The game itself is a bit dated but runs well on Linux but I only got it to work using Proton 7.0-4 version

Played through the tutorial no issues of any kind. The game is slow to launch and produces a black square instead of a splash screen. I thought the game was hung but after about 20 seconds it fired right up
