Install XNA40 through protontricks
Heavy artifacting with XNA40 installed in fullscreen, Must play in Windowed mode
Game will crash when certain effects are onscreen without XNA40 installed
Make sure ports are forwarded
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Switch to Proton 4.11-13, run the game and let it freeze, then install xna40 via winetricks. Don't use protontricks. Afterwards, launch the game with a newer proton version and the launch options above.
WINEPREFIX=<steampath>/steamapps/compatdata/257750/pfx/ winetricks xna40
By default, completely borked as of Proton 7.0-5. Can use complicated GUI workaround, or some terminal commands, to play though
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Status
This game does not work at all by default as of Proton 7.0-5.
You can get this running on the Steam Deck with some workarounds, but be prepared to spend an hour or two doing so (maybe do it while watching TV: most of the time you're just waiting for things to install).
Can be installed without using terminal, but...
Since the Steam Deck doesn't come with a physical keyboard (and some people don't have a hub or wireless keyboard), I thought I'd try installing this without using the terminal. I achieved that! But it probably wasn't worth all the effort given how long it took to install this way. I'd probably recommend either following other guides here using the terminal, or just not bothering at all. But if you're set on installing it without using the terminal, you can follow my steps here:
An error message pops up every time you launch the game, and it can't be dismissed with a controller unless you edit the controller layout to have a mouse click and trackpad mapped
The game is completely unplayable (will not properly install or run) without the aforementioned Proton/Winetricks workaround
Worked perfectly fine until someone's controller disconnected. Then one player was controlling two different characters. Didn't get fixed by reconnecting the controller, but once we quit the level and re-entered it everything was fine.
Might launch with workaround
Game doesnt boot at all on the Deck. Workarounds might work, but for me, It doesn't worth it tbh.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
The game requires the Microsoft XNA framework, that can be installed using winetricks.
The installer however works only with older version of Proton, to do so launch the game with Proton 4.11-13 after Steam finished creating the prefix stop the game and from terminal launch the following command:
WINEPREFIX=[Path to steam]/steamapps/compatdata/257750/pfx/ winetricks xna40
After installing the XNA framework you can switch back to the latest Proton version
Crashed once
Huge props to Liothe for discovering how to install XNA.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Follow this guide to make the game work
Broken. No matter which official or ge version of Proton i try
Fine after applying the following workarounds.
The game needs XNA40 to run. Installing this is...tricky. Switch to Proton 4.11-13, hit play, which will fail, then enter the following command on the terminal: WINEPREFIX=/[Steam installation path]/steamapps/compatdata/257750/pfx/ winetricks xna40 You'll see a lot of errors, but it will install. Switch back to the latest Proton (or Glorious Eggroll Proton). Next, right-click on the game and pick Properties->General->Launch Options and enter the following: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% You may get a RUNDLL error when you launch the game, but it should still successfully run after that.
Still borked
no change trying to run it with Proton 5.0-4
Crashes at launch.
wont start :/ sequel is coming on feb 1st, probably wont be wasting money on it
Doesn't launch
Tried all the tweaks available from Proton, none of them worked too.
don`t run
Stops running before anything pops up.
