Runs good OOTB, played with a Valve Index.
minor flickering/artifacts in the loading screens.
Worked out of the box, using the legacy bindings, using the triggers to click on things in the menu. But turning around using the thumbsticks didn't work.
Takes 2-5 retries to start the game. Runs perfectly with d9vk; no more graphical glitches/crashes even the cutscenes-audio works.
d9vk fixes the grass textures etc.
cutscene audio is missing
Runs perfectly, played through the full game.
Some minor lighting issues
Runs perfectly after using Proton Experimental or setting the PROTON_DISABLE_NVAPI=1 launch option.
Runs good
The Ubisoft launcher is a minor annoyance.
- You have to re-enter your password every time.
- It needs to be killed manually after the exiting the games
The game runs fine after disabling the Ubisoft overlay. Performance seems to be stable on "Very High". I noticed that occasionally the dialog is bugged. Using virtual desktop to fix black borders breaks controller integration(xbox one). Maxing out the "Screen Display Area" makes them unobtrusive -> only some small borders(up,down) remain.
Runs perfectly except some minor issues.
Cloud saves don't work.
Soft shadows cause the game to crash, to revert it Assassin4.ini needs to be edited/deleted.

runs perfectly after using "STEAM_COMPAT_CONFIG=nod3d11 %command%"
Runs good OOTB with minor issues.
Origin notifications minimize the game, but this can be fixed by using borderless fullscreen

Runs good after forcing it to use Proton.
Occasionally the game becomes unable to save, this seems to also happen on Windows.
The native Linux seems to soft lock more often, and achievements do not work.
Runs good OOTB
Some stuttering using Proton 6.3. When replayed using Proton 7.0 stuttering disappeared.
a few of crashes in later levels
Some Achievements(Rapture Historian, All Weapon Upgrades and Research Master) seem to be still buggy and did not unlock for me. Unlocking them via https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=858382984 seems works.
Runs good OOTB with some issues.
using dx12 there are artifacts like glowing water and dust but using using dx11 the game runs fine.
some cutscenes are missing.
Some in-game videos do not play.
Using Proton 6.3 the game freezes at the first cutscene.

It is necessary to disable DX10/DX11 to bypass the black screen.
Runs good OOTB with some issues
black flickering and artifacts in some missions where shadows should be etc.
Tends to stutter a bit during the campaign&multiplayer gets better with time.
opening the steam overlay crashes the game in most cases
Runs good
Turning on CACHE SUN SHADOW MAPS, CACHE SPOT SHADOW MAPS fixed the crash in Mile High Club.
Runs perfectly expect video cutscenes.
video cinematics don't play which does take away some of the story.
runs perfectly, but:
- controller(Xbox One) is not recognized => fixed over steam keyboard/controller support
- exiting the game over the menu causes a Error (Access Violation (0xc0000005))
Main Menu works after hitting enter to skip logos. Starting the story still results in a infinite loading screen.
Runs good OOTB.
Some occasional stutters even with Raytracing disabled.
Runs good with raytracing quality set to performance.
Entering the username requires manually invoking the on-screen keyboard.
runs perfectly, but the framerate sometimes jumps around even though CPU/GPU is not particularly used.
Played through the main-game it runs perfectly with no issues.
- Tested with both keyboard+mouse and Xbox One controller.
TDP to 6 W
small green bar at the bottom of cutscenes
Runs good even with raytracing.
In some chapters, raytracing has a greater impact on performance. This can be solved by lowering the resolution to 1080p or disabling ray tracing.
Runs perfectly after the first hour.
Some stutters when entering new areas in the first hour of the game.
Runs perfectly OOTB, except Prologue/Ending cutscene
Prologue/Ending cutscene only show test pattern video.
Runs perfectly
Game crashed 2 times.
The game seems to perform slighly better in dx12 mode.
Runs perfectly OOTB with minor issues.
DualSense(PS5) controller works, but is detected as a xbox controller.
After a mesa update the game crashed, but deleting the shader cache fixed it.
runs out of the box. some frame skips when until shaders are compiled. disablement of dx11 improves performance.
Runs perfectly OOTB.
only tried/found one race, because it is missing players.
Runs good, played with a Valve Index.
The game seems to have some issue with Valve Index controllers and reloading doesn't work reliably, playing on easy removes this mechanic.
some physics do not work reliably until lowering the frame rate to 80hz in the SteamVR settings. see also https://steamcommunity.com/app/503580/discussions/0/1634111706737948637/#c2626094856505055013
runs perfectly after renaming "EdnaWrapper.exe" to "Edna.exe" and using launch options: "STEAM_COMPAT_CONFIG=oldglstr,forcelgadd %command%"
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Using PROTON_USE_WINED3D seems to be more stable, only occasionally dropping to around 60 FPS. Without this launch option it regularly drops to around 25 FPS.
Runs perfectly
If the gamepad is reconnected, the game must be restarted.
Runs perfectly after workarounds
e.g. black blocks when angeling the map the right way. Can be fixed by disabling anti aliasing in the game options.
Same bug and workaround as described by RADA77435
Runs OOTB but with absymal performance.
Game runs with 15-30 FPS.
taskset -c 0-5:2 %command%
To disable most of the Origin overlay ,rename igo64.dll to disable_igo64.dll in the game prefix SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1225580/pfx/drive_c/Program\ Files\ (x86)/Origin/
After limiting the game to 3 cores it run good around 50 FPS. wIthout limit it is unplayable around 25 FPS.
Runs perfectly OOTB, with one minor issue.
Controller button prompts were not labeled, with an 8bitdo pro 2. No problems otherwise.
Added lines to config as mentioned by KaesDingeling
Some minor insignificant artifacts e.g. in the character menu.
50-70 fps no matter the settings, also the graphics settings are partly reseted at restart.
I had to use "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" as else it would just crash after the launcher.
Minor artifact/border around the minimap and some occasional texture loading.
Slight stuttering about same as on windows.
Reducing the draw/view distance to around 50 fixes it mostly.
All other graphics options can be on very high.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
If you have a high refresh rate monitor and if you don't lock the FPS to 60 you're unable to complete some missions and driving becomes harder.
works perfectly after using "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%"
Runs perfectly using Valve Index
I did a 100% playthrough.
Loading & Artifact Issues seem to be fixed using the latest Proton/SteamVr(beta)
All text is readable except for the "Last saved" in the pause menu.
'WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%' helps a lot
Some stuttering at beginning of scene and camera changes. When replayed stuttering disappears.
a few crashes when loading new chapters.
Controller(PS5) worked OOTB and without problems.
The Achievements seems to buggy, had to replay some chapters for them to unlock for example "Interactive Drama", seems to be a game bug and not related to proton .
Runs perfectly, except the random crashes.
Sometimes it works for hours, sometimes it crashes after a few minutes. The game causes a reset of the AMD GPU (mostly with a GCVM_L2_PROTECTION_FAULT_STATUS in dmesg).
To get past the tutorial i had to switch to "oldindexbuild" beta.
With Proton 9.0-3 or Experimental, it just hangs until exited. After switching back to Proton 8.0-5 it runs perfectly again.
completely played trough: runs perfectly, but some of the animated cutscenes do not play correctly.
Runs perfectly OOTB, except occasional crashes.
The game occasionally crashes while loading a mission/fast-travel etc.
Runs perfectly.
Game starts in window mode the first time.
Can be changed after the tutorial in the settings.
process hangs after launcher had to skip the launcher by:
- renaming the LightmatterSub.exe to Lightmatter.exe
- creating a link from LightmatterSub_Data to Lightmatter_Data (
ln -s LightmatterSub_Data Lightmatter_Data
)
Note: also tried various other teaks like virtual desktop but none of them worked.
Played through the whole game with no issues expect the launcher.
Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
I used the launcher workaround posted by frostwork.
1080p, high settings results in 51.8 fps in the benchmark.
I had to use Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF as it does not start with Proton 5.0-7. I did not test the dotnet452.
Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
The APEX implementation seems to be completely broken.
Disabling it it by deleting or renaming the APEX folder fixes the Framerate in parts where it is enabled, like the benchmark.
The Launcher needs to be skipped as mentioned by frostwork.
Proton-6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Fullscreen freezes the game. Runs perfectly using borderless window & GloriousEggroll Proton.
Sometimes mouse-clicks are not registered correctly e.g. on the galaxy-map, but exiting and reentering fixes it.
First startup used a low resolution until I changed it in the settings and restarted the game.
Origin achievements are unlocked right away but the Steam achievements are only unlocked the next time the game is started.
Proton-6.10-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.10-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Origin notifications minimize the game, but this can be fixed by using borderless fullscreen.
Launcher does not have controller support. Controller detection mostly works out-of the box and sometimes it does not not work at all until a restart.
Games crashed a few times. Sometimes Origin/EALink process does not exit automatically.
Runs good OOTB with minor issues.
The game likes to start in windowed mode also Alt+Tab works, but puts the game back in windowed mode. It can be switch to fullscreen by pressing Alt+Enter.
It takes a while for the game to detect the controller, randomly pressing buttons seems to help. Also sometimes controller detection works out-of the box and other times it does not not work at all until a restart.
running with "-nod3d11 -noesync -wined3d" displays black screen with "subtitles placeholder"
starts without tweaks but still displays black screen with "subtitles placeholder"

using Proton Experimental fixes the EA launcher for the most part.
runs perfectly. I didn't even notice the no-benchmark-video issue until after i read the other reports.
Game sometimes starts with a weird resolution, but fixes itself once you get to the main menu.
Runs perfectly OOTB.
As others noted, you need a bethesda.net account.
With the native build, the frame rate is very unstable.
Finally runs with reasonable FPS(almost no stuttering) with ACO & Fsync enabled and using a controller. Live Action Videos still cause the game to crash.
runs perfectly after using: "STEAM_COMPAT_CONFIG=wined3d %command%"
runs perfectly expect minor issue.
I had to manually enable "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool, as else it would not download/install the whole game.
Afterwards it worked with no issue.
Runs perfectly OOTB.
Runs perfectly, seems like a recent update fixed the crashes, before it was crashing with a 'FFFFFFFF' error every few hours.
Runs perfectly, except FSR.
FSR is causing a lot of shimmering. without it enabled it runs perfectly.
Runs good OOTB
Steam/Origin-Achievements take the focus off the game for a second.

without forcing d3d11 the game would crash with a "out of video memory" after a some hours of gameplay, while only using ~50%
Runs perfectly, except some missing textures.
Some of the evidence papers are missing textures on Analysis table
runs perfectly after using launch options: "STEAM_COMPAT_CONFIG=nod3d11 %command%"
Runs perfectly OOTB.
Occasionally the High-resolution-textures fail to load, looking at the steamcommunity discussions this seems to be a game bug and not wine.
Runs perfectly
since a recent gnome update there is a ""Remote desktop" popup, which has to be accepted, else "Steam Input Translation" does not work.
Runs perfectly after forcing it to use Porton
With the native version the right stick input would sometimes not register. Using Proton the gamepad worked as expected.
Proton-7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
using DX12 there were some random crashes, using DX11 the game seems to be more stable.
After starting the game shows a "pure virtual function being called while application was running" which can be moved aside(closing the window causes the game to exit)
using default Proton cutscenes don't play, which can be fixed using Proton GE.
runs perfectly including video after using https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install ; as reported by https://www.protondb.com/app/456750#Fs5nDv5hQ

%command% skiplogos
Crashed a few times and some occasional micro-stuttering.
used the launch option to skip the logos.
Proton-5.11-GE-1-MF GloriousEggroll
Proton-5.11-GE-1-MF GloriousEggroll
Sometimes the Window is not selected on startup and it takes 2-3 Alt-Tab to get back into the game.
Using the default Proton-5.0-9 it hangs on the startup logo/cutscene.
Using Proton-5.11-GE-1-MF everything works as expected.
runs perfectly after using "STEAM_COMPAT_CONFIG=nod3d11 %command%"
The launcher works.
VLR works perfectly , completely payed trough .
999 starts but displays a blackscreen after pressing start.
