Works perfectly out of the box.
Not designed for Ultrawide.
Working Perfectly OOTB
(Not Proton Problem) Stretches window on non-16:9 resolutions, rather than using black bars.
(Not a Proton Problem) Follow this guide to fix the Leaderboard error: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2612735638
All the issues I encountered can happen on Windows as well, Proton handles this game perfectly.
Slightly low FPS, but generally playable.
Around 40-50 FPS
Doesn't work well on Ultrawide resolutions.
Works perfectly out of the box.
Some elements were out of frame on a 21:9 monitor.
Probably not a great game, but it seems to work.
The game interface is ugly, you could improve your experience by installing a Windows theme in your game's Proton prefix.
Works perfectly out of the box.
Worked fine out of the box, but when I tried to switch it to windowed mode there were significant problems with the UI being out of frame in other aspect ratios.
No longer works as of Proton 5.0
Game crashes on launch on the latest Proton 5.0-1, try playing with 4.11-12 instead.
Game works out of the box. If your game crashes it's not a Proton problem.
This game does tend to crash a lot, however this is a problem with the game itself not with Proton as it exhibits the same behavior on Windows based on a cursory scan of the overwhelmingly negative reviews.
Works fine, but it's not my kind of game.
Fullscreen was borked, so I used Fullscreen Windowed instead.
Mostly works, just missing audio.
If this game has audio I didn't hear any of it.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Does not work well with ultrawide resolutions.
Wasn't able to test multiplayer, everything seems to work perfectly out of the box.
Works, but the performance is abysmal.
Basically unplayable at this framerate.
Loading Screen Then Crash
I'm guessing this is caused by anti-cheat. Tried the latest Proton, Experimental, and GE.
Seems to be working but most of the UI is messed up. I don't think it's good enough to play comfortably at this stage.
Because of the heavy graphical issues, this game is not able to be played properly.
Seems to work, although I was unable to test multiplayer as nobody's online.
Starts windowed and crashes when entering fullscreen. The game works perfectly though.
Avoid a black screen on startup.
40-50 FPS
Works, but the servers are down.
Don't bother trying to play, there's no server to connect to.
Only works on Proton 5.0-10 with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 set. Didn't work on Proton 4.11-13, 5.13-6 or 6.1-GE.
Working perfectly out of the box. The online functions are down, nothing to do with Proton.
Missing mouse cursor on the main menu, graphical issues where the ground is invisible.
I did not try logging in with an account, but I navigated the menus and used the editor without issue.
Cutscenes don't display properly, graphical artifacts in-game, had it crash on me.
Works perfectly.
This is not a game, it's just a series of videos and plays in Steam - no Proton is needed.
Invisible mouse cursor on main menu, some stuttering lag with screen tearing. Seems generally playable.
Boxtron
Boxtron is a Steam Play compatibility tool to run DOS games using native Linux DOSBox:
First time setup redistributes do not install correctly, the game does not start.
Seems to work perfectly, but the game speed is way faster than normal.
Worked well for me.
Steam crashed shortly after launching the game, I was able to continue playing online normally normally but my time played was not tracked.
Seems to be working at first, but everything is black once you get in-game.
Works
I wasn't able to fully test this game as I don't have VR, but it started up and seems to work fine.
Working fine, but with major lag when doing anything and very long loading times.
Runs and drives, but with very low FPS. You may be able to squeeze more FPS by changing the resolution to a small window, but it still wasn't good enough for me to play comfortably. The controls are sticky, sometimes continuing to move despite letting go of the key. The control issue may be a side effect of the framerate.
I know nothing about Baseball, but this seems to work perfectly out of the box.
I know nothing about Baseball, but this seems to work perfectly out of the box.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Seems the game is fully functional with modern Proton versions.
Minor graphical bugs and poor performance, try adjusting the video options until you find an acceptable result.
Launcher was missing text, lots of error messages, graphical bugs during gameplay.
Don't use the latest Proton 5.0-9, the game randomly hitches and freezes. Use Proton 4.11-13 instead.
After selecting Proton 4.11-13, you may still have slightly stuttery gameplay. Use OpenGL as the video renderer, FPS cap set to max, and vsync off. The fluctuations still happen but the FPS is so high they're not noticeable.
Doesn't work perfectly yet.
There's a few problems:
- You can't access most of the account options in game, the only way to login to your account is to use the option on the top left of the title screen.
- The game will occasionally crash and freeze, this seems to happen mostly in multiplayer.
- You can't start a public lobby for a game, it says that those settings can't be used in a public game even though they can.
Working perfectly out of the box, didn't have to rename any files.
Works perfectly out of the box.
Multiplayer servers were shut down and therefore were not tested.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Proton-GE 5.21-GE-1
The game will always crash when an in-game video plays. Use -skipvideos in the Origin launch options (not Steam).
Freeburn Online crashes my game.
I bought a subscription to EA Play and I was eager to play this. Like others, I had trouble getting it to run. Apparently it's quite buggy even on Windows!
Here's every problem I ran into with the solution that fixed it for me:
- After the loading screen the game hangs on a black screen. Add -skipvideos to the Origin launch options for this game.
- Press any key screen is black with no music, pressing a key crashes the game. I think this was solved by turning off Origin's overlay feature.
- On the menu now, co-op mode works but single player doesn't. You need a save game that skips the intro video, here's the one I used: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t4bL1JC6Hvcmf8-Lj00HoR42YCVx8tQ7/view?usp=sharing This goes somewhere like ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1238080/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Criterion Games/Burnout Paradise Remastered/Save
Here's some other things that might have helped:
- Setting wine to use a virtual desktop. Origin is buggy and has weird floaty window bits. This helps contain the mess.
- Turning off Steam's overlay.
- Renaming the game's video files inside the VIDEOS folder to prevent them from playing. Not sure if this does anything.
- I heard someone say that putting Origin in offline mode helps, I didn't do this.
- On Windows webcams can cause bugs and crashes. Not sure how this applies to WINE if at all. I don't have a webcam.
This game seemed to be working okay out of the box at first - but I found that after 30 seconds of gameplay the screen would go black. I fixed it by adding this to the launch options: +r_signal_fx "0"
This game is playable out of the box, but screen scrolling only works up and to the left, I suggest using the arrow keys to scroll. Windowed mode is garbled mess, don't try to switch to it.
Runs fine, but the game is buggy and has a bunch of weird issues. I'm not sure if this is a problem with Proton or with the game itself.
Working perfectly when this launch option is used: PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%
Couldn't get the window to cooperate and couldn't click on anything in the main menu.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Error: Couldn't open CD-Audio device.
This error happens on Windows as well, so I'm still giving this a Platinum.
Push alt+enter to switch between fullscreen and windowed, can only be played in a window.
The intro video is a black screen, but if you click past it the rest of the game seems to work fine without any tweaking required.
Approximately 8 FPS, tried to change the graphics settings and it crashed and won't start anymore.
Works fine with a small tweak.
Game complains about color depth unless ran in fullscreen mode.
Go into the game folder and open up user.cfg
, simply change FullScreen
from 0 to 1 and save the file. The game works fine for me after this minor change.
Might need to use "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%"
Game does not run well at all with my hardware configuration, the only way to get a smooth framerate is with 720p on lowest settings.
Game will not launch without "%command% --launcher-skip"
You can use "%command% -gogRewardsDisabled" to prevent GOG Reward ads from showing up on the main menu.
Works perfectly out of the box but it's a bit laggy, try this fix: PROTON_USE_WINED3D9=1 %command%
Runs, but with some quirks.
Requires the maximum FPS to be set above 60, or else there's random frame drops and stuttering. I set it to max and had no problems thereafter.
You might want to add "-skipmovies" to the launch options to avoid the lengthy intro sequence.
Had to set a resolution via launch options, "-w 1920 -h 1080" Multiplayer servers are offline but you can still host a game and connect directly through the IP.
Starts with a black screen, click past. No cinematic. The sound skips around when listening to the busker.
Seems to be functional.
Lots of FPS drops, although I believe this is because of the game and not Proton.
Unrelated to Proton, the developer of this game banned me from the Community Hub over a screenshot in retaliation to a negative review I posted. Buyer beware. https://i.imgur.com/X7lMMZN.png
Sometimes the graphics can glitch out and cause a crash while on the main menu, but it seems fine once you get in game.
The mouse on the main menu is incredibly hard to control, but once you get in game it works fine.
Working perfectly out of the box. Be careful not to change resolutions too fast.
Kinda working, but not a good experience.
Performance was stuttery even on the lowest settings.
Screens in-game that display trailers are white.
Works perfectly.
Absolutely no issues, performance is perfect and multiplayer is perfect.
Everything seems to be working perfectly out of the box but performance is suffering with approximately 40 FPS in open areas and occasional stuttering. Lowering the graphics settings to minimum doesn't seem to help.
Runs, but it's a weird resolution that forces most of the game off screen and I'm not able to fix it.
luxtorpeda - https://github.com/dreamer/luxtorpeda
Using the Steam compatibility tool Luxtorpeda it's possible to run this game natively on Linux.
Gives errors after selecting a server but continues to run. Text is exceptionally hard to read.
Mostly working out of the box.
Intro video is black.
Not a very fun game, but it seems to work fine on Proton.
Problems with Ultrawide
Working out of the box.
Performance is not great, but with some tweaking of the options it's playable.
The mouse was a bit over sensitive, but everything was working perfectly.
I wanted to try this game with Proton because the native Linux version had a few small issues. The sky is a bit messed up, but otherwise it's working great.
I noticed a little audio crackle in some areas, might be fixed with PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60
Works out of the box.
A little stuttery but clears up after playing for a couple minutes.
Unplayable for me.
Game was a complete slideshow.
Single player working perfectly out of the box, online requires this launch option: "WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d %command%"
Single player working perfectly out of the box, online requires this launch option: "WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d %command%"
Seems to work fine.
I don't have VR, so I can't test this properly, but it loaded up just fine.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Wasn't able to test multiplayer as nobody was in matchmaking.
Had some graphics oddity with the Linux native version, thankfully everything worked out of the box with Proton.
Proton-5-11-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
Slight framerate reduction in some areas.
Crashes when alt-tabbing
Works perfectly after using this command: "cd ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Jet\ Set\ Radio/ && rm jsrsetup.exe && mv jetsetradio.exe jsrsetup.exe"
Working out of the box.
Played the Legends of Ultima server.
Mostly working, fix audio volume in settings.
WARNING: INSANELY LOUD! Go into the options menu to fix.
Almost perfect.
Sometimes hitches and lags while moving into a new area.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Working out of the box.
This game demands to be run in 1920x1080. Resizing the window via xdotool didn't work, but changing my monitor resolution with xrandr did.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Did not experience any issues after running the game for over 10 hours straight.
5.21-GE
Use "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%" to avoid crackling audio.
This game is graphically demanding and I found my FPS would dip from time to time - but I probably just need a better graphics card. Never was it unplayable though.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Origin can be a pain, but the game works fine.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Uses Origin which can sometimes be a pain under Proton - the game itself runs fine however.
Seems to run okay, but the windowing is a bit strange on i3. I suggest setting the game to fullscreen by selecting View > Fullscreen on the top menu.
Black screen after the initial loading screen.
Doesn't work with vanilla Proton or Proton-GE
Early Access, Playable
The game defaulted to "Epic" graphics options which resulted in ~30FPS performance on my system. Small stutters occur the first time you see something in game, which is probably shader caching in action.
An anti-cheat error appears when first starting the game, but I was able to continue playing online without difficulty.
Disable Esync and the game mostly works, with a few exceptions. Creating a workshop item in the editor can be buggy and cause the game to crash. Completing a game with a workshop item can cause the game to freeze on a white screen.
Easy Anti Cheat Error
Unable to play due to the anti-cheat solution bundled with this title.
Mostly working out of the box.
I wanted to see if switching from fullscreen to windowed on the plant selection screen helped the performance issue - it didn't. The game crashed when attempting to go back to fullscreen.
Slowdown on plant selection as noted by others. I had no problem actually selecting plants however.
This game is fully playable - at least on my hardware. The slowdown in the plant selection screen might be bothersome on lower end hardware.
Works perfectly out of the box.
Did not notice any texture issues as another report mentioned. There was some stuttering at first and I had to turn down the graphics options a bit, but then it ran at a perfect locked 60FPS.
Working perfectly out of the box, no regressions noted on the latest Proton.
Works fine - The reason it crashes is because you're missing the required hardware. Not any fault of Proton. The same happens on Windows.
This game requires specific hardware to function properly, this was not tested as I don't own the required device.
I have posted a review on Steam for this game that outlines how to access the game without the hardware it was made for, if you just want to try it out.
https://steamcommunity.com/id/noderunner/recommended/247120/
Works fine.
I only tested multiplayer with myself as no one was online.
Launcher crashes and the game never starts.
I've tried many combinations of Proton versions and launch options. Nothing works for me.
Had no problems with entering my name, the game ran perfectly out of the box.
Working out of the box.
Sub 60 FPS, no graphics options in game.
The game seems to work fine, but sometimes it can have graphical glitches or crash while switching between windowed and fullscreen.
Wasn't able to get this game's window to cooperate, even after playing with the in-game options and configuration file for over 10 minutes.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="nvapi64=" PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
5.21-GE-1
Mostly working just some audio crackle, but I wasn't able to try multiplayer as nobody was online.
The following launch options will solve audio cracking and a dialog that states the nvidia driver is out of date: PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="nvapi64=" %command%
Game works pretty well so far, with the exception that sometimes the main menu sometimes becomes sluggish when returning after a game or changing the resolution options. Don't worry, just start a new game and the FPS will return to normal - it's only the main menu.
Working perfectly out of the box. No workarounds were applied.
Working perfectly out of the box.
5.21-GE-1
Try "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%"
When starting the game it complains of unsupported GPU - just continue past that dialog.
I played the intro missions with no trouble. Online multiplayer won't work but the single player does. Still requires a solid internet connection to play.
I had to lower my graphics options quite a bit to get good performance.
Seems to work okay, but there's a bar of pixelation at the bottom of the screen at all times.
Mostly works out of the box.
Below 60 FPS, there are no options to adjust graphical fidelity.
Good overall experience.
Crashes occasionally when alt-tabbing
In the intro sequence there's a screen and it appears that a video is supposed to play, but only the audio plays.
Working perfectly out of the box, including editor and modeler.
Working out of the box but performance is poor, approximately 30 FPS on Medium settings and sub-60 on the lowest settings.
Working perfectly out of the box. Couldn't get it to go fullscreen but I think that's a limitation of the game not of Proton.
Borked.
The game just doesn't work on Proton or the Glorious Eggroll fork.
It's ironic considering the developer added a tux penguin emote.
A bit laggy on startup but after a moment it works fine.
Using additional ships appears to be broken in general - not Proton related.
Native version wasn't working at all, but with Proton it worked perfectly out of the box.
Configurator not working, default settings result in sub 60 FPS and wrong resolution.
Followed the guide https://github.com/Linux74656/SpaceEngineersLinuxPatches without success. Crash on startup, no errors.
The Linux Native client mostly works, the Windows client probably won't work at all through Proton.
Uses "EQU8", an anti-cheat I've never heard of before. The FAQ located on their website suggests they DON'T support Linux, so I'm guessing the native build for this game doesn't have anti-cheat.
You know I gotta shill my referral code. Use code "IIRIZB" for 50 free Splitcoin. My moral standing is lying down.
You would expect issues with the anti-cheat, but surprise - my issues lay elsewhere.
Stuttery gameplay & low FPS @ lowest settings.
Game locked up and PC became unresponsive.
When joining a multiplayer game, exit to main menu and enter the server list again to start joining.
Everything works perfectly out of the box for the game, the only problem is with Uplay not closing entirely so Steam is stuck thinking the game is still running after you closed it.
Won't connect to Ubisoft servers.
Appears to work at first, but actually this game is unplayable without a sever connection. You'll be able to do a small segment of the tutorial and when you get to the binocular section you just won't be able to spot anything.
Works pretty well, except for the music.
Sounds play, but music does not.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Mostly works out of the box, playable.
Framerate can fluctuate wildly, but it's not super noticeable in a JRPG like this.
Sometimes text can appear corrupted.
Even supports ultrawide!
Push the "Yes to all" button on the dialog that appears.
Multiplayer servers don't work on native Windows too, but you can still manually host a server and connect to it. I suggest adjusting resolution via launch options "-w 1920 -h 1080". Otherwise the game works perfectly.
Tested "Time Gentlemen, Please!" and "Ben There, Dan That!" - Both working perfectly out of the box. Video filters are also working, just don't use a resolution larger than your display can handle.
Subscribe to the beta branch "defaultpak" to solve black screen on launch. Everything seems to work perfectly.
Slide show.
Incredibly low FPS. Doesn't matter how low the graphics settings or resolution is.
Working perfectly out of the box.
Just ignore the errors during setup, once the game launches everything works perfectly.
protontricks 72200 dotnet20
The first time I started the game it froze on launch.
This game crashes a ton even on Windows. If you have a lot of crashing issues it's likely the game itself, not Proton.
Works out of the box.
I was not able to test online multiplayer because no players were online.
The game has all graphical settings maxed out by default, you might need to restart the game for them to take full effect.
Runs perfectly after disabling "Reduce Mouse Lag".
Launcher Error: "Please add an exemption for Nexon Game Security (BlackCipher.aes) to your firewall or antivirus and try again."
Working perfectly out of the box, just run without the launcher. You may have a slightly better experience if you turn on VSync.
5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
Beat the whole game. There was an instance where the screen was black for a short moment, I'm not sure if this is part of the game or a bug with Proton.
Didn't encounter any problems with the game minimizing, as I'm using a tiling window manager, but the game window certainly doesn't like to cooperate and can be quite picky about where it's placed and how it's sized. Still, I managed to get it working and playing fine with a little fidgeting. Maybe this game could benefit from a WINE virtual desktop.
Crashes at main menu unless you provide the launch option: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="openal32=b" %command%
Great out of box experience on Proton.
This game is still a bit buggy and these issues affect Windows users as well.
Received an error message but ignored it and the game seemed to work fine.
Working perfectly out of the box, if you have troubles with your resolution use the launch options "-w 1920 -h 1080"
Graphical issues on main menu. Sometimes it crashes right after the initial loading process.
The native version of this game has never worked for me, but thankfully the Windows version is working almost perfectly for me out of the box including multiplayer. Custom maps via HTTP/FastDL don't appear to download, but you can download them manually. Run "sv_downloadurl" and it will return the map download server. Manually download the map through your web browser and place the .bsp file in your /Steam/steamapps/common/Zombie Panic Source/zps/maps/ directory. If the map file ends with .bz2 you must extract it first. Here's an additional collection of maps: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ytx34q83c9awxk6/AAD7MO3qSgHw0I_3TFsV0jfFa
The game servers have shut down, but this is no fault of Proton and it seems to be working fine otherwise.
Start the game, black screen. Press enter and you should get past it. The resolution may be messed up but if you manage to fix it the game is fully playable. The video background on the main menu doesn't play, but it often bugs out on Windows too.
