Steam Input is broken since 2020. The select button needs to be bound to the keyboard equivavelent (tab) when using a controller or the steam deck.

If you are playing with M&K as your input you should have no issues. On Deck with input tweaks it is more than playable
Used Proton 7.0-4 had to bind keyboard controls to controller as the map button was not working on default. Settings: 1152x720 @ 30fps with FSR, High graphics, No Half Rate Shading. Draws around 8.5 - 13 watts durring gameplay.

Works perfectly out of the box - just choose Proton
Didn't run it on native, switched to Proton (at that time 7.0.2). Worked perfectly out of the box!
The game seems a little unfinished/unpolished. So maybe my issues are not really Proton-related.
Sporadically the main menu will not display properly directly after starting the game. But everything works fine again after loading the save game.
Steam achievements are not working for me. I have played the game through in multiple sessions and not one achievement has been triggered.
OOTB no issues.
Does take a few minutes to start.
