Deleted mp4s in ASTRONEER/Astro/Content/Movies/
Without deleting the videos, the splash screen shows, followed by a black screen, then termination a few seconds later. I tried mf-install, along with various tinkering, but could not get it to work as long as the mp4 files were present.
I used mf-install to get the startup videos working, otherwise there is only a black screen on launch.
Find Proton Experimental in you Library, right click and select Properties, Betas, and select bleeding-edge from the drop down.
Works great with minor caveats
This may be a limitation of the game, but the graphic options are 1x, 2x, 3x, and Full. All of them work, but the Full screen option does not maintain aspect ratio and is stretched.
I couldn't get my DS4 controller to be detected as a controller, but I was able to use Steam Input to remap my controller to the keyboard keys the game uses. The controls are pretty simple, so this was any easy task. Given the presence of community configurations already fixing this issue, I suspect Windows might have the same issue.
It's possible the very minor issues I experienced are present on Windows, but I do not currently have a way to check.
Game crashes on exit, requiring the exe to be killed, but otherwise works fine as long as "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%" is set in the launch options. I could not get my Steam Controller to respond, and cloud saves refused to download.
7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Default proton has no sound at all, but GE works fine.
I couldn't get it to work fullscreen, except by using "Chantelise Resolution Switcher" from the PCGamingWiki article. Even then, it still shows the menu bar and ghosting in the pillarbox areas on the side (The game is in 4:3 aspect ratio). I'm not sure if this happens on Windows. Works perfect in windowed mode.
The first run took a minute or so to launch. I almost gave up on it, but it just takes a little patience. Subsequent launches were much faster.
protontricks 349250 xna40
Without xna40 installed, it would lockup on the level select screen. With xna40, I played through the first world with no issues. I exited and restarted multiple times, and it worked as expected.
Works great out of the box
Connection to a dedicated server works great, too
Works perfectly with no tweaks. Also connected to a dedicated server with no problems.
Everything works perfectly, including achievement unlock
I had no issues running this along side Dwarf Fortress with no tweaks
I could not get the movies to play without switching to Glorious Eggroll, and even then they have no audio. The game has an option to disable the movies, so they aren't that important. There are only a handful, anyway. Everything else is flawless.
Runs perfectly, no issues. At least as good as windows, if not better.
Works perfectly out of the box
DLSS and Ray Tracing require some tweaks, but run well when enabled.
Works great out of the box
Set launch option PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 to enable DLSS
Works great out of the box
The first run took a minute or so, but was fine after that
Works great out of the box
There is stuttering at first due to shader compilation, but that tapers off and stops after playing a bit.
You can get in game if you're persistent enough to click the right place on the menu, but UI issues in game make it unplayable.
Proton-7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Menus and mouse cursor are rendered only as a green screen
6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Works great out of the box
I played through the main campaign with no issues
I wish there was a "Maybe" option for the enjoyable experience question
Seems to crash every 30 minutes to an hour. Luckily, it does autosave periodically.
Works great out of the box on max settings. No tweaking at all.
With my hardware, it runs, looks, and plays great.
Bloom seems to be the only minor texture glitch
My DualSense works fine with Steam Input, but otherwise is not detected, rendering Adaptive Triggers and Haptic Feedback inoperable
With everything set to Ultra, there is minor stuttering occationally
Works great out of the box, apart from needing to alt-tab back and forth
Alt-Tabbing back and forth was needed to make it completely Fullscreen. Also, my controller wasn't recognized until I did this.
Works great out of the box
It's fairly stuttery during initial shader compilation, but smooths out after.
Seems to work great out of the box, even multiplayer
Proton-6.12-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
I had issues with the Origin overlay not recognizing inputs, and therefore not letting me connect to my friend. Disabling the Steam overlay seems to have cleared that up and I was able to connect successfully.
Proton-6.12-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
The game works great for 15-20 minutes, but then crashes. Apparently, removing audio will fix the issue, but I did not try that.
I was unable to get the Native port to work, even forcing the Steam Linux Runtime
The game seems to work perfectly with Proton 7, though
Works perfect out of the box
I completed the game in one sitting and encountered no issues
Works great out of the box, with the exception of ME1 audio, which requires a simple fix
ME1 requires renaming or deleting openal32.dll, which restores audio
Had to use PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command% to get the game to launch. Steam Cloud sync doesn't seem to work. The game's performance is noticeably worse than on Windows.
Proton-7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-7.0rc3-GE-1, protontricks d3dcompiler_47, Check the github issues page for more details
Because shaders are compiling, the first few minutes can have some stuttering, but it's fine after that.
Works great with Proton Experimental. The default Proton would crash after loading from the world map.
7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Default Proton renders no audio. GE fixes this.
I couldn't get fullscreen to work, but I've heard this is a problem with the game as it happens on Windows. Windowed mode works great, however.
The game took a minute or so to start on first launch. Subsequent launches were much faster. Just be patient for the first run.
The minor issues I experienced did not detract from the enjoyment of the game, and might have been problems with the game itself
Very infrequent skips during the cinematics
Occationally there was a horizontal line of pixels in the middle of the screen that appeared to be shifted out of place
Works perfectly well. Even multiplayer to a dedicated server works great.
Just choose 64-bit when launching, and everything works perfect.
When launching the game, you have the choice of 32-bit or 64. 32-bit launched and ran, but did not render the entire screen. Only about the upper left three quarters of the screen was visible. 64-bit, however, ran perfectly fine.
Works great out of the box, aside from very minor audio sync issues during cutscences.
On the first run, the cutscences were very out of sync. After that, audio was pretty close to in sync. Setting pulseaudio latency to 30 cleared up what little was left.
Single player worked fine with no tweaks. Did not try Multiplayer.
Works great out of the box
Disable Steam Input to get Playstation controller glyphs
gamemoderun %command%
Works great out of the box
I normally use Steam Tinker Launch, but this game would not run with it.
With Vsync disabled and Framerate unlocked, there was a good bit a stutter. Locking the Framerate to 60 works fine.
I switched to Proton-GE to get the intro videos to play, just in case there are more ingame videos later.
I wasn't able to get it to launch with Valve's or GE's proton, but Proton-tkg works great
Works great out of the box, except for movies. Switching to Proton-6.14-GE-2 fixed the movies.
6.14-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Native port works great
When I first launched it and selected my resolution, the game locked up and I had to kill the process. After that, it seemed to be fine.
No sound, despite trying different tweaks
No sound at all
I could never get sound to work, though the game otherwise had no issues. I tried no esync/fsync, changing the audio buffer size, different proton versions (including GE), and editing the game config files. Nothing made any difference.
Works great out of the box
For the settings menu, mouse controls didn't work, but the keyboard works fine. Just use Tab, Space, Arrow Keys, and Enter to navigate and change options.
Works perfectly with the Zen kernel
Crashes every 15-20 minutes with the standard Arch kernel. Switching to Zen stopped all crashes.
