Played through the entire game without notable issues.
In fullscreen mode the game jumps to my second monitor when I alt-tab out, but I can drag it back.
Played through the whole game without even the slightest issue. Constant 60+ FPS on highest settings.
This game has a native Linux version, but the Windows version also works perfectly with Proton.
Played through the entire game without any issues.
A native Linux build is included in the game files, but not configured as a launch option. You can run Windvale.sh
in the game directory to use it.
Screen stays black until I alt-tab out of the game and back, "LowLevelFatelError" on exit. Otherwise fully playable with great performance.
Videos didn't work with vanilla Proton 5.13-2, everything seems to work great with GloriousEggroll 5.21-2.
The game itself runs flawlessly, just Ubisoft Connect and features that require it are problematic.
The game will only launch after logging in with a Ubisoft Connect account at least once. I had to reduce my MTU to 1452 (sudo ip link set dev <devicename> mtu 1452
) for Ubisoft Connect to be able to connect and log in. Afterwards Ubisoft Connect can be switched to offline mode permanently.
Heavy screen tearing in fullscreen despite vsync and high enough FPS, but none with borderless window.
Cloud saves aren't working, even if Ubisoft Connect is in online mode. No problems with local saves.
- Helix Store and Orichalcum trader unavailable, even if Ubisoft Connect is in online mode.
- Ubisoft overlay shows a warning about unsupported graphics drivers on each launch, unless the overlay is deactivated in the settings.

Complete freeze for 2-3 seconds when entering new areas for the first time, permanently runs smooth afterwards.
Didn't make it past the intro video with Proton 6.3-7.
Once it runs, it runs absolutely flawlessly. FPS never went below 60 even in intense scenes.
Had to set launch options to env WINEDLLOVERRIDES="cchromaeditorlibrary64=" %command%
and replace Launcher/LariLauncher.exe
with a symlink to bin/bg3_dx11.exe
.
Runs perfectly out of the box.
Both DX11 and Vulkan version work fine, but Vulkan has better performance.
Runs fine after installing corefonts, dotnet40 and tahoma via winetricks, forcing a second installation and disabling esync.
Menu works, but game gets stuck in infinite loading screen when starting a new game.
Runs as smooth as I'd expect a native game to. Performance seems fine.
Slight stuttering (1-2s) when entering new areas for the first time, probably due to shader compilation. Doesn't affect gameplay.
Everything works perfectly, except for the trailer in the menu.
The "Choo-Choo Charles" trailer in the main menu doesn't show, probably due to MF. Doesn't affect gameplay in the slightest.
Runs perfectly out of the box.
Doesn't seem to have a fullscreen mode, but I'm pretty sure that's not related to Linux/Proton.
Runs without any issues with 6.21-GE-2. Didn't try with regular Proton. Performance is okay.
Played through the entire game with 6.21-GE-2 without any Proton or Linux related problems.
Performance is good with Steam overlay disabled, mediocre otherwise. (I've heard this is the case on Windows too tho.)
Immediately crashes since updating to the 1.5 patch.
Same result with 7.2-GE-2, 6.21-GE-2, and vanilla 7.0-1.
Game refused to launch after updating to patch 1.5, but now works fine again. I assume rebooting fixed it, since I changed nothing else.
Runs perfectly out of the box. Only has some problems that occur on Windows as well.
All input methods work fine, but only controller mappings are shown, even when using keyboard & mouse input. (Not Linux-specific, same on Windows.)
Couldn't move my character at first. Worked fine after moving the game to a different drive, like others suggested. (Not Linux-specific, happens on Windows as well.)
No online connectivity, since servers were shut down in Jan 2022. (Not Linux-specific, same on Windows.)
Everything works perfectly out of the box, including the online connection. Performance is amazing!
With audio fixed everything except alt-tab works perfectly. Performance is great! (60+ FPS on max. settings.)
Had to set PulseAudio sample rate to 48000 to fix audio crackling.
Game window stays permanently black after using alt-tab.
Runs better than I'd expect even from a good native port. Great performance on maxed settings.
Had some trouble starting it correctly with vanilla Proton 5.0-9, but everything works fine with the GloriousEggroll version.
Gameplay works great (no audio issues), but cutscenes are skipped and the game won't launch in fullscreen.
Cutscenes only worked after I installed https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install and I have to force the game into fullscreen via my window manager. Sometimes (but rarely) the cursor is visible in cutscenes. Apart from this the game runs perfectly and with great performance (at least 60 FPS in 1080p with maxed settings).
Played through the entire game without any issues.
Short black screen, then immediately crashes.
Could not get it to work with Proton 6.3-5 or Proton 6.12-GE-1. Installing media foundation patches and/or enabling the "previous" version didn't help.
Videos have a green bar at the bottom, but work fine otherwise.
Got ~5000h in this game via Lutris and it runs just as well via Steam.
Some unofficial addons don't work properly, but that's not the game's fault. (ArcDPS works without issues. GW2Taco doesn't, but you can use https://github.com/AsherGlick/Burrito instead. Didn't try BlishHUD.)
Had to install FAudio 19.02 (https://github.com/Kron4ek/FAudio-Builds/releases/tag/19.02) in the Wine prefix to fix the audio lag in cinematic sequences, now the game runs perfectly. No crackling or other audio issues. Performance is surprisingly good. Slight stutter when loading new areas for the first time (probably until shaders are cached), otherwise mostly stable 30 FPS using the lowest setings with 1080p on a system below the minimum requirements.
Runs almost perfectly, performance is great!
Short stuttering when entering new areas because of shader compilation. Some graphical effects look slightly glitchy at times.
Runs flawlessly out of the box. Performance is fine (~80FPS in 1080p on maximum settings).
This game has a native Linux version, but the Windows version also works perfectly.
Mouse grab would sometimes fail, letting the cursor leave the game window, which lead to missing inputs. Happened rarely and can be easily fixed by clicking into the game window.
Receiving game invites would often freeze the game UI permanently. Sending invites worked fine.
Some issues with game invites, but once connected everything was fine.
Vanilla Proton didn't work. GE worked mostly fine, but had more issues than Experimental.
Absolutely flawless out of the box. Played the entire game on highest settings without any issues.
Runs flawlessly after copying the DLLs from Bin/Win64Shared to Bin/Win64. Framerate rarely drops below 60 on medium settings.
Runs flawlessly after copying the DLLs from Bin/Win64Shared to Bin/Win64. Great performance, around 80-100 FPS on "very high" settings. (Huge improvement compared to 55-70 FPS on "medium" with Proton 4.2-9).
Insanely low camera sensitivity with mouse, but otherwise perfect out of the box.
Camera sensitivity is insanely low with mouse, but fine with controller.
Running perfectly without any issues.
The controls are a nightmare, but that has nothing to do with Linux or Proton.
Offline gameplay works perfectly out of the box, but can't connect to the internet.
Offline gameplay works perfectly out of the box, but won't connect to the internet.
The end credits are just a black screen. Otherwise fully playable out of the box without other issues.
Had to apply the fix from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/177#issue-353144749 to get sound, now everything works perfectly.

Sometimes the mouse gets stuck after alt-tabbing out of the game. Entering the settings menu fixes this.
Everything works perfectly out of the box, even importing ME1 savegames via the launcher. No audio problems (even on first start) and no crashes so far. Didn't test online functions.
The Windows version runs perfectly out of the box.
The native Linux version crashes on launch for me.
Works perfectly apart from the same problems it has on Windows (slightly jaggy mouse input and Vsync capped at 30 FPS).
Proton 6.3-6 and Experimental had problems with video playback. Everything worked perfectly with 6.15-GE-2. 60+ FPS even on epic settings.
Runs perfectly with great performance on highest settings, but I had to force Proton version 4.11-2, because the there was a "strobe light" visual glitch when using the whitelisted version (3.7-8).
Apart from the weird cursor movement everything works flawlessly. Playing on ultra and performance is great.
Mouse cursor has some wonky acceleration, but once I got used to it this had little to no impact on gameplay.
Roughly half-way through the game there's a video that only showed a test pattern with Proton 7.0-4. Everything worked fine with GE-Proton7-41.
Screen stays black after initial setup menu.
Same result with Proton 8.0-3 and Experimental.
During initial setup the game got stuck in a black screen, but I was able to continue by repeatedly pressing the escape key.
Doesn't use the correct audio device if multiple exist. Either fully playable or completely broken graphics (roughly 50/50 chance each launch).
Windows version runs perfectly out of the box.
Had some trouble with the native Linux version.
Embedded videos only show a placeholder image, probably media foundation related. Stability and performance are fine. (150 FPS on Ultra.)
Embedded videos only show a placeholder image, probably media foundation related.
Works perfectly in theory, no problems with mouse controls. Unfortunately barely playable due to heavy stuttering (15-30FPS for roughly a second in short but irregular intervals, especially while walking/running). Almost no performance difference between lowest and highest settings.
The game now runs flawlessly. The performance issues were fixed by Proton 4.11-4 / DXVK 1.3.4. No stuttering and almost constant 60 FPS on ultra settings. No problems with mouse controls.
The performance issues were fixed by Proton 4.11-4 / DXVK 1.3.4. No stuttering and almost constant 60 FPS on ultra settings. No problems with mouse controls. Unfortunately the game crashes when a live action cutscene starts.
Played through the entire game without major issues.
Some achievements didn't activate properly on Steam. Not sure if this is Linux related.
Linux version of Re-Elected didn't launch, both Windows and Linux version of the legacy branch were unplayable due to frequent freezing. Windows version of Re-Elected ran perfectly.
Update 5 worked flawlessly out of the box for me. Didn't try previous or upcoming versions.
Slightly choppy when some regions are loaded for the first time (probably until shaders are cached) otherwise great performance without any problems so far.
Sadly with Proton I can't continue beyond level 11. Apart from this it ran almost flawlessly.
Inventory and menu graphics sometimes glitchy, but still usable. No issues with in-game graphics.
Sometimes crashes when a level ends, but usually after saving. When finishing level 11 it always seems to crash before saving, meaning I can't continue.
Had some windowing/fullscreen issues with the native version, which I didn't have with Proton.
Mouse can leave the window in fullscreen mode (can be fixed with protontricks 558420 grabfullscreen=y
). Clicks only register around half the time in some parts of the game, which unlike others I wasn't able to fix with virtual desktop mode.
With Proton 7.0-5 videos were completely black.
Had to replace StrangeBrigade.exe with StrangeBrigade_Vulkan.exe to skip the entirely black launcher, afterwards everything worked perfectly. (No sound problems, great performance.)
Replace StrangeBrigade.exe with StrangeBrigade_DX12.exe
Audio is randomly either screeching, crackling or silence.
The Vulkan version was perfectly playable with Proton 4.2-9 and Nvidia driver 430.26. Not sure what else changed.
DX12 version works as well as a native game would. Great performance and didn't notice any problems at all.
Replace StrangeBrigade.exe with StrangeBrigade_DX12.exe
Vulkan version worked with Proton 4.2-9, but this doesn't seem to be the case any more.
Runs perfectly out of the box. Great performance, no stuttering, no visual glitches.
Runs perfectly out of the box.
Getting mod support via BepInEx to work requires setting WINEDLLOVERRIDES='winhttp.dll=n,b' %command%
in the launch options.
This game has a native Linux version, but the Windows version also works perfectly with Proton.
Works almost perfectly except for some occasional audio glitches (crackling, weird echoes). Additional steps were necessary to get NPC voices and music to work. Performance seems pretty good.
Had to install XACT and FAudio to get NPC voices to work. Gameplay works as good as it gets, performance is great, but audio occasionally crackles a little and very rarely just completely stops working.
Performance isn't great, otherwise fully playable.
Had to go down to medium settings for stable 30 FPS, but it still looked great and 30 FPS was fine in this case.
Very rare crashes right after save points, but otherwise perfectly playable without any issues.
Crashed twice in 12h, but both times immediately after a chapter transition save point, so no playtime lost.
2K Launcher didn't find the game on first launch, but worked fine on subsequent launches.
UE installer complains about ACL on every launch, but the game itself runs almost perfectly. Good performance, no audio issues. Some semi-transparent materials aren't rendered while examining objects, but this doesn't affect gameplay at all. DX12 version doesn't start.
Redux version loads to around 90%, plays a short waterfall noise, then hangs forever. Original version doesn't even start.
Redux version works fine with the fix from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1103#issuecomment-437668223, but is barely playable due to performance (20-30 FPS on lowest settings). Original version doesn't even start.
Redux version works perfectly out of the box and has good performance. Regular version is fully playable, but has slight visual glitches and horrible performance.
Everything works perfectly out of the box. Amazing performance! No problems with Nvidia Hairworks, invisible enemies, stuttering or crashes. Didn't test controller support.
Crashes when activating widescreen, runs fine otherwise.
Videos in the tutorial menu don't work with regular Proton 6.3-7.
Background videos don't work with regular Proton 6.3-7.
While the game itself runs perfectly, due to EAC only the offline tutorial is playable.
Easy Anti Cheat prevents online play
Stutters for a few seconds after entering a map for the first time, but runs perfectly afterwards.
Heavy stuttering for a few seconds after loading into a new map for the first time. Great performance afterwards.
Had to force using Proton because the native version was broken.
The native version had single-digit FPS due not recognizing my GPU driver and using the software renderer instead, so I had to force using the Windows version with Proton, which worked flawlessly.
