Perfect with Proton
Was able to 100% the game without crashes and all the videos played without issues.
Runs perfectly

Works fine.
Game has issues with mouse grabbing and dragging items. It can take a few tries to pull a lever for example. This is a game issue, not a Linux issue.
Mouse issues are a pain at times but can be worked around by flicking or repeated grabbing. As stated, this is a game issue, not specific to Linux or Proton.
after sleeping
some interaction is jittery
Plays perfectly out of the box
Played the whole game through, everything runs fine, cutscenes and all.
Had some drops rotating some objects, I remember a specific gear that had me at 1 for the whole moving process;
Work perfectly with protonGE (except for the fps drop), which I tend to use by default to avoid most common tiny issues;
When waking the Steam Deck from sleep, the audio was crackling.
Interactable elements would shake when interacted with.
Overall
I played through the entire game, and did all 4 endings. It played pretty good, except for the few issues I had.
Controls
For controls, the touch screen controls were a little finicky, specifically with click AND drag. Additionally, interactables in puzzles would shake when clicking and holding using the touch screen. I recommend trigger + touchpad for inventory items, and touch screen with interactables in puzzles. For inventory items, click then wait a half-second, then use the touch pad to drag it.
Audio
For audio, the speakers were crackling when waking up my Steam Deck from sleep. This didn't affect the speed or playback any of the music or sound effects, it was just crackling.
Works flawlessly
Played whole game with all alternative endings. No problems.
Initially, ending videos did not show up. Switching to Proton-GE solved the issue.
For ending videos
Even with mf-install, there is a "hang" of several seconds during the ending videos
Game freezes with white screen during ending cutscene. After using "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" - Proton 6.3-5, the game didn't freeze, but the ending cutscene didn't show either. I could get every ending and received all achievements, but had to watch the cutscenes elsewhere.
Works perfectly on Proton 6.3-5
Used GloriousEggroll Custom Build version Proton-5.9-GE-6-ST
Game freezes with white screen during ending cutscene. Works using custom Proton build.
Necesario para los finales del juego, resuelto instalando https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install con las instrucciones de https://www.protondb.com/app/456750#a75Bw6DZVO
Sigue siendo jugable pero aveces resulta molesto
The mf
verb in protontricks does not work. mf-install
fails on Proton 5.13.
The video playback in the endings stutters for seconds at a time.
Will Require Media Foundation dll To Unlock The Complete Version Of The Game. Runs Fantastic Otherwise.
Having the Media Foundation is PARAMOUNT to get the full complete version of the game, as the Change Your Fate mode will not trigger unless you pass the final cutscene.
How To:
- Go here github:z0z0z/mf-install
- Download the zip files by selecting the green button marked Code at the right side of your screen.
- Extract the files and open the folder in terminal
$ cd Downloads/mf-install-master
- Use this command:
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/steamapps/compatdata/456750/pfx ./mf-install.sh
- Restart Steam and play the game. You will still be missing a whole chunk of the cutscene unfortunately but you should get the Change Your Fate mode now.
There is tiny bit of micro-stuttering from my Navi GPU compared to my RTX GPU. Nvidia cards had a smoother experience but it's very very tiny that most won't even notice it.
I also tried to install Media Foundation through Protontricks but it didn't work. I had to do it manually.

Crashes when starting a new game
On first try the game froze when picking up the journal in the tutorial (seemed to run smoothly at the time), now it crashes on loading screen to the tutorial
mf-install is only required to play end game videos.
El juego se instala y se ejecuta perfectamente.
runs perfectly including video after using https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install ; as reported by https://www.protondb.com/app/456750#Fs5nDv5hQ

Most of the game works fine out of the box, and the entire game works after a small workaround.
To fix the issue with the game showing a white screen instead of the ending cutscenes, I used this workaround for the Media Foundation files:
https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
Everything worked after that.

Crashes on launch.
Nvidia 435.21 Driver with Bumblebeed
One hard lock forced a full restart

By default, the game set the average graphics settings. I set it to the maximum. At first, everything was not bad, the game showed 30-50 fps. The spread of FPS depended on the size and fullness of locations. For comparison, Windows also has a spread, but there the game set the default high settings, and at the maximum it shows 40-60fps. But after receiving 2 pyramids, performance dropped dramatically. The game began to show an average of 10-15fps, the more locations opened, the lower it became, which dropped to 8.
From the good news, it turned out that performance spoils only 1 parameter, this is anti-aliasing. If you turn it off, the game will show as in Windows almost stable 60fps. The remaining settings can be left to the maximum. From the bad news. As previously written, the game cannot be completed due to non-working videos

The game works great until the end. The video at the ending does not work so you basically cannot finish the game.

The game works perfectly without any tweaks until the ending cutscenes. The ending cutscenes require some DLLs from Windows 7 (10 does not work) and a few registry edits. The changes required can be seen here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1102#issuecomment-419678627

Game worked just fine.

Works well until game ending video tries to play then a white screen is displayed. Sometimes rotating puzzles seemed to behave chaotically with small mouse movements.

The game works perfectly until the ending video, which freezes the game and makes you unable to finish the end (and reach any of the four endings)

Hangs at the ending cinematic, as mentioned by others. The game has a sort of New Game+ mode with alternate endings which won't be unlocked because of this. You also won't get Steam Achievements for completing the game.

Game fails to launch, 'Failed to initialize graphics'. Launch Option, PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%, works for The Room One & Two - but not for this game.

The game can't be finished because of the white screen freeze at the end. See the other reports or Proton Github for more information.

Works perfectly until the final video. Hangs on a white screen.

It works properly until the end. In the final video hangs on a white screen. The problem seems to be due to outdated Codec.

Everything seems to work after adding "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%" to launch options. One minor graphics glitch required me to turn down graphics details temporarily.

As said before the game run perfect until the ending cinematic. Because of that the game can't be finished and the achievements can't be unlocked. The problem also existed for win 7 users, and came from the fact that win 7 use its own version of video codecs (window's Media Player or wmp) compared to win 8 and 10.
The game is now compatible with wmp codecs, but the wmp version proposed by winetricks is outdated. Its safe to assume that the problem come from here.
