Plays well overall. A few performance issues that are either minor, rare, or do not affect gameplay.
In-game 30 FPS cap. Windowed mode enabled in Graphics options.
Performance is significantly worse if Fullscreen is selected in the game's graphics options
Major stuttering during level transitions. This does not affect gameplay, but it's definitely not expected behavior and pretty much ruins the intended presentation when they occur.
There is also significant slowdown whenever Spyro breathes fire in certain stages (the first of which is "Sunny Flight" in Spyro 1), if the shadows graphic setting is set any higher than low. This is a longstanding problem that is probably not Deck-related, which unfortunately also means it will likely never be fixed. However, it seems that only a few stages are affected by this, so most players may never notice them during a full playthrough.
Finally, there are frequent minor frametime spikes while playing, especially in the early minutes of each level. These are barely noticeable if playing at 30 FPS, but they are consistent throughout each game.

The game crashes within two minutes unless I modify the launch options.
For some reason, the game crashes when Unreal Engine tries to contact the Epic Games servers if you don't do one of the following tweaks. The first option is to change the launch parameters to this:
OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 gamemoderun %command%
The other option is to edit /etc/hosts and add these two lines:
0.0.0.0 datarouter.ol.epicgames.com
0.0.0.0 datarouter-weighted.ol.epicgames.com
Once you do either of these things, the game runs great!

Game works OOTB
No tinkering needed. Was on GE due to a recent report, but wanted to try default Proton anyway. Game loaded in with no stutters. The only problem I might notice is long loading times (I'm on an SSD, so it should be very quick.), but nothing that prevents me from playing.

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 -nohmd -dx11
Only at times the audio went out on me but this not so often and it could be related to using a Audio Receiver
Not so frequent stutter
I've got this game to work. I've tested using Proton and I found I did have a tad bit of stutters. I then went to GE-Proton9-25 and found there were a lot less slow downs and was perfectly playable. I recommend however to enable vsync as I found without it the game had some issues. You may also have to change from low to ultra whatever is suitable for your machine. So it may or may not work for you. At least for me I have vsync enabled and its on Ultra and as said very little issues with stuttering and I wouldn't even say it bothers me. How I have this setup I feel is perfect and should run well for others. Not all machines may have the U3 Fatal Error issue but mine did so I had to resort to the launch code I'm using. If you have an issue when you load the game in a level and there's major stuttering, i recommend exiting the level and entering again. This may solve your issue, have fun!

Fully functional out of the box but need to change to Windowed mode to improve frame rates
The frame rate was much lower than expected using default settings
Changing the screen mode to Windowed rather than Fullscreen sigificantly improved the frame rate, with this setting changed the game can run at 55-60fps pretty consistently on a mixture of medium-high graphical settings whereas it was in the 30-40fps range at these settings in Fullscreen
Apparently setting a frame rate limit above 30 in game can cause some gameplay issues, so it is recommended to leave this off and use the steam deck's system level frame rate limiter if need be

Enjoy your time!

Game runs perfect under linux
Beware at higher refresh rates the game itself has bugs, to complete some missions you must lower the refresh rates for the duration of the mission!

Attempted -nohmd, -sm4, -dx12 commands, but nothing worked. Tried multiple versions of proton including GE, experimental and several old versions. Game crashes from steam loading page, so not even seeing the game intro.
Runs perfect out of the box.

45fps/90hz locked within game, not overlay for minimum latency.
It stutters on occassion, as expected with a UE4 game, usually when loading new zones.
You can play this at 60fps on Low settings, but I preferred High at 45fps for a better balance. Uses 10-15w (higher in specific areas) and gets like 3-5hrs of battery life.

The game does run hot so I did attempt to turn down the graphics at points.
Overall I had a good time playing this way. I do feel that the game isn't as optimized for Deck but it still looks and plays great.

Works! Ahhhhhhhhh childhood...

iT WorKS oN mY maCHiNE!
A default frame rate of 240 appears to alter the intended physics of the game; creating a constant, unavoidable, 'sliding around' affect for Spyro. The movement bug can be fixed by lowering the frame rate to anything less than 144.

OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 %command%
Pleasant to play once the launch options have been configured; if they're missing, the game won't start.

OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 gamemoderun %command%
Without launch option the game will crash after a few seconds.

Worked fine with setting run command to `OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 %command%` I didn't try it without that,.
OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 %command%
Doesn't run on integrated graphics, needs a graphics card.
The game kept crashing after a couple of minutes. Fixed with launch options I copied from other reports.

FPS has to lock to 60 or Spyro will slide by hilmself in stand. In the past you had to lock it to 30 FPS but now it is 60.
Ah and sound crackling is only every so often.

GE proton was needed. Proton experimental and 7.0.6 resulted in cutscenes not displaying and crashing when trying to load save game. I am also having what I believe to be unreal engine shader stutter using this compared to Windows where I did not.

Used the above Launch Option because of my 13 Gen processor. Added these lines to my /etc/hosts file:
0.0.0.0 datarouter.ol.epicgames.com 0.0.0.0
datarouter-weighted.ol.epicgames.com
Everything works great now. Love this classic. :)
vk_radv %command% -dx11 -nohmd
got Fatal Error message until i switched Proton version and from Wayland to X11

Works great out of the box and with tweaking graphics and 40 hz can get good battery life
Playing in 40 hz, low resolution with FSR and high graphics provides good battery life
In etc/hosts had to add in seperate lines without quotes: "0.0.0.0 datarouter.ol.epicgames.com & 0.0.0.0 datarouter-weighted.ol.epicgames.com" due to the game closing out after a minute or 2 due to it trying to contact Epic servers with no resolution.

Switch from Wayland to X11
The game runs flawlessly but I could not launch it within a Wayland desktop session. I had to switch to X11, if not, the game won't launch.

It won't launch
No errors, when I hit the Play button nothing happens. I've tried lots of launch options within this thread without luck. I've also tried different proton versions.
-Game would install but when trying to launch it would get stuck on launching It was also unable to install due to connection time out

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is the perfect modern Spyro, for old fans and newcomers alike. If you love collectathons, this is for you!
Runs smooth as butter at 12 watts with a 40/45 refresh rate, even if foilage and shadows are on high. I recommend turning off motion blur as well. I usually get about 3 hours of battery life with this setup. :)
When entering a new level, the game will stutter as it builds the shader cache. This will not happen again opon re-entering or restarting said level(s).
P.S: There's no need to have a frame cap of 30! I was able to 100% these games just fine without it, so maybe the jump height and druid bugs were fixed?
Use 30 fps. It makes Spyro jump noticeably higher/further and doesn't softlock you in levels tied to framerate (e.g. wizards don't open doors at 60 fps). At that framerate you can set graphics to high or ultra on the Deck.
The Flight levels use inverted vertical controls and there's no built-in way to un-invert them. Had to create a new action set used just for the Flight levels, where Left Stick has vertical invert on.
30 fps helps with battery and prevents softlocks in wizard levels.
If you plan to play offline occasionally, disable cloud saves for this game. My offline save was overwritten by a previous online backup and I lost a few hours of progress.
The game crashed twice in one of the starting levels, when approaching a checkpoint. Didn't happen in further levels.
Need to lock the FPS to 60. If not, Spyro start to "slide" alone
I ran the Spyro Fix to get English Cutscenes to work: https://github.com/dmnct/spyro-fix
The only issue with Spyro on Proton is the cutscenes are not in English my default. With the GitHub Spyro Fix patch run, that issue is solved for me. Even then the game runs fine without this patch and the in game voice acting is in the correct language, it's just the cutscenes.
Overall game runs perfectly in Proton

I have tried different Proton versions, experimental and older but it just won't start with Ubuntu 23.04 and 7900XT graphic card.
I also validated the files to check if during the download something went wrong, but nothing has been found there.

Works great, occasional crashes resolved after modifying hosts file
Call to Epic games servers crashed the game, solved modifying hosts file
On my gaming rig (Pop!_OS) I had to add these two entries to the hosts file /etc/hosts in order to resolve random crashed after few minutes (seems to reach epicgames servers after a while):
0.0.0.0 datarouter.ol.epicgames.com
0.0.0.0 datarouter-weighted.ol.epicgames.com
Note that any framerate above 120 fps will result in minor bugs, I suggest to set a 120 fps cap.

Works perfectly out of the box on my Steam Deck, no issues at all
Works great out of the box, but with tinkering you can get around 4h playtime at ultra preset settings
Bios Setting GPU shared memory to 4GB, using CryoUtilities to set swapsize to 16 and swappines to 1, useing System Toolbox plugin of decky to activate linux huge pages
Works great out of the box.
But with tinkering you can get 4h playtime out of ultra preset settings with a solid 50fps lock. Steps:
- in SteamDeck Bios set GPU memory share to 4GB
- all of CryoUtilitys recomended settings (needs CryoUtilities)
- System Toolbox plugin of Decky to set linux huge pages to on (needs Decky)
- Set Ingame Resolution to 960x600/ vsync off/ ultra preset
- Steamdeck FSR to on and sharpness 5
- Steamdeck Framerate Limit to 50fps and Refreshrate 50hz
As the imagery in this game seems to scale really well, it's possible to set a low ingame resolution without getting any visible image degredation (at least i couldn't tell a difference).
Runs great on the Deck. Plays at 60fps with a medium/low mix of settings. Great way to play the game. Any frame drops/stutter is very minor.
Set FPS to 30FPS
Played all three games through 100% on the Steam Deck. No issues whatsoever apart from minor stutters entering a level in Spyro 1. Can play maxed settings locked at 30FPS.

Just Works, smooth as you like with Ultra graphics settings
