes on galactic conquest (I'll update this post once I find the fix)
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
If you play at a resolution above 1920x1080, some UI elements will act a bit weird, but it's fine other than that. There's probably a mod that fixes this
The game crashes only when finishing a battle in galactic conquest mode. I'm trying to find out how to fix this because I remember playing this mode just fine on Linux before.

The game works out of the box without problems (except the problems the game itself has in general, of course).

__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%
When loading a level or a map, the game minimises for a second and then gets up afterwards. If afterwards a piece of the loading screen is missing (is just black), minimise and re-enter the game, it will be fixed.
can't change to display on 2nd monitor. still main monitor works fine.
No video
game starts, sound works, but menus are unviewable, no idea why this has a platinum score
Works fine
I only play offline
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command% /resolution 1920 1080
For more and stable fps set antialiasing to 4x and/or set shadows to low.

This game worked well for me using the latest Proton GE version (7.47 at the time of writing). Got through all the boot stuff, was able to change my resolution with ease. With older games, there does exist some scaling issues with text, but it is not a big deal in the slightest in my opinion. In conclusion, game works. Super battle droid, take em' down!
-resolution 2560 1600
16:10 only seems to be supported using the launch option to change the resolution.
Experienced network lag with a couple servers but so did my friends on Windows
Sound is borked after I hit the "accept" button to log into my account. Tried very version of proton.
-resolution 1920 1080
Installed Star Wars Battlefront 2 Remaster 1.5 r2
Loading times can be one to two minutes longer than loading it on Windows with the same hardware, but the game seems to perform well without any other problems. I did not test multiplayer.
Control scheme had very high camera sensitivity, halved it
The game famously doesn't have great controller support on PC, so you're kinda stuck with what you can piece together via configuration. Works fine, though menus are a little annoying.
Gyro very inconsistent

/win
Proton > 4 kept introducing bugs with shaders and lighting, but had really fast load times. Proton 4 works great, but load times are longer, but not terrible. Turned down shade and lighting quality a bit and runs much smoother.
Works perfectly, I've only discovered one issue with graphics.
The Dagobah map shows strange water artifacts when the resolution is increased.
Default controller recommendation was not responsive
Singleplayer works just fine on current. If you can't get on MP, try an older Proton version.
On newer versions of Proton (namely 6.3-8 and above), clicking on the Multiplayer tab yielded a "Not signed in" error and I wasn't able to access the server browser or join ongoing matches. I did not test hosting. Switching to 4.11-13 resolved that.
On all tested versions, other than the multiplayer issue, windowing was a little weird. The game would default to my secondary monitor when launching. On newer versions, the game would occasionally switch back from my primary monitor to the secondary monitor during loading screens or transitions to and from the menu. Nothing a little alt-tabbing/panel icon clicking wouldn't fix.
Game works perfectly OOTB.
Tried hosting a game for friends. Worked perfectly, no issues.
Some visual issues with widescreen and high resolutions, but these also happen on Windows. Overall Battlefront 2 seems to be a better experience on Linux than Windows these days.
