The game even in Windows has some problem with 21:9 monitor, launch in window mode and then make the window borderless fix the problem
Played 60% of the game in Windows then changed to Bazzite w/proton and the expirience is pretty the same.
The game is great, some problem is game related like resolution on 21:9 and initial screen freeze, i experienced these issues on both Windows and Linux

Cant get Game to work with 144Hz. Had to change back to 60Hz manually by changing Settings file located at "Documents/Assassin's Creed Syndicate/AC.ini".
Mouse moves out of the window in Fullscreen. Borderless fixes this.

Don't turn on MSAA. It causes a lot of glitches.

Runs perfectly after using Proton Experimental or setting the PROTON_DISABLE_NVAPI=1 launch option.
uplay://launch/1875
Got it to work by following these steps:
- Switch to Steam Desktop mode
- Open Linux Discover App and install ProtonUp-Qt and Lutris
- Open ProtonUp-Q and add version GE-Proton8-32
- Open Lutris and run Ubisoft Connect app, login and install the game
- In Lutris sidebar click the person icon and log into Ubisoft connect again to show games in Lutris
- Right-click game in Lutris Games window and select Configure -> Runner options -> Wine version -> Proton 8.0
- Now run the game and see it will work!

Crashes after the "the games saves..." message
tried also 8.0 and experimental, no luck

MSAA Broken, evident on Windows sometimes too
Specific to playing the game in Ultrawide resolutions, not a problem when running standard 16:9
Game freezes when initialising internet connection occasionally on boot
To get ultrawide to work correctly you must run in Windowed mode and locate the AC.ini file inside the compatdata folder, you can edit the resolution values to be your ultrawide resolution, set windowing mode to 0 for windowed mode.

I tried protonGE, experimental, hotfix and older versions without success. The game gets stuck on the epilepsy warning.
I think it used to work at some point. This is wierd.

Changed Proton to GE-Proton-8, otherwise it got stuck on a black screen after nvidia logo (and ubisoft connect sync).
a lot of notes mention ubisoft play but i did not change anything and it tried with ubisoft connect anyways. had played on pc before so it synced saves properly. default video was set to low so i increased it to medium and just to be on the safer side limited fps to 40. no issues so far.

Crashes on startup with a Radeon graphics card on linux
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Multiple versions of proton (including GE) tried, along with multiple launch option configurations. In every test the result was the same: the game executable starts but crashes immediately after showing the "NVIDIA" splash graphic, and before showing the main menu. Guess they took the "NVIDIA" part a bit too far :(
It wouldn't work with vanilla proton or any proton at version 9. Other than that ir runs fine in GE-Proton8.

borderless fullscreen was not borderless (wayland plus fractional scaling)
Game crashes on nvidia splash logo video on default steam settings. Forced Proton-GE8-25 works great

Tried to use Proton 9.0-1, 8.0-5, 7.0-6, 6.3-8, Experimental, and GE 9-2. None were able to boot into the game successfully. Proton 9.0-1 and GE 9-2 were able to get through the credits but then crashed after that.

If MSAA is enabled you'll get weird artifacting that looks like reflections, disable them and it'll return to normal. Appears to be a game issue not Wine
Outside of Ubisoft connect having issues in X11 (Wayland works for some reason), the only bug I found in Assassin's Creed Syndicate was the MSAA bug, which also exists in Windows. So it's just another Typical Ubisoft game (for whatever that's worth these days)

At night, the entire image was displayed in a bluish filter. However, reloading usually solved the problem.
The game has quite some bugs, which are all related to Ubisoft not Proton. With Experimental the game just works fine. Windows can't display UW correctly. Proton can. Very funny. So all in all, good experience on Zorin as it was not possible on Windows.

Used Ninter's instructions from the AC2 page (https://www.protondb.com/app/33230#nuYTcGb5bn) to replace the Uplay launcher with the current Ubisoft Connect launcher.
Cutscene subtitles trend slightly on the miniscule side.
Settings used:
- 1280x720/90hz (setting to 800p stretches the image)
- Vsync - Off
- Environmental Quality - High
- Textures Quality - High
- Shadows Quality - High
- Ambient Occlusion - HBAO+
- Anti-Aliasing - MSAA2x + FXAA
Framerate is variable depending on location; at ground level, FPS fluctuates around the mid 30s, higher up is closer to the 40s. Cutscene framerate does dip somewhat into the high 20s, but mostly during character close-ups and effects-heavy shots. A 30hz lock is probably a good idea (I couldn't get a consistent 40 FPS without severely compromising the game's visuals).

With MSAA enabled, the game has artifacting. Happens on Windows 10 too and is a known bug on Intel Arc that needs fixing in drivers.
As long as you don't plan on using MSAA, you'll be fine.

Had to download Ubisoft Connect from ubisoftconnect .com, place it in "/Support/Software/GameLauncher" and rename it to UplayInstaller.exe to replace the bundled one
Needs extra work to make it work

Install game via Steam (don't launch it); Download Ubisoft Connect Installer; Replace UplayInstaller.exe with the Ubisoft Connect one in the /SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Assassin's Creed Syndicate/Support/Software directory; Launch game and let Steam finish the installation.
Video lags and falls behind audio in cutsceens
Using Steam Remote Play with a sufficent system results in a perfect handheld playing experence.

Download game (do not launch it), download Ubisoft Connect from them, rename the downloaded file "UplayInstaller.exe" and replace the one that downloaded through steam in the (game library file path)/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Assassin's Creed Syndicate/Support/Software, run the game & wait for Steam to install Ubisoft Connect & all related files. Game will launch without issue after accepting configuration prompts.

Works fine once UplayInstaller.exe is replaced with UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe (downloaded from Ubisoft's website)
Uplay launcher no longer works, the file must be replaced with Ubisoft Connect.
Go to /steamapps/common/Assassin's Creed Syndicate/Support/Software/GameLauncher/
Delete UplayInstaller.exe
Download UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe, rename it to UplayInstaller.exe and paste it into /steamapps/common/Assassin's Creed Syndicate/Support/Software/GameLauncher/
The game should now launch with Ubisoft Connect instead of Uplay.

install uplay from protontricks
Use protontricks to install uplay, then when you open the game uplay is going to be uptaded to ubisoft connect. Then close the game and open again. Restart the computer if not work at first time.

VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 gamemoderun
These steps let you install UbisoftConnect into the Compat-data folder for the game which supersedes the broken uplay installation that comes with the game:
- Install Assassin's Creed Syndicate, choose ProtonExperimental, do not launch it.
- Download the UbisoftConnect Installer and add it as a non-Steam game to Steam.
- In the settings for the installer set Compatibility to ProtonExperimental and add this launch option: STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/home/[yourhome]/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/368500" %command%
- Start the installer and keep the checkmark in the box so the app is launched directly afterwards. Wait for it to update then enter your credentials and all. At this point it will not yet have detected the game. Close the launcher.
- Start the game, if everything went right, it will launch UbisoftConnect instead of uplay and start the game.

Tries to connect to uplay when ubisoft connect has superseeded it. When trying to log on in offline mode launcher crashes

Won't launch
ubisoft player is broken

I did not try offline mode cause i wanted to continue a save from my pc. i tried experimental, GE-Protons versions. and could not get it to update. not sure if offline mode works i never tried it. it is a pass on steam deck for me. hopefully we can find a fix somehow.

UPlay can't find internet, game never even start
Tried with Proton 5, 6, 7, 8 & Experimental. Same result every time: « Connection lost ». But since UPlay requires at least one successful login, the game never launches.
Added line FlexibleMotionSimulationFPS=1
to AC.ini
file to remove 30 fps cloth physics cap. To find the directory go to root, then in terminal execute find ./ -name "AC.ini"
. In my case I found it in ./home/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/368500/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Assassin's Creed Syndicate/AC.ini
Make sure to use proton experimental

Used the following settings and the experience, through my short playtime yet, have been smooth: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/uuxir1/comment/i9hzq20/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Uplay wouldn't update to Ubisoft Connect and would only suggest offline mode
Text is a bit small, including subtitles. Ensuring a 16:10 display ratio in the settings improves readability.
When first playing, all textures were missing and the screen flashed. Changing the settings to the ones suggested and restarting the game fixed it.
The main issue is the Ubisoft launcher not updating. This problem may also occur with Assassin's Creed Unity. In order to rectify this issue and being able to play the game, I followed the instructions present here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/11kucn7/comment/jbn8vil/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
To reiterate, if you can manage to install the latest version of Ubisoft Connect, simply overwrite AC: Syndicate's Ubisoft Launcher. The gameid for Syndicate is 368500 .
In my case, as Unity's launcher updated correctly, I used that folder to overwrite Syndicate's and it worked like a charm, picked up DLCs and linked to the appropriate Ubisoft account.
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 gamemoderun mangohud %command%

Display does not switch to desired screen in multi monitor setup. Screen name/number not recognized correctly. Works going to fullscreen->windows->fullscreen
Game stuck at ~ 30fps on a RX6900XT
Although the game has issues with crashing, at least on my hardware, once you get past the prologue the game runs without crashing.
First time I tried fullscreen the game crashed, but works fine now.
Low FPS considering hardware, I don't have a top of the line card but should be able to play a 2015 game above lowest settings
When starting the game, it crashes every now and again and the prologue crashed a lot, but once in game it's stable.
Popping at distance, clothing at lower frame rate. Also, as someone else noted, only use FXAA for anti-aliasing, otherwise large bars appear on your screen
Fullscreen with ultawide monitor resulted in everything being stretched, even when the correct aspect ratio and resolution was selected. If you play in windowed mode, it would work without any distortion in widescreen at the correct resolution.
Surprised that with my given hardware I still wasn't getting a consistent 60 FPS at only High (not Ultra) settings. Nothing game breaking, but frames could dip occasionally.
Uplay crashes at initial launch. If you close it and re-launch, it works fine. It always tells you there was a problem with cloud syncing your saves, and never remembers your login info, so Uplay will error every time you exit the game. However, I never encountered an issue loading my saved game and haven't lost any progress.
I'm a little disappointed I couldn't run this with maxed out settings given it's a game from 2015. But it runs well enough. Typical Ubisoft bugs in game, but nothing game breaking. Never had any significant crashes or other issues that prevented me from enjoying it. Your tolerance for graphic conditions may impact how you feel about the overall performance, but given that I got the game for pretty cheap, I certainly feel I got my money's worth.

Works great out of the box, just don't mess with Proton versions if it is already working for you!
Make sure to only use FXAA setting for AA. Higher settings will result in large bars across your screen.
Fullscreen was not operational by default. Simply adjust the resolution to the correct setting for your monitor (1920x1080 for me) and it goes straight into fullscreen.
Uplay threw an error after downloading. Simply end the game and start it again. This issue does not recur.
When you exit the game it shows it is still running in the Steam app. Just be sure to press Stop after closing the game.
If you change the Proton version after first launch, Uplay will refuse to start, causing the game to fail to launch. To fix this you must find Uplay in the .steam folder and delete it, triggering a redownload of Uplay.

Added line "FlexibleMotionSimulationFPS=1" to "AC.ini" file to remove 30 fps cloth physics cap
Change AA settings to "FXAA" or you might expierence heavy artifacts
Currently newer versions of proton (>6.3.8) make game unplayable because of constant stuttering
~20 fps, with freezes
The game crashed once and once the audio was weird after waking up from sleep mode
