does not save resolution settings and tries to run on default 640x480
Crushes on start.
The game can be played without much tinkering, but only on OpenGL mode with fullscreen disabled. Install game patches to make Direct3D work.
Used protontricks to install amstream, quartz, devenum and qdvd to fix video and audio issues. However this fix works for EftbP. As for TMP and LS, the fix has no effect for videos.
BGM was missing. Add amstream
with protontricks and it should be fixed.
Initially only OpenGL works without issues, but the game won't run when the resolution is set to anything with 16:9 aspect ratio. There's a patch provided by IEO that lets the game run with Direct3D and 1920x1080 res.
On higher resolutions and using OpenGL, all elements on the right and bottom side of construction/research panel are not clickable. The patch provided by IEO should fix this issue.
Some minor graphic glitches can appear when restarting mission while playing main campaign (black squares on the ground, glitching fonts). Luckily this doesn't occur on reloading save file. While using Direct3D, game crashes on entering construction menu. The game freezes or crashes when completing a campaign (this may be related to cutscene issues).
These are steps I followed to make Direct3D and 16:9 res work (I did it for all 3 games):
- Use these winetricks/protontricks:
amstream quartz devenum qdvd
(sidenote: the cutscenes works only for EftbP. I tried many ways to make cutscenes work on TMP and LS, but with no results. The only fix for TMP and LS is to fully disable cutscenes by removing all content in Video directory) - Install patches provided here: https://wiki.insideearth.info/wiki/Earth2150#Game_Patches (each patch is separate for the corresponding game)
- Optionally for TMP or LS, install EarthExtensions for QoL changes: https://github.com/InsideEarth2150/EarthExtensions/tree/main (this should also fix issues with fast spinning ui icons in construction/research menu)
- Set graphic settings to Direct3D, 1920x1080 res, fullscreen, no intros, no autoplay.
music won't play
loading bars and energy symbols due to low power are missing
D3D in windowed mode opens a too small window
videos won't play except game intro
OpenGL is a must, otherwise the game will crash when opening the construction menu
Black screen
There are a lot of briefing movies in the game - movies not playing is a serious detriment to the experience.
You need to use the config tool to find the option that works for your setup. OpenGL option did not work on mine, for instance.
Movies do not play. Black screen on start - you have to ESC to get to game menu.
Need to install "amstream quartz devenum qdv" via winetricks to get Video and Music working.
Very occasional freezes, and the intro video is broken, but apart from that it's both playable and enjoyable.
Audio froze into a short loop after over four hours of playing. Might be related to a massive number of simultaneous sounds trying to play.
Direct3D mode fails to run in Windowed mode, requires the use of full-screen
The game seems to freeze randomly (2 times over 4+ hours of playing), requiring a force closure and a relaunch.
To get the in-game music and video to work, you need to use protontricks/winetricks to add amstream
and quartz
not starting
Just a black screen, if you tab out of it the game crashes
Unable to launch the game.
Black screen on launch.
Works well, but cinematics won't play, even after install quartz
It works when I disable videos. Both Direct3D and OpenGL works, but OpenGL only plays in windowed mode, and on some aspect ratios the lower part of the screen won't fit my screen, making it impossible to exit
Crashes if klicking on production icon, opengl does not work in general here
It crashes when I click on the vehicle engineering icon
Tested a few minutes in max resolution. No problem to report.
Runs with no issues after setting OpenGL instead of D3D in the game settings tool. Otherwise can't click stuff in research/construction window
-Launching required disabling the intro video -Selecting Construction Center in-game crashes the game (paste: https://vim.cx/?e75ea7f7bfe6e4ab#ugDBbB4di+z/b3L4mXa7kSGHU0dZpAQ7eYXUtxzrGBU= )
