Game was capped at 50 FPS without tinkering
Somehow runs at a 100 FPS without glitches or game speed problems, which makes it even better than Windows, as a mod should be needed to play at higher frame rates than 60 FPS.

It just works.
This game runs better for me on Proton Hotfix than it ever has on Windows or Xbox, especially since the NG update catastrophe. Incredibly, not a single crash with Proton.

Same experience as playing on W11 on the same hardware. There was only a problem with the game minimizing a few times on Proton HotFix

DRI_PRIME=1
Stuttering master audio, voices sometimes cut out, odd distortions here and there.
Crashed once in the beginning, now seems stable.
Works pretty well from basic install. Added DRI_PRIME=1 to function with my GPU. Crashed initially but works fine after a few hours of playing. Sound distortions occur - stuttering and occasional sound cutting out for a second or two, which can be very annoying. Voices sometimes stutter or glitch out. Everything else runs very nicely.

Changed the games .ini files to remove mouse smoothing and used protontricks to fix an issue with the mouse leaving the game's boundaries when using a multi-monitor setup.
To fix the mouse leaving the game's boundaries in a multi-monitor setup, either use protontricks or type "WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/377160/pfx winecfg" into your terminal, then select "Graphics" and check the box that says "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows."
When changing graphics settings, setting "Godrays Quality" to anything other than "Ultra" or "Off" results in extreme artifacting.

If you want the get the Fallout 4 Script Extender to work using Linux, then you must use the Grand Eggroll Proton Layer, it has a default code in it that will check for and launch the game using the Fallout 4 Script Extender's .exe if it detects it.
Useful for getting mods to work.

Sometimes the mouse cursor would go outside of the game view to my second monitor (dual monitor setup). Easy fix was to just slide the cursor back over.
My GPU is an RX7900XTX, Steam is not listing my GPU correctly.

Changing the "Godrays Quality" setting in the launcher from "Ultra" results in EXTREME artifacting. Otherwise, the game runs perfectly fine.
Works without issues on highest settings (no weapon debris, 8x anisotropic filtering) in 1440p

1080p, medium settings preset, disable the ambient occlusion and lower the details on distance. You will just have a full screen 60fps expreience with the M7 Pro 32GB or 48GB RAM console-like.

with some thinkering (and apparently magick) i got it to work again. Sadly i don't excatly know how i fixed it. My Guidline for fixing it: https://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/4032476411648349945/
the game works fine without doing anything. using vortex for modding is a difficult tast to set up, but it can be done with some thinkering without having any Problems
Game runs very well out of the box. I did not have any issues at all whether it be vanilla or with installing several mods.

I use Proton Experimental by default for my entire library. Game launched and ran without issues right out of the box.

It took me some time and 15 different guides to fix initial 10-15 FPS but I can finally play this game. It is possible make it work. Played with no HD textures pack - apparently terrible for performance and it is bigger than the size of original game+DLC.

Running Fallout 4 and Fallout 3 is possible without ProtonGE and Steam Tinker Launch. You have to workaround root directories.

Probably yes, it has to do some configuration depending on the system and graphic cards version.

I needed to switch the configuration to borderless window and disable vsinc in order to skip the black screen at the start
The game could not start in full screen configuration. I had to switch from Fullscreen to borderless window and then switch to full screen in order to fix it.
The game after some tinkering works normally and without issues. Had to cap the game at 60 fps to avoid any increase of the game speed problems.

The game locks at 50 fps.
The mouse goes to the other screen with dual monitors, doesnt fully lock in screen.

No issues with this game.
No issues loggining in, using the creation club and mods!

I don't understand how everyone is saying it works by default when I can't even start a new game on a vanilla install.

As it is not possible (at least it wasn't for me) to change the Resolution to 1440p in the Launcher I did this manually. If you want to do this to I'd recommend changing the values of 2 seperate .ini files to be on the safe side.
- Open
ThePathOfYourSteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Fallout 4/Fallout4Prefs.ini
and change the value of Height and Width to suit your liking - Open
ThePathOfYourSteamLibrary/377160/compatdata/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Fallout 4/Fallout4Prefs.ini
and also change the Width and Height to your liking
I also encountered problem activating fullscreen, so be aware that this can be a problem.
If activated manually via the .ini files the came did not start anymore
The Launcher was not responding to any input from me so I was forced to manually change the resolution in the .ini files, altough it did automatically set the graphics settings to "Ultra" on start (I still needed to force close it through Steam).
To be able to even start it I needed to rename the Games main Executeable and the Launcher (Fallout4.exe -> Fallout4Launcher.exe; Fallout4Launcher.exe -> Fallout4.exe; both are in PathOfYourSteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Fallout 4/
) as it is not possible to easily skip the Launcher in another way.
The problems I encountered may be caused by Wayland and/or Hyprland as other users did not encounter them, as far as I'm aware of.

Need to limit framerate with environment runtime variables

It ran out of the box just fine. Had to force proton version cause newer ones have some issue capturing mouse, but other than that no issue.

When playing in Borderless or Fullscreen, the mouse kind of moves off the game.
Ran out of the box. Switch the Proton version to Proton Experimental and run it from Steam. No issues.
In the Wayland Sway composer with two monitors the game moves the cursor to the second during gameplay, using GameScope with an argument this is resolved, but as the launcher closes before opening the game, GameScope closes, placing xterm as an intermediary prevents this from happening: gamescope -f -e --force-grab-cursor -- xterm -e %COMMAND%

Works out of the box with proton steam, but if you want your 600+ 4k sexmods you need to use bottles with vortex so mods can be easily added

Runs perfectly
Downgraded version works great even with mods. Mod organizer 2 installed with rockerbacon's script: https://github.com/rockerbacon/modorganizer2-linux-installer

The game locks itself to 50 fps without the launch command. Going over 60 breaks the game physics.

What worked for me was:
Installing GE-Proton9-11 via ProtonUP-Qt app and forcing the gane to run on it. Adding gamemoderun %command% to launch options. And also the game has to be run in windowed mode instead of fullscreen.
In this configuration nothing else was needed. FPS were capped ad 60fps, there was no problem with configuration files that required downgrading the Fallout 4 version.

Stable FPS, no freezes

Works great after disabling keyboard repeat
Game works great out of the box, but keyboard controls were extremely sluggish. Character always kept moving after releasing WASD keys. I fixed this by disabling linux keyboard repeat: gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.keyboard repeat false
