If you connect your Deck to a monitor through USB-C you can have your Deck function like a Wii U gamepad through the subscreen settings so you can experience the game as it was back in 2013.
Works great out of the box
Plays perfect out of the box.
Runs perfectly OOTB.
The game runs with zero issues OOTB.
Steam detects the controller (xbox one s) when the game launches but the game does not see it. If I switch to controller in the options menu I cannot control the game at all
Worked right out of the box, played with gamepad, two player mode worked too.
Guess you can say it is a Platinum rating ;)
Works out of the box with both mouse/keyboard and the Xbox One controller.
Runs perfectly out of the box.

Small controller issue aside, feels like native. Again.
Mouse input does not seem to recognize 'up'. Some controllers will not respond to the mash 'b' prompt, other mash prompts work from what I can tell. Steam Controller does allow for the 'b' mash prompt, so maybe an X or D input issue?
OK, please disregard the previous review. I was testing something and the game just has these sections that are weirdly buggy if you tinker around in them. These bugs can also occur on Wii U and Windows, and probably every platform. I've played for 10-ish hours since and haven't gotten a single bug or oddity.
Game preforms as well as it should, though my lacking hardware means I'm not personally running at a smooth 60, but anyone at minium specs should be just fine.

Upon further review, game has logic issues that could ruin experience
Certain prompts do not work with a controller, and mouse input is bugged
Game has several logic issues that need sorted. Multi-Unite can occasionally be bugged depending on circumstances. Unknown fully what causes it. Minor bugs, like fire particles/attacks not igniting Unite Hand also occur, if rarely. Game seems fully completable, but the logic bugs may cause problems. Enemy AI seems to suffer from this as well. Doesn't always do what would happen on Windows/Console, and can rarely lockup and not attack.
No soft locks so far as I can find

Without the controller issue, is otherwise native
The game otherwise plays perfectly, but an unavoidable issue has cropped up upon further playing. The button mashing prompts that pop up during the cinematic moments in the game do not respond to input from a controller- I cannot figure out why. This can make finishing the game solely with a controller impossible. The prompts on KB/M DO work, and can be used as a work around. Remapping via Steam can solve the issue, but even then I've had issues with consistency. More testing needed
Issues with controller input during button mashing prompts

Solid out of the box Linux/Proton support- Feels native!
It could be just like this on Windows, but cursor support for Unite Morphing feels inconsistent and doesn't draw/map well to my given input. I do not have Windows to test on, and few will probably want to play with keyboard/mouse anyway but it should be noted
Without testing on Windows am unsure of some small issues.
-Prerendered intro video looks to be integer scaled and may be smoother on Windows
-Mouse input has issues
-Escape key makes game windowed, but it's probably intentional
-Some slight visual bugs, it's inconsistent and probably intended behavior. Game can look a little rough even on the Wii U original, so likely just a carryover
