Vanilla multiplayer is all but dead, but the fan-run servers can be run without issue via Lutris
(Using third-party servers for reference)
Either setup a Lutris instance, or make a new Non-steam entry for Ketaui, and run its included launcher. Works absolutely fine if one wants to play either Hi-rez (vanilla, dead) or fan servers.
100% DOA "Internal error on install proxy2"
Game installed. First run and error: "Internal error on install proxy2". I tried different Proton version to on avail. I use Debian Testing, all other games works ok on this machine.
Weird login issues. Just keep trying. No need for a launch argument.
After successfully logging in it froze for a minute and then let me in.
Sometimes wont let you login. Just keep trying.
The game is abandoned
The game cannot be played at all without the login, but the login server is apparently defunct. Also, suggestions from the community to start the game with an alternate IP also appear to be old and non-working now.
For all intents and purposes, this game is 100% dead without some community server to play on.
Mild stuttering and less FPS than on Windows
Set "-hostx=23.239.17.171" in the launcher options to login. Biggest issue is the lack of players however.
I was able to max out all the visual settings and it played perfectly. Just wish more populated servers were available.

Just ignore the errors during setup, once the game launches everything works perfectly.

I didn't encounter any networking issues, nor did I have to run the arguments listed on this page. Simply installed, pressed play, and it worked. Resolution was 1024x768 initially, but that's normal even in Windows; A trip to the graphics options fixed that. It does run the initial setup each time you start it, and it gives two 'errors', but simply ignoring them gets the game up.

You have to set the "Launch Options" in the Steam Properties for this Game to "-hostx=23.239.17.171" then you can login an play like on Windows ... The Game is not listed in the Steam Search anymore. You can get it through this link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/17080/Tribes_Ascend/ Hopefully there will be more players in the near future again ...
