Brief stutter-glitches the first time you look at a new thing/area.
Starting up by default was "missing executable". Switching to Proton, starting up was a few seconds of nothing then exit. Switching to Proton 7 was a few seconds of black screen then exit. Proton 7 and the startup modification together got it working.

Completed main game and DLC. No issues

Note for Nvidia users with drivers from 535.98: there is a known bug where you can't create prefixes with Proton 8.x. Use Proton 7.x instead, if you have this bug (like I did).

Only caveat is if you have a newer intel cpu the game will not boot at all. This isn't a proton issue just a game issue. If you have a newer intel cpu make sure to set the launch options I did to allow the game to actually boot.

I dont know if its the game or what but i played with ps5 controller and valve index knuckles and i got the same results... the analog on both ps5 and index was stop accepting any input mid-action and i am not sure if its just how the game is meant to be played or if its a proton bug but it felt weird... i dont have windows to test it there so i am just confused. its totally playable that way but its just annoying me that's all
Works perfectly both in vr and non-vr mode.
Without forcing it to use Porton it compains about a missing executable Trover.sh.
Beginning intro videos do not play with any version of Proton. This isn't a loss as they are just logo videos. This never occurs again in the game.
Worked better on the deck compared to some of the verified title while it says it's unsupported
VR mode works just fine on my Index, along with all inputs, only issue is media foundation.
Full play-through with a DS3 controller in non-VR mode
Media Foundation from Proton-GE is not necessary, you only miss out on the Squanch Games and Unreal Engine 4 intro videos. You might say it's a feature.
Works out of the box with Proton 6.3-4, Valve Index.
Used the following fix from hooplahoopla and it worked great.
WINEPREFIX="/home/skainswo/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1051200/pfx" PROTON="/home/skainswo/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton 5.0/" ./mf-install.sh -proton
Disable rumble for Xbox One controller or it'll drop out and the controller will need to be reset. If you have issues using Bluetooth try the fix found here: Post #10
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1716110#p1716110
Missing opening video title but everything else worked great with the fixes above.

I had to install https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install and then run
WINEPREFIX="/home/skainswo/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1051200/pfx" PROTON="/home/skainswo/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton 5.0/" ./mf-install.sh -proton
but after that it's been working great!
I posted a link to the installer and steamcommunity video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX7oMPpAgDs

Had to install https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install This didn't work on a previous version but it works now. It's a little slow when you first look through the door of the ship, but it runs well after that.

tested_media-foundation-workaround_with_lutris< winesteam sudo apt-get install git cd $HOME git clone https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install cd mf-install WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.local/share/lutris/runners/winesteam/prefix64/ ./install-mf.sh game runs! I posted a steam communityvideo at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX7oMPpAgDs

Black screen, seems to be loading issues. From running steam from a term:-

Just black blank screen, no sound, no nothing

Tried using the media foundation workaround, still doesn't function.

Black screen. Tried installing Media Foundation (https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install). No change.

Requires media foundation workaround. https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install

Black screen

Launches to a black screen. Tried disabling d3d11, esync, and using wine d3d11. Terminal output shows: "LogMediaUtils: Error: Cannot play file://SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Trover Saves the Universe/Trover/Content/Movies/Startup.mp4, because none of the enabled media player plug-ins support it". Renaming the file makes no difference.

Games just starts to a black screen and thats it.

Default is borker, with a black screen on startup
