Game works well, the only issue is the total absence of gamepad detection.
Capped the game at 40fps and low details and played all the way through with a stable framerate.
Turned on VRS (Variable Rate Shading) - it looks uglier, but it dropped the TDP down by quite a bit.
VRS isn't something I'd normally suggest, but due to the simple artstyle you can get away with using it here. You'll notice the GPU usage dropping from 85% down to 50% and the Deckk system is quieter(fans) and cooler as well.
Finished game without issues
gamemoderun PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV %command%
Even with my tweeks it is a little sluggish
With these launch options it seemed to make the game playable
I installed gamemode with the command sudo apt install gamemode and I check it is running with the command gamemoded -s Plus obviously only use the AMD command if you have an AMD graphics card
broken doesnt even launch
broken
Seems to work good after about the first hour of gameplay
Framerate sometimes drops to ~55 fps, while being locked to 60 in windows
Works perfectly
Everything works seamlessly after activating steam play and "unverified games". Steady 60fps with V-Sync enabled (I always enable V-Sync!)
People report needing vcrun2010, it was already installed on my default WINE prefix, can't tell if it made a difference.
The game wouldn't launch when it was installed on my NAS as my native Linux games normally do (UNRAID NFS share). As soon as I switched the files to my local Steam folder, it fired-up right away... did not investigate this issue as I don't really care.. it is a small game, I don't mind installing it locally.
I played "Grow Home" natively on Linux (previous chapter of this game) and can't tell any difference in the experience... They both behave the same!
Proton it will work out of the box but for Wine you need to install vcrun2010 via winetricks
does not start
tried suggested launch option PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Works great.
Frequent crashes in the late game make the collectible hunt pretty tedious
Minor stuttering
Runs great for the first few hours, but becomes increasingly unstable with game progress. Seems to be running out of memory.
Get around 80-90 fps, 1440p/high settings. Game has worked well since v 3.16
Runs perfectly at excellent performance; Used Xbox One Controller
Ran flawlessly at max detail without having to do anything.
Now running perfectly out of the box, 60fps with vsync on and graphics maxed out.
Game is working fine now with latest DXVK updates. FPS a bit low but playable. Got consistent 40-45FPS @ 1440p on High
Really laggy. Really low fps (5 fps sometimes), with constant framerate drops / stutter, makes the game unplayable.
Used command PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command% to go from crash on start to frozen screen.
Game starts and is playable. Decent performance; for some reason start button on Xbox controller doesn't work as it should.
Terrible performance (between 5~20 fps at best) in OpenGL. Unplayable.
Needs following start option to run: PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Silky smooth performance, but unfortunately some of the characters are invisible. Game requires Stream Output which is not supported in DXVK yet. OpenGL works fine, but the frame rate is much, much lower.
Small performance degradation and graphical hitches compared to running on same machine on Windows. Surprising that officially it does not support Linux when its predecessor Grow Home did. Maybe it runs fine on Linux?
