Worked without any issues.
Game runs perfectly, on windows it would stutter a lot, but under linux it runs supper smooth!
Completed without issues

I installed Epic version using Heroic Launcher. Need only to change the source file in the Steam (the shortcut made by Heroic Launcher)
Installed game with Heroic launcher from the Epic store. The original shortcut gave me error that I need to install C++ component. To bypass it I edited the shortcut point to Kao-Win64-Shipping.exe from the folder "KaoDRMFree". Then forced Steam in the options to use Proton Experimental. No more changes were made and the game works perfectly.

Works great on Steam Deck. Framerate sometimes drops a little, but very playable
Works perfectly fine

45 FPS @ High preset, 60 FPS @ Medium preset, rarely drops below that
Works great out of the box

I am running the Epic version of the game that I had installed via Heroic, but instead of launching it from Heroic I just took the DRM free version that's included and added that as a non-steam title. If you would like to do that you can find it wherever you have Kao installed so for me it's in Games/Heroic/KaotheKangarooZHs8t/KaoDRMFree/Binaries/Win64/Kao-Win64-Shipping.exe and just add the exe there and just enable Proton and it should just work without any issues. The Steam version should run fine, I played the demo a while back on Linux and it ran fine then.

AA to Low, Graphics to Medium, Resolution to 800P
External keyboard input ceased in the options menu, resorted to controller inputs
Installed via Heroic. Does not launch via Heroic: "must install visual c++"; Add shortcut to Steam, force Proton-GE-43, game now launches. Plays fine.

W zależnościach butelki musiałem doinstalować vcredist2019 i działa bez problemu (Epic Games Launcher)
steam上运行良好
out of the box

I installed the game Via Heroic, and the shortcut that was put to Steam gave me error: "the following components are required to run this program aka microsoft visual c++"
I found a Fix (Credit to Reddit u/GetBehindMeSatan)
Add the game to Steam manually, and instead of selecting the first exe you find in the main Kao directory, select the one within the KaoDRMFree directory. The directory path for me was: /home/deck/Games/KaotheKangarooZHs8t/KaoDRMFree/Binaries/Win64/Kao-Win64-Shipping.exe
Set the game to run with Proton Experimental in Steam
If it still gives the c++ runtime error, you can try to install it manually as well:
Download the latest version from Microsoft into the directory with the exe you added to Steam (doesn't have to be there but it makes things slightly easier)
In Steam, change the Target field from the Kao-Win64-Shipping.exe to the exe you just downloaded, and run the game. It should start the C++ Redistributable installer and you can go through that as usual
Once it's done, change the exe back to the Kao one and start the game

installed vcr2022
I know that Intel XE is not a high end gpu but the game runs extremely slow. Dunno if its game or linux issue

In order to run the game, I had to install "vcrun2022" via WineTricks
Kao The Kangaroo from Epic Games Store, opened via Heroic Games Launcher (using Wine-GE-Proton8-1).
The game works perfectly.

Press on start from steam and after a few seconds an error saying *the following components are required to run this program aka microsoft visual c
Perfect OOTB experience. Must be very well optimized. A true gem among the modern gaming mess.

The demo works right out of the box. Looking forward to play this when the full game is released.
A couple of hitches here and there, nothing too serious.

I only tried the Demo but it was a great experience

Demo works amazingly on proton. Hope the retail release does too!
Had a blast with this one using an xbox controller on XOW. My System76 Oryx Pro held its monitor refresh rate of 144hz very stready throughout the whole gameplay experience. Solid stuff!

Demo version works well
flickering in window mode
Demo version of Kao the Kangaroo works OK. My computer isn't really fast so I had maybe 15-20 fps but with better GPU it would be pretty good experience.

DEMO REPORT!!!
No issues, works outside the box.
