Works perfectly out of the box
Default control mapping was for AZERTY keyboard layout, but could be easily remapped to the usual WASD.
Initially started in windowed mode, trying to change the resolution froze my machine. No issues since then.
Fix audio in cutscenes:
- Open
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/105000/pfx/system.reg
in text editor - Find section
[System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Session Manager\\Environment]
- Append
"SDL_AUDIODRIVER"="winmm"
Setting the same variable via launch options (as recommended in reports for older Proton versions) did not help.
Alt-Tab didn't work.
Crashed after the final cutscene of chapter 2. Skipping the cutscene helped.
Works great except for infrequent crashes
Game occasionally freezes and has to be killed. Only a minor inconvenience thanks to frequent autosaves.
Works well out of the box
End credits video isn't playing, just shows the Proton test pattern image.
Default Proton (7.0-5) and Next (7.0-6) hung right after the initial Agatha Christie logo. Experimental worked perfectly, including full video playback.
Some video cutscenes in the first three chapters aren't playing. Watch on Youtube if you care for the story.
Achievements are now working with Proton 5.13.
Runs fine without tweaks
Very noticeable tearing, despite VSync being enabled by default. It actually seems to be slightly better without VSync.
One short non-interactive sequence ran in slow-motion with crackling sound.
Tweaked config files to set resolution, framerate and disable intro videos
Medium or high PhysX quality causes frequent performance issues and at least one reproducible crash. No more issues after setting it to low.
Menus were only partially visible with default resolution, making it difficult to change it. Had to tweak the config file to set the native resolution.
Runs almost perfectly out of the box
In two dialogue scenes the comic panels overlapped and became unreadable.
Ran mostly fine with default Proton (8.0-2), but kept crashing during Zoe's flashback scenes. Once right at the start of chapter 1, then repeatedly in chapter 6. At that point I switched to 7.0-6 and didn't have any more issues.
Runs great out of the box
Each episode is a separate Steam title and runs in its own Proton prefix, so settings and choices don't carry over. Fortunately the only story choice is the cover name Marty picks for himself in 1931, so it's randomized in each episode.
Works very well out of the box
- No issues playing with an Xbox 360 controller.
- Occasional mild stutter near scene transitions.
protontricks 35140 mdx d3dx9 d3dcompiler_43 win10
Crashed every one or two hours on average
This deserves a medium rating. It runs fine most of the time, but requires some (legally questionable) tweaks and crashes from time to time. No hardware-accelerated PhysX, so enabling it slows the game down to a crawl. The game does not exit cleanly and must be manually killed.
The launch flags for disabling Esync or enabling D9VK mentioned in other reviews are no longer required with Proton 5.x.
- No graphics with Proton 5.x, just music. Manually select 4.11 to play.
- Disable Esync to get rid of stutter.
- Reinstalls .NET libraries on every start, takes about 20 seconds.
- Game starts in background and must be manually raised. On the plus side this somehow skips the annoying intro videos.
Works well out of the box
Occasional stutter in new locations
Videos aren't playing. Not really required for appreciating the game, but you're missing out on potentially interesting background info about oceanography -- and two achievements tied to watching all the episodes.
Kept switching between Proton versions, hence the "Tinker" report:
- At first the game hung on the initial loading screen with default Proton (6.3-2), so I switched back to 5.13. That worked well until about halfway through the game, when it got stuck on a black screen while playing an unskippable video cutscene.
- Tried again with default Proton (by that time 6.3-3 had been released) and could continue to play until the end of the game.
Set launch options: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
Mostly fixed by setting launch options, but still noticeable in some scenes
Crashed twice in a row at the same point; rebooting allowed me to play past it. There are similar reports from Windows users.
Works perfectly out of the box
Played through the solo campaign, will update my report once I try coop.
Play with Proton if you care about achievements
As with the first two games, achievements don't unlock in the native version. Playing with Proton works around this.
Runs just fine
No window appeared on first start, had to kill the process and try again. No more issues after that.
As with Blackwell Legacy, play with Proton (instead of native) if you want achievements
Launch options: PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% -NoStartupMovies
Crashed twice in 80 hours.
Quite some stutter on first launch, but that was over after a few minutes. Didn't try multiplayer yet, will update my report when I do.
Downloaded Silent Patch (build 3) and unzipped in game directory. Not sure if it's necessary, but the game is reported to crash often without it.
- Game window minimizes after splash screen
- Changing the resolution screws up the game window, needs a restart
Intro video doesn't play. Watch it on Youtube to get some context.
Runs fine out of the box
Some stuttering when loading new areas, and all through chapter 6
Works well without tinkering
Froze once and had to be forcefully closed
Works fine except for some missing videos
Startup video isn't playing, also some optional in-game easter-egg videos seem to be missing.
Use protontricks 269330 dotnet20 dotnet40
. I had to uninstall and reinstall the game before the .NET 4.0 installation succeeded.
Crashed twice, always at the beginning of a chapter so no progress was lost.
Runs very well without any tweaks
Game keeps capturing key events after Alt-Tab
Four crashes in 35 hours gameplay.
Force to run in Proton
Native version has broken fullscreen mode, at least with Nvidia cards. Force the game to run with Proton to work around it.
Still works perfectly
Replayed after the release of the final (free) DLC. No issues at all.
Runs perfectly, no tweaks, no issues
Played through the entire game (68 hours) without issues. Online features not tested, I chose to play without logging in.
30 hours playtime, great performance, no issues except for a single crash. Proton version was selected by Valve, so I didn't bother trying a more recent version.
Runs perfectly well out of the box
Hanging DXSETUP.exe
process during first-time setup had to be killed. That's a very common issue with Proton 8.x and Nvidia.
The game failed to start with Proton 5.x. Manually selecting 4.11-13 and enabling D9VK solved the issue. Played for 34 hours without a single issue.
Runs great from beginning to end. Tutorial prompts only show controller buttons, even when playing with keyboard/mouse. Unplugging the controller helps. Doesn't seem to be a Proton issue, though.
Works well enough out of the box, performance issues disappear after some time
Heavy stutter during the intro and frequent pauses in the early game when entering new areas. The effect disappeared almost completely after the first few chapters.
Crashed once, dragging my entire desktop environment down.
Works great out of the box
On two occasions the controller did not respond in the game, although it worked fine in the menus. Restarting the game fixed that.
Runs perfectly out of the box
As with most games recently, a hanging DXSETUP.exe
needs to be killed for the first-time setup to complete (Nvidia only).
Works perfectly out of the box
Used the default option (DX11 renderer) in the launch menu. Didn't try DX12 or RTX.
Edit GraphicOptions.json
in game installation folder, change FRAME_RATE_LIMIT
to 4
Abysmal performance on first launch. After tweaking FRAME_RATE_LIMIT
as described in other reports the game ran reasonably well. Still some stutter in larger levels.
Crashes to desktop in one of the last levels ("Last Chance, Connor"). Not Proton-specific, there are several reports from Windows users about it. Downgrading Nvidia drivers is said to help, didn't try.
Abysmal performance on first launch. After tweaking FRAME_RATE_LIMIT
as described in other reports the game ran reasonably well. Still some stutter in larger levels.
The crash I reported earlier was fixed by Nvidia driver 460.32.03, so I could finally finish the game.
Contrary to my previous report the "Last Chance, Connor" crash was not (directly) fixed, but I found a workaround:
I noticed that I had been able to pass the chapter exactly twice, each time directly after an upgrade of the Nvidia drivers. On a hunch I deleted the ShaderCache
directory from the game folder and went through the lengthy shader compilation step one more time, and indeed I could pass the chapter again. The game also stutters quite badly on first launch, and I believe that's related.
Nvidia has released a hotfix (461.33) that is reported to help for Windows players, but it's not yet available for Linux.
Works perfectly out of the box
Played the free trial, so only the first few hours of gameplay. No issues except one server-side disconnect.
Crashes right away
Tried emulating different Windows versions (7, 8.1 and 10), no difference.
Works fine out of the box
The title screen background shows a Proton test movie. No issues in the actual game.
Runs perfectly except for a tiny graphics issue
Weird shadows on the sea surface near screen borders or obstacles
Runs fine most of the time, no tweaks required
Crashed twice in 14 hours.
The mirror puzzle cased the framerate to drop to about one fps, had to quit and restart.
- Rename Edna.exe to EdnaLauncher.exe
- Create link: Edna.exe -> EdnaWrapper.exe
No sound at all, error messages about shared memory on stdout. Did work twice after a few tries, but I can no longer reproduce it.
New Unity-based version works well
- Initial Daedalic logo video isn't playing, can be skipped with right mouse click.
- Doesn't exit cleanly and needs to be forcefully terminated.
WINE_DO_NOT_CREATE_DXGI_DEVICE_MANAGER=1 %command%
The few video cutscenes are badly distorted without the mentioned launch options. The actual game works fine with or without tweaks.
Whether this works or not depends on the display properties. The game requires a native 800x600 video mode. It runs flawlessly if a matching mode is available, otherwise it screws up.
If you have a display that does not support 800x600 natively, try selecting 800x600 (scaled) in the NVidia configuration utility.
Runs perfectly out of the box
At first launch the game window didn't cover the desktop panel. No more issue after restarting.
Videos aren't playing (menu background, intro and outro).
Lack of cutscenes is no big issue for this 10-minute teaser, but I wouldn't recommend the full game with this limitation.
Still no luck with latest Proton
Black screen after tutorial
Works perfectly out of the box
Played through the whole game three times without issues
Launch options: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
Experienced two crashes in 100+ hours of playtime. Pretty good, considering the game's sub-par reputation.
Well playable despite a few issues
Some savegames failed to load directly after startup. Workaround was to restart the game and load an older savegame first, then the desired one.
Explosion effects caused heavy stutter
Infrequent crashes or hangs
There NVAC mod is supposed to improve stability and fix the dreaded infinite loading screen. I didn't try it, though.
Joystick is ultra-sensitive in the menus. No issues in game.
Game has a native build, but it only gave me a white screen. Running with Proton hung in the splash screen at first start, but worked fine the second time.
Runs perfectly out of the box, no tweaks required
- Contrary to all other reports I did not have to force D3D9. Played through the whole game without issues.
- Achievements don't unlock before quitting the game, but I suspect that's normal for this game.
Works fine out of the box
Framerate feels a little underwhelming for a low-poly game like this.
SteamDeck=1 %command%
Animated cutscenes don't play without launch options. Setting them has the minor drawback of locking the command prompts to controller, which might be distracting for keyboard/mouse players.
There was jittering text when opening the automap, stabilized after changing tabs.
Runs great out of the box
Video and audio are slightly out of sync in video cutscenes. Not a Proton issue, I see the same when playing the video files with mplayer.
cd "${STEAM_COMPAT_INSTALL_PATH}/launcher"; %command%
Finally! I've waited eight years to play this. 🎉
At first my controller wasn't properly recognized, but that was probably caused by years of tinkering attempts. Deleting the Proton prefix (steamapps/compatdata/223220
) helped.
Deleted EpicOnlineServices
Some crackling during the prologue and epilogue cutscenes, no issues during the actual game.
Crashed three or four times within 40 hours.
The game failed to launch initially, so I followed Chizu's guidance and deleted the EpicOnlineServices
folder from the game directory, as well as the Proton prefix. The game worked perfectly fine after that.
Works fine out of the box
Frequent issue with recent Proton and Nvidia: At first launch a hanging DXSETUP.exe process needs to be killed for the installation to complete.
Frequent crashes in the late game make the collectible hunt pretty tedious
Minor stuttering
Runs great for the first few hours, but becomes increasingly unstable with game progress. Seems to be running out of memory.
Works fine except for a recent Nvidia issue
Crashed twice in two playthroughs ("UE Fatal Error" dialog)
Hanging DXSETUP.exe
process on first launch, needs to be killed to continue. Known Proton/Nvidia incompatibility, reported to be fixed in Nvidia 535.98.
Set launch options to »WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
« to fix lip sync
Frequent pauses, often when changing camera angle; annoying but not game-breaking. Custom Proton is said to help, but I didn't try it.
Set launch options to »WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
« to fix lip sync
Frequent pauses, often when changing camera angle; annoying but not game-breaking. Custom Proton is said to help, but I didn't try it.
Update: I've replayed the game after my first report and all stutter was gone, except for a few scenes that I hadn't seen before. Whatever the game is doing during those pauses, the result seems to be cached.
All three episodes work out of the box.
Same as episodes 1 and 2: Alt-Tab just pauses the game, but keeps it in foreground. Switching to windowed mode (using window manager hotkeys) works.
Runs pretty well
Can't Alt-Tab out of the window. Switching to a different workspace or using the window manager's fullscreen hotkey works.
Game froze when talking to one character at one specific point. Don't think it's Proton-related, there are similar reports in the discussion forum.
Runs fine out of the box
Alt-Tab just pauses the game, but the window stays in front.
Some imperfections, but certainly enjoyable
Occasional flickering
Becomes a bit sluggish after extended run time. Restarting the game helps.
Crashed once during credits at the beginning of the game
Well playable with minor issues
Crackling and audio sync issues in cinematic cutscenes, especially the Pensieve memories.
Frame rate drops significantly from time to time till fast travelling or reloading a savegame. Upgrading RAM (from 16GB to 28GB) helped, but it still occurs.
Works fine except for some broken cutscenes
Some (not all) cutscenes show just a black screen or an empty room.
Runs perfectly out of the box
If you're thinking about buying the game, I'd recommend the Director's Cut. It has native Linux support.
protontricks 110800 d3dx9_43 d3dcompiler_43 d3dx11_43 d3dcompiler_47
- Edit settings.ini file in Proton prefix, change "DirectX 9" to "DirectX 11"
Crashed once in 50 hours
- B0rked with default Proton (6.3-2): Videos aren't playing, game hangs after the intro.
- Plays fine with 3.16-9, but achievements aren't working.
- No issues with 4.11-13.
Actual game plays fine, cutscenes between levels are broken
Video cutscenes are messed up: multiple overlaid images in different scales and wrong colors
WINE_DO_NOT_CREATE_DXGI_DEVICE_MANAGER=1 %command%
Setting the launch options to "WINE_DO_NOT_CREATE_DXGI_DEVICE_MANAGER=1 %command%
" solves the video playback issue mentioned in my previous report. Kudos to the tireless @kisak-valve in the Proton Github project!
Works fine out of the box
The game has a few rough edges, but nothing serious. Probably not Proton-specific.
Runs great out of the box
Native version failed to start in Fedora 35, complaining about a missing glibc symbol. Proton to the rescue!
Thanks to Annie for the instructions how to enable VSync!
Upgraded from demo to full game now, works like a charm
The launcher is mostly just a black window, but the big blue "Play" button is clearly visible and works.
May take a few times to start properly, but then everything runs perfectly
More often than not the game would start up with lousy framerate and not react to mouse buttons or controller input. Restarting once or twice would eventually resolve it.
Did not try Enhanced Edition.
Works great, no tinkering required
Switching to a different window caused the game to become unresponsive.
Runs well out of the box
Mouse pointer has a small vertical offset after start. Switching to windowed (Esc) and back to fullscreen resolves the issue.
Crashed once.
Three-second freezes every couple of minutes. Slightly annoying, but no deal breaker.
The final video isn't playing, so you'll have to resort to YouTube to see the conclusion.
With Proton 6.3 and 7.0 the game crashes right after the menu.
Works great out of the box
Game hung once when picking up a specific object. Not Proton-related, the same issue is reported by Windows users.
Runs great
Mouse clicks didn't register in the menu initially. Alt-tabbing out of the window fixed that.
gamemoderun ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 MANGOHUD=1 %command%
Flickering plants in a few scenes (maybe three or four during the game)
Crashed once during the Dweller boss fight
Without launch options the game hangs after the Marvel logo. Seems to be limited to Nvidia GPUs, judging from other reports.
Works great out of the box
Like many Unreal games this starts in a background window and must be manually raised.
Almost perfect, except for minor audio issues
Audio starts crackling after prolonged playing. Restarting the game fixes this.
Game starts in a background window and must be manually raised quickly before it goes fullscreen. Cannot get back into game after leaving with Alt-Tab.
Freezes hard when entering the cemetery. Set launch options to "-dx9" (without quotes) to disable DirectX 11 and play past that part.
Missing cutscenes, no issues during actual gameplay
Cutscenes are not playing. Installing the Media Foundation libraries is reported to help, but since that solution is legally questionable I chose to watch the cutscenes in this YouTube video instead. Not perfect, but good enough to enjoy the game.
Gameplay is fine, but spoiled by missing cutscenes
Cutscenes aren't playing, making it hard to follow the story. Also I've found no way to skip them, so you have to stare at a black screen until they're over.
Runs very well except for missing animated images
Animated emojis in the in-game chat are displayed as test videos. There aren't too many of those, fortunately.
Runs very well, as expected from a whitelisted title
Alt-Tab doesn't work. Seems to be the case in pretty much all games with recent Proton.
Mouse pointer remains visible all the time, but can be moved to a corner. The game froze once in mid-fight, and at another point the audio started crackling. No big deal for >30h play time.
Noticeable stutter in the prologue; seems to have been improved a bit by disabling ESync, but that may be my imagination. Anyway, the game ran smooth as silk after the first ten minutes.
Runs almost flawlessly out of the box
Overall performance was good, but tanked in a few areas at the end of chapter four.
Game has a known bug where the character can't move after loading a savegame. Disable the head bob animation to fix it.
Use protontricks to install vcrun2008. In Fedora:
pip3 install --user protontricks
~/.local/bin/protontricks 200010 vcrun2008
Game starts in a background window and must be manually raised quickly before going fullscreen.
Works out of the box
Takes some time at startup before keyboard/mouse input is accepted. Some stutter, especially in the last chapter, but that's expected with my old hardware.
Full playthrough, runs perfectly except for Alt-Tab issues
Alt-Tab doesn't work, the game just pauses and stays in foreground.
New version runs perfectly without any tweaks
The game received a major rework in December 2018 and now works perfectly with Proton. The old version is still available, but I didn't bother trying it again.
Runs perfectly fine, no tweaks required
Played through the single-player campaign without significant issues. Did not try online.
Works very well out of the box
Starts in background and must be manually raised. Alt-Tab does not work.
Crashed once in 13 hours
Runs great out of the box, no issues except Alt-Tab not working
Alt-Tab doesn't work; the game pauses but stays in foreground
Works out of the box
Crackling audio when scrolling
The game has no builtin fullscreen option, so I used the window manager's fullscreen hotkey.
Works OK except for some missing cutscenes
Some ingame cutscenes aren't playing, only showing a test image. Switching to Experimental didn't help.
No improvement since Proton 6.3-2
Game still hangs with a black screen right after the menu.
There is a native Linux beta of the game, but I had crackling audio and the achievements do not work. I recommend to play with Proton instead.
Works perfectly without tweaks or issues
With Proton 5.x none of the tweaks recommended by earlier posters seem to be required. Saving or loading from the menu works fine. Good performance at maximum detail level (unsurprisingly for a 19 year old game running on modern hardware).
Runs out of the box (ignoring the launcher warning about not finding a video adapter) and plays great most of the time. The game has a few glitches, but those are reported by Windows users as well -- nothing Proton-related.
%command% -d3d11
Without tweaks the game crashes at the end of the tutorial mission.
Runs well apart from some audio stutter
Minor stuttering and crackle
Does not release keyboard/mouse grab when switching out of window, no interaction with other applications possible
All three games run great without tweaks
Pre-rendered cutscenes are playing in random languages (with English subtitles). There's a fixup script available on Github, but I didn't bother trying it.
🎉 Finally! 🎊
Kept trying this for years, since Proton 3.7 according to my report below. With 6.3 it finally works out of the box.
I had to delete the prefix from my previous attempts first, could be considered "tinkering".
Some (non-essential) videos aren't playing, no other issues
Black screen during intro videos. Also one in-game monitor in episode 4 stayed black.
Works great out of the box
As with most games recently, a hanging DXSETUP.exe
needs to be killed for the first-time setup to complete (Nvidia only).
Runs great except for missing videos (intro and ending)
Videos aren't playing with stock Proton. Watch on YouTube if you care.
Works very well (when it starts)
Occasionally started in an invisible window showing no activity, eventually worked after some amount of window switching and/or restarting. The issue happened less frequently after a few days, so maybe I was just too impatient.
One or two late-game scenes caused heavy frame rate drops, could be resolved by a restart.
Runs perfectly fine from start to finish
Alt-tabbing just pauses the game, but the window stays in foreground. Switching to a different virtual desktop works, though.
Runs very well out of the box
Crashed once after about 10 hours
Like many Unreal Engine games the game opens in a background window and must be manually raised
Forced use of Proton
One-pixel lines around overlay graphics, most notable in character portraits
Game-breaking control problems in native version, both with gamepad and mouse. Switching to Proton helped.
Alt-tabbing out of the game can mess up the graphics. Some very minor graphics glitches. No problems with gameplay.
The native version is a joke, it doesn't play cutscenes and achievements don't work. The game runs much better with Proton.
Runs almost perfectly
The post-credits cutscene is distorted beyond recognition. This can probably be fixed by setting the launch options to:
WINE_DO_NOT_CREATE_DXGI_DEVICE_MANAGER=1 %command%
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=d" %command%
Without launch options there is no audio in cutscenes.
Runs perfectly out of the box
Multiplayer runs completely offline, no network connection required. From a technical point this game is no different from a single-player title.
Runs fine out of the box
Music seemed to be jumbled in some scenes.
Runs well out of the box
When I replayed parts of the game a second time some important ambient sounds were missing, like ringing phones. No idea what triggered it, everything was perfect the first time around.
At one point the protagonist is watching a VHS tape on a TV. The sound was playing OK, but the picture remained dark. Not game-breaking.
gamemoderun PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Game did not start with default Proton (error dialog: "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system"). Switching to Experimental and setting the PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI
enviroment variable helped.
Watch intro video from game folder, loop-mount USB stick image
Broken audio in intro video; skip it and watch TUSFitG.mp4
from the game folder.
There is practically no gameplay in the usual sense, it's all about digging through a stranger's private data. The game itself is just a window asking for three passwords to unlock three achievements, which works fine with Proton.
Accessing the file system requires a little tinkering. You can either loop-mount the image as root (see previous reports) or simply open it with Gnome's "Disk Image Mounter" application. Given that the entire game is really about tinkering that seems quite acceptable. I don't believe you're missing out on any content.
Works pretty well without any tweaks
Occasionally part of the voiceover audio is skipped.
- Two insignificant tutorial cutscenes are missing.
- Sometimes hangs on exit and must be forcefully terminated.
Full playthrough, more than 50 hours of gameplay.
Ran perfectly for 25 hours straight, then became very unstable during the showdown of act 3. Crashed once or twice more in act 4, then played again fine till the end.
Weird effect: Holding the Alt key (highlight hotspots) while running sounds the PC internal speaker.
Runs great out of the box; no tweaks, no issues
Played with a friend with a similar setup, so I can confirm that both sides of the game work perfectly with Proton.
-screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080
1080p resolution wasn't available via the settings menu, but setting it via launch options worked fine.
Gameplay runs just fine, missing video in cutscenes
Videos aren't playing; there's sound, but the picture is solid white.
No 1080p resolution available. Highest resolution is 1920x800, which makes scene transitions look a bit odd.
gamemoderun %command% -dx11
Proton got stuck during first launch (issue 6912). The game only started after killing a hanging DXSetup.exe process.
Only worked once without launch options. On subsequent starts the game hung on the loading screen. After switching to DX11 everything worked fine.
Textures are blurry for 10-20 seconds after entering a new area.
Not starting unless using WineD3D
Weird effect on cave entrances; looks like the texture is rendered from a wrong perspective. Reflection on water surfaces or shadows also seemed a bit wrong from time to time.
Performance is not as great as could be expected from a "vintage" game. Disable Ambient Occlusion to fix heavy stutter near cave entrances.
The game failed to run with default Proton (8.0-2) and Experimental. Steam would stay in "Launching" state indefinitely, and after cancelling there would be a lot of background processes keeping it from exiting cleanly.
With 7.0-6 the game finally started and it was a smooth ride. After finishing I switched back to default Proton and now it worked, too. No idea what has changed.
Played for about 20 hours, no issues besides long loading times
Long loading times, apparently depending on map size; between one and two minutes for most maps. Switching to Proton 3.7 didn't help.
Works well, no tinkering required
Occasional stutter
Almost perfect if it wasn't for very rare crashes
Two crashes in 16 hours. Not a big deal thanks to super-frequent checkpoints.
Runs perfectly out of the box
Returned after a year and a half to play the new "Melody of Mystery" DLC. Played about eight more hours without a single issue.
Not playable
Stops working after leaving the first area, displays just a white screen and a message "Press to skip".
Runs almost perfectly without tweaks
- Starts in background and must be manually raised.
- Game window was hidden when Steam trading cards dropped; went back to normal after the "new item in inventory" notification was gone.
Works perfectly out of the box
Runs great out of the box
Chapter 8 didn't initialize properly, making it impossible to solve. Restarting the chapter solved the issue. Seems to be a known problem and not caused by Proton.
Both players played on Linux with Proton. Did not try the in-game voice chat.
Quite enjoyable despite its issues
The game is riddled with bugs. Mostly graphics glitches, but also things like getting stuck or falling out of the map. Nothing permanently game-breaking, though.
Runs fine without issues
Startup takes one minute before the game window even becomes visible. Actual gameplay is flawless.
