Defaults don't work for this game
Tried using Steam recommended and forced experimental with the same results. Game launches the intro/credit movie but does not load the menu. Audio loops and application is non-responsive requiring forced quit.

FSR upscaling mostly fixes it
Music and dialogue skipping
The letter 'i' can't be used in character names for some reason
The -sortbyz launch command may reduce audio skipping issues, but it definitely does not fix them. FSR upscaling is needed to make the in-game text readable, but it also seems to cause artifacting with character shadows.
Worked out of the box for me. Didn't try LAN.

Proton-6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.1-GE-2 and changing winecfg to run as Windows XP
Unable to open any multiplayer games.
It runs a lot better under wine than it does any currently maintained windows system. If I could find what is preventing multiplayer functions there wouldn't be a reason for me to keep my winXP box around.

Works after some tweaking.
At first launches with Proton experimental version I had game in a window with black screen and a try to open movie introduction in another window but was not working. Then I tried on a previous version (4.2.11), black screen but by pressing escape, game started. Then I went back to last Proton 5.13.16 and it worked perfectly.
Works fine on Proton 4.11-13 under MX Linux, though it did seem to run on the warm side.
Interestingly, I could not get this same game to run correctly under Manjaro on the same hardware.

Starts with a black screen, click past. No cinematic. The sound skips around when listening to the busker.

Amazing works in game(didnt working on win , but works on lin) , only one problem : not work movies

I bought this game back in the 90's. I spent many hours playing solo and multiplayer. I stopped playing after I could not get it to work on the newer windows. Now it works on Linux, except that the AVI videos do not play.

Black screen on launch.

Runs great without tweaking. No cutscenes.

I had problems running this with earlier Proton, but now everything works without issues.

Tested on Chromebook, still no cinematics, but the game runs perfect otherwise.

Just tested on Manjaro, decided to verify on my Mint install, runs great out of the box. Still seems to hang on a black screen for a second before moving to the main screen, and I don't think the cinematics are working, but the game itself runs great.

I initially started the game with noesync, because of seeing other reviews here. It ran perfectly, so I decided to remove the launch option, and it still loaded up just fine. I selected platinum because it launched with no options, but YMMV. The screen did also stay black for a second or two before loading the main menu. That may have been my HDD or not, but FYI.

Game does not even open. Crashes after hitting the play button in Steam. Game is bundled with SafeDisc copy protection program, which may be related to why the game does not start.

Opens the window that immediately crashes to desktop
