Random FPS Drops
Crashes on leaving the initial area if not using Proton 4.11
mf install did not work
Not playable beyond the initial area. Tried media foundation DLL and almost every Proton and GE proton I had installed. (GE-7+, Proton 4.11+).
A TV screen in the first game booth encountered in-game does not load as it is supposed to.
Frame drops in security booth section to ~20 FPS on medium settings, but remained playable.
Unable to advance after approaching Carrion booth in-game; screen freezes and inputs are ignored. Game ambience and sound effects continue to play, but controls are ignored, and game must be forced closed.
As mentioned, game progress past the first 5 minutes seems apparently impossible due to crashing.
Didn't have the blank billboard issue observed on Proton v4.11! But that doesn't mean much if the game crashes elsewhere.
Working solution for my configuration:
- Proton 4.11
- Media Foundation DLL
- Vsync off
Impossible to progress after 5 minutes of gameplay
Game trailer on tv doesn't load it, making it impossible to progress in the game
Game constantly microstutters making it very difficult to aim.
As stated earlier, impossible to beat the game
If you somehow don't have any issues with this game, it's pretty good
Without MF utils, most billboards will be blank
Game ran mostly fine on GE and on official Proton, but after installing MF utils the game would run at single digit framerates (I'm playing on a Ryzen 7 2700 with a RX580)
Game crashed about 4 times in less than an hour
Unfortunately for me, everything I've tried resulted in either decent framerates but being stuck as trailers wouldn't play, or being able to play trailers.... at 5 FPS on Low settings
Essential videos are all white
Hangs after a few minutes to an hour of gameplay
mf-install fixes videos but the game still randomly hangs
Install media foundation dll for viewing the trailers inside the game. Clone the repo https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install and run the install script
When you pause the game the mouse controller shows up and when you resume it it stays there until you click and drag around.
The frame rate drops to low 20's for the first 10-15 minutes after sometime it averages around 30-35 fps.
Game consistenly freezes after short play time
Used GloriusEggroll for mf but nevr got far enough for it to be useful
Resolution and Vsync settings didn't have any effect so the game ran at 4K resolution only, which resulted in less than ideal performance.
i clone this repo https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install and follow the example in the README for proton
at serious sam booth and later it goes from 50 fps to 15 fps
When I got to the white screens I realized it needed MF Install, went ahead and added MF and game worked perfectly
runs great with Media Foundation installed into the proton prefix
Used mf-install to get trailers to load. https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
Game stutters infrequently.
Crashed once, but was able to complete the game.
Has periodic lagging; I've heard people had this issue on windows too however
The actual trailers for the games do not play; there's a white screen instead
progress blocked due to videos that do not play. (probably mf-install or similar will solve the problem)
Trailer videos won't play
The game trailer videos doesn't play
5.11-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
GE
Proton 5.0-9 won't register the mouse, with 5.11-GE-2-MF that issue was gone
Troublesome, bad performance, game breaking bug ...
Heavy stuttering, switching to windowed mode greatly reduced stuttering but didn't fix it
Unable to progress further due to trailers not loading
Since the game is stuck at the booths you'll not be able to continue this game at least for now.
The trailer is not viewable which is essential to continue the game. Essentially you'll be stuck at the booths
Videos don't play and watching them is required to continue
Used mf-install
Maybe shader caching related. Tons of stutters in new areas. Runs mostly fine after that.
Kinda working, but not a good experience.
Performance was stuttery even on the lowest settings.
Screens in-game that display trailers are white.
You get stuck in the game when you are unable to watch the trailers for CARRION and Weird West
The televisions in-game were just white, as you play through the game it gives options to "Play Trailer" on the TVs, and those do nothing. I suspect it's trying to load some kind of video and failing.
It can run, but progress is immediately stumped by not being able to watch trailers in-game.
I mean, I literally could not find a save feature in the game. If there is, please ignore this part of the report.
Bit of stutters here and there
So far, I've tested with GloriousEggroll's Proton versions and the official builds by Valve. If you decide to use GE, the game will freeze up randomly very early on to the point of it being impossible to progress beyond the starting area.
You cannot watch trailers. This is a problem that will prevent you from progressing in the quest line beyond the first Devolver conference room.
it works decently fine
Game can not be completed because of not being able to load the videos to complete the objectives.
Trailers and other video-based assets do not load properly.
Game stutters infrequently.
It's a neat idea, and a great way to advertise future games in the time of the rona.
In-game video (game trailers) would not play when "use" prompt activated.
