Use OpenRCT2 On discover store
Needs to launch fron OpenRTC2 for it to initiate fullscreen properly. Just go to desktop, download it from the discover store, and open it. Once it opens direct it to your steam install directory (where RCT2.EXE is located). Then add OpenRCT2 as a game on steam, itll show un in game mode under the non steam tab and just launch it from there.
Once you do that its flawless

I forced experimental just out of habit but it seems to work flawlessly out the box.

OpenRCT2 runs native on linux and is great, fixes various longstanding bugs with the game and adds new features (like larger savegames with more rollercoasters)
Can't alt+tab or go out of window. Causes blank black screen but game still running.
Pop up boxes glitch in and out fast and frequent. Input still recognized for naming a ride. Have to type in the saved game name by hand to launch since mouse isn't recognized in the load/save menu.
Can see screen tearing when navigating in game but it's short lived.
It plays great, but with the typed menus glitching, just know there will be no visual feedback but everything registers properly.
Offset in save menu
Can't save in the default directory. Looks like RT2 doesn't get along with the hidden steam folder. Any other directory worked.
To fix the save problem: Just use any folder in your home directory, that is not hidden, not the one, which RT2 suggests. Use only the keyboard, when the save menu is open, mouse has offset here. In the Rollercoaster Designer: Save the track design to anywhere in your home folder like before. Then copy the file to the Tracks folder of the game and it will show up.
40hz/40fps mode
The game plays just fine on Linux, but ultimately I can't recommend it on the Steam Deck because of the small display size.
UI does not scale independently from the display resolution. The text is very tiny on the Steam Deck.
Game starts up at 480x600 resolution and only uses part of the display. The display resolution must be manually changed in the game settings once you start a park.
The game saves OK but it doesn't put Dave files in the default place the game looks for them when you load a save file. The game includes a file browser when saving/loading though so it's not really an issue.
Overall I can't recommend this game on the Steam Deck. It appears to run great and the mouse controls using the touchpad are passable, but the lack of UI scaling combined with the tiny display of the Deck make it basically impossible to enjoy. Would be much better when docked/external monitor.
Funktioniert Perfekt mit OpenRTC2!
Did Only run outside of steam with openrtc2, but than it was perfekt - expect resolution but its an very old game.
Funktioniert Perfekt mit OpenRTC2! und nur so.. steaminstallation wird dennoch benötigt. Ohne OpenRTC2 startet es nicht!
Saving issue requires manual renaming and relocation of the file outside the game
In native windows (load/save, rename ride, ...), the cursor has a constant offset.
All saved game are named "~/.SV6" (just the extension with no name, located in my home folder), I have to manually move them to the correct folder and give them a correct name.
Those issues don't change the gameplay experience at all, I only have to be careful when I save a game as it could override a previous unrelated save.
Installed OpenRCT2
Custom1 & Custom2 had issues even with OpenRCT2 (Made redundant due to NSF)
The best game out there :) Chris Sawyer is a legend
Only tested OG game, not OpenRCT2
Works ok, definitely playable, but I still recommend using OpenRCT2
Game still displays in left-top corner of the screen when alt+tabbed
This only occures in savefile dialog. Mouse cursor is a bit wonky there.

GOG Version
Lutris 6.13-3
Vanilla RCT (without OpenRCT) works fine - except for native Windows like "Save Game" or "Rename".
In native dialogue's (like Save Dialog) Mouse works inaccurate. In-Game keyboard and mouse behavior is fine.
Second time saving my home folder was shown instead of the save game folder
Only native windows (like renaming and save) work incorrectly
Difficulties with managing the window
The game was awfully resistant to being managed with my window manager. Cycling through windows or trying to move the game window to a different desktop would cause it to crash.

Playable with OpenRCT2 (Haven't tried normally)
Following the instructions on the OpenRCT2 page is painless. I tried on Ubuntu using the nightly PPA and the AppImage. You basically just enter the install path and run OpenRCT2 outside of Steam.
Aside from the problems I told, you can play it well and have a good time.
When I exit from the game, it crashes and I need to kill the process
If you install the game in another language, you'll need to put it in english first, or it'll give you an "CD not found" error
Not sure how the others got it working so well, crashed every time for me.
The error said:
"Exception Raised - Access Violation
Error location: Windows Display Driver."
This one was some trouble to get it going. OpenRCT2 does not work with Steam, even if you extract and re-name the executable RCT2.EXE.
Once the game has installed, go into the game's Install folder and run setup.exe (assuming you have Wine installed of course). Complete setup with all the defaults, and when you get to Atari registration skip it and select to never register.
Download OpenRCT2 and extract it to your Steam's install of RCT2 (not sure if this is needed, it can probably be extracted to any folder). It is going to ask where the current install of RCT2 is. Assuming you have everything default for Wine, expand Program Files (x86), Atari, and click on the folder Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. This should start the game.
I was never successful in starting the vanilla game straight from steam, however starting it through this modification was successful.

I used the Windows portable 64bit version of openrct2 to play it to fix the various saving issues previously mentioned, game works perfectly after renaming "openrct2.exe" to RCT2.exe shift+tab steam overlay does not work as well with steam screenshots with it for some reason.
Trying to rename rides opens a "windows themed" window which caused the game to crash.

Saving games can be difficult. The mouse orientation can be off, so use your keyboard. And do not save the game in the default location but select one in your home folder. That way saving and loading goes without a problem.

Runs perfectly without any tweaks! Worth it!

Works out of the box

Working perfectly out of the box.

install the openrct2 fork from https://openrct2.org/ Windows x64 Portable ZIP OpenRCT2-0.2.2-windows-x64.zip and start openrct2.exe via steam client proton

Game saving does not work, I have had a single crash, could not replicate it afterwards, according to the people here you can use the keyboard to save and load, I will try that and report back once I have.

Game won't start. It asks for its CD !!!

The game does not start in any way.

Game runs ok, until you want to save. Mouse doesn't work in save window (most of the time). Later I tried to quit with Alt+F4, game asked me, if I want to save, I clicked yes, window for saving files appeared, I pressed Enter, it seemed to work, until I tried to load the game - there was no save file to load from.

There is problem with saves. The windows doesn't recognize mouse. You need to use keyboard to be able to save.

Save game window can mess up and move from the RCT2 Saved Games folder and there is no way on the wine explorer to get back into .steam/. But you can still save your game file somewhere else on your machine.

Unable to save Gamel

Saving seems to have issues

Everything working.

Runs well without workaround
