Game works well, feels like there is a little bit of input lag but same happens on windows

Encountered no issues so far.
Proton 9.0-4 worked perfectly fine, that being said I didn't play much so I can't say I tested everything. I don't really have any personal interest in the game, I just play with friends for fun. Proton 8.0-5, the version I use normally after having issues with Hotfix and Experimental, didn't work at all (the game didn't launch).

Use Proton 9 and it works well, no big issues.

Tried multiple options, didn't work.
Tried proton 10 through to 7 including experimental and hotfix, and some custom launch options, none of them worked.

Not viable for competitive play at all, almost impossible to react to anything or make combos with so much lag.
Very laggy, playable but clunky and laggy, with noticeable of input lag
The problem wasn't internet latency, since I also tried playing offline with bots, and the experience was equally bad.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -framefix -framefixunbounded -setfps 120
Before tinkering it was extremly laggy, and I had huge delays
After the launch options I have no problems in game, it even runs smoother than on windows

Smooth gameplay out of the box with no issues at all
Didnt configure anything, uses Proton Experimental by default.
Felt like playing the game on Windows

-framefixunbounded -triplebuffer
Every half a second (before tinkering), the game would halt. Then keep running normally.
Using the tinkering steps I've used, your game should now run perfectly, and is also legitimate for ranked play.
It Just Works!

-setfps 360 -triplebuffer
Use the launch options to unlock fps and disable v-sync

So far, only played the tutorial, but ran well
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -framefix -framefixunbounded -setfps 120
I had massive unplayable stutters running the game without the launch options. Adding the launch options makes the games smooth

Works out of the box.
Installed using Steam comptatibility mode, Proton Hotfix, no extra commands. Game running out of the box.
Here a video on how to install and 2 minute gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj0JCJobsfk

__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -triplebuffer -setfps 240
In my experience, using -triplebuffer
reduced input delay, and setting PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
improved overall smoothness.
The two environment variables before PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
— __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1
and __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia
— are used for enabling NVIDIA offloading on NixOS.

__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -framefixunbounded -setfps 144
use either one of -framefix or -framefixunbounded. BIG INPUT DELAY problem when not using wine launch options
Works just fine. They flipped on EAC support sometime in the last couple months, so you can play Ranked.
Works out of the box!

My hardware is pretty dated so I did experience 1-2 dropped frames, but should not be an issue on decent hardware
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -framefix -framefixunbounded -setfps 120
-unlockfps -high PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -framefix -framefixunbounded -setfps 120
runs well if added these launch options

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Framerate was very low before setting the PROTON_USE_WINED3D
launch option
No problems found with online multiplayer
I am unsure as to whether or not my pre-tinkered experience would be representative for the average Brawlhalla player on Linux, but in my case, things were much worse without the tweaks. In my case, the game did not launch at all without switching from Proton 8.0-5 to Proton Experimental, and the significant FPS-related issues were solved with the launch option.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -framefix -framefixunbounded -setfps 120 -noeac
Switch to Proton Experimental; Proton 9.0-4 with provided launch option results in an error message regarding the steam compatibility tool (the current version of Proton)
Sometimes drops frames, freezing the game for milliseconds, but otherwise works flawlessly

I think external controllers are important for this kind of game. Both casual and competitive.
External controller (which I need for consistency) not responsive in game. Thus not viable for competitive play.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 gamemoderun %command% -framefix -framefixunbounded -setfps 60 -noeac
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -framefix -framefixunbounded -setfps 120 -noeac
The game runs how it should, no significant delay as others mentioned with proton Experimental. Proton GE did give delay.

I did not switch to experimental for this game, it was just what I happened to set as default in steam and I did not bother to change it. I don't think it is required.
Game runs great without any changes. Only occasionally it says that some file is missing on startup, but a restart fixes that for me.
gamemoderun mangohud %command% -setfps 144 -framefix -nonetworknext
It worked fine previously but now it won't even opened!

Input delay with gnome desktop environment, switching to xcfe fixes this, and gives 60 fps.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -framefix -framefixunbounded -setfps 65 -noeac
input delay and lag when gameplay is prolonged
