no tinkering. just set proton to 25 (or whatever is latest) and it runs great. openplanet also works.

Works OOTB
Works perfectly fine out of the box, controller gets detected, everything is as it should be.

Runs flawlessly without any tinkering

Installing OpenPlanet also works perfectly, but does require installing vcrun2022
to work, and launch options WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%

Non-working startup screen input until switching to Proton 5.13-6
Offline mode is non-playable if you never logged in - you must register and log in first.
You can switch to any Proton version after logging in with 5.13-6.

Able to start ManiaPlanet via launch options "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%", but clicking play button to start the game does nothing.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Offline mode doesn't show anything either.
Had to launch through steam-native, otherwise game would immediately close again. Using WineD3D instead of DXVK circumvented this, but rendered a blank screen ingame.
ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" mangohud %command%
Split screen works just fine, but it can only be played with a mod since MP4 update.
Joined and played perfectly fine on the LGC Server
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %COMMAND%
Launch options needed for Proton Experimental
Difficult text to read on main menu (General ManiaPlanet menu) and third party servers UI (which aren't gameplay essential)
A few slowdowns on maps with water/multiplayer servers, both can be tweaked to lower settings in game or in the launcher
Outside of performence, multiplayer ran and played perfectly fine, both to download maps and play on actual servers
Works wonderfully on Linux, the game just has UI problems that holds it back from working out of the box on a Steam Deck. Would recommend as long as aware of the UI needing mouse inputs to go into the game itself. Might need a few tweaks if you want to reach a constant 60 FPS on most maps. 30 FPS is perfectly reachable and perfectly usable for casual play.
Fun game Pog
I have a 2 monitor setup and Windowed Fullscreen cannot be moved between screens. Super+Shift+ArrowKeys moves it for a frame but then it returns to the original screen. Fullscreen does not have this issue
Game boots in a blink then instant crash
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
It doesn't need any configuration, just download it and you're ready to go. I get about 10% less FPS on linux than on windows, but the game still runs pretty well (>100fps).
I also installed Openplanet without any problem - I just needed to change the launch options to make it work.
gamemoderun MANGOHUD=1 %command%
It just works
Works Perfectly
Game works perfectly
EN : impossible to connect to my maniaplanet account, I can't play offline error : the game "TMStadium@nadeo" is not playable empty title
Avec Proton 5.13-6 le jeu fonctionne parfaitement.
Avec Proton 6.3-2 le jeu plante souvent au démarrage d'une map, avec Proton 5.13-6 le jeu fonctionne parfaitement.
Runs out of the box on any modern Proton iteration. Would recommend a platinum rating.

I can't launch the game
After lot of try i can't open the game, the steam button is like playing but no game windows appear
After some more playing I encountered a couple minor issues.
Very rarely the game crashes during a map change in multiplayer.
Sometimes there is significant stuttering during online games, this doesn't happen in single player or in Windows.
The game runs perfectly out of the box in single player and multiplayer. No problems with the Maniaplanet client either.
Just perfect !
Would rate it Platinum. It's running right out of the box.
Runs perfectly, no issues.
The game is stuttering when map changes or when I switch between windows and come back to the game. The only "fix" I found was to restart the game.
Sometimes map changes cause the game to crash.
A part from the weird texture issues, it's fine
Textures look really bad, seems to be using scaled down and then scaled up ones. Looks kinda bad, but still playable. Game seems to think I'm using a ATI HD 5700 as opposed to my RX 580
Crashed randomly a few times
