It runs perfect and at 4K with highest details with 60 FPS constantly. Looks stunning!
It runs perfect and at 4K with highest details with 60 FPS constantly over HDMI. Looks stunning! Bug with display port connection.
Limited max. resolution when connected by Display Port to 1920x1080, but when connected by HDMI it supports 3840x2160.
Loads into a Black Screen with mouse pointer, but that's it then. Tried it with mf-install and Proton 5.0.
#1) Download ZIP & Unpack Media Foundation support for Wine&WineProton called "mf-install" from https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install . #2) Installed for Proton 5.0 by: WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/683320/pfx PROTON=$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ 5.0 ./mf-install.sh -proton (This code need to be executed inside the downloaded folder). #3) Download and Install Game in Steam, open Properties and force Proton 5.0 as Steam Play Compatibility Tool (in this case).
Borked. Did not start despite the previously mentioned tinkering protontricks.
The Game runs flawless out of the box either with Proton 7.x or Proton Experimental now also on Steam, played it before with Lutris/Uplay.
runs smooth with 60FPS in 4K Ultra/noFSR and 23 Opponents, but uses 15,2GB VRAM. Seen Minor Artifacts in cockpit view, long loading times.
nothing to worry since it's V0.1
for early access Version 0.1.1 the amount of performance and fun is remarkable.
The game seems to run, or it a least tries to connect and get you to play. No Luck though to play anything after the tutorial.
After the initial Tutorial game every try to get playing more than 30 seconds failed for an hour. I don't know if it was related to anti cheat or being kicked of every game I try.
It runs almost perfect, except that I couldn't play a song of my own drive, the song import will crash. otherwise perfectly playable.
It runs almost perfect, except that I couldn't play a song of my own drive, the song import will crash. otherwise perfectly playable.
minor controller problem: The Game needs to be started from Big Picture Mode with the Controller on and active, sometimes this procedure needs a second try - but it always works now.
The native linux version is now abandoned and misses achievements, but the game runs almost perfect on Proton.
The Steam Play Version runs without issues, much better than the constantly crashing native version.
works out of the box with no real issues
very rare crashes, once every 6h or so.
playing the game with feral`s gamemode out of habit, not necessary.
Runs perfectly out of the box. Completed Arcade-Mode with no issues.
The Game starts with the tweak everytime but requires game restarts until the controller works by chance.
the controller can't be used most of the time. requires game restarts until it works by chance.
It won't start. Steam shows that the game is running, but nothing happens and it needs to be forcefully stopped.
The Game runs with PROTON_USE_WINED3D11 added and a restart of the machine. Only adding the workaround and pushing "Play" strangely leads to the game running without stopping, but never actually starting). I would rate that Platinum, but there's a Gamepad problem which renders the game unusable for me personally. The Xbox360 Wireless Controller was working partially, but the key mapping is off: no A,B,X,Y Buttons are active (with few exceptions like A in the Map view, but impossible to play a Level), pushing some button combination leads back to the desktop, while the game runs, and then the controller pushes the mouse cursor constantly to the right until the controller is turned off. I haven't tinkered anything on the controller side, it's the standard xpad driver.
The controller problem persists. The game just won't accept my standard xbox360 wireless controller. The Game seems to know only keyboard controls. Today I started the game by Wine Steam (for windows) installed with Lutris and everything works perfectly. So it's definitly a Proton problem.
Runs flawless but very raw on performance demands.
Had to turn down from 2160p to 1080p for lesser lagged controls.
Almost flawless except the "vinyl sound" sometimes
Sometimes it sounds as a vinyl record. :)
I tried the Demo and it runs out of the box without any complaints.
works after installing winetricks, installing xact for the game and telling it's wine.cfg to use it (by "New override for library", add "xaudio2_6" and "xaudio2_7").
sudo apt-get install winetricks
WINEPREFIX=/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/427190/pfx/ winetricks xact
WINEPREFIX=/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/427190/pfx/ winecfg
crashes at cut scenes without "xact" (xaudio) installed
Pictures missing in "Photo Viewer" (in-game)
The Game runs without flaws thanks to Proton; the native Linux Version had some crashes.
Online-Multiplayer was not tested because it was missing players when I tried a few times - never tried on weekends yet.
The proton version runs almost (95% I guess) as good in performance as the native linux version, but misses the constant crashes.
The Career mode doesn't work (for me and many others), it's a serious bug known by the game's creators - not a proton specific problem.
The game suffers from "no connection to the server" and "Error code XYZ" when the career mode should start. This problem is known and introduced by the game's creators and there is no sign to get rid of it.
This arcade gem of a game runs absolutely flawless including the addition of an arcade stick and tate mode. Glorious!
don`t try this. Thanks to EA Anti Cheat and their ignorance to support linux it`s absolutely borked forever.
Starting throws an Error: "Wine not supported". I tried it in Steam (Proton 7.0, Experimental, ProtonGE) & with Origin in Wine.
Totally Borked.
100% borked on Linux as EA AntiCheat (EAAC) was introduced with this game on Kernel-Level, causing trouble to windows users too (EA fail).
100% borked forever
While the game runs in theory almost perfectly, when you choose the wrong match to play, the game crashes suddenly.
specific matches crash the game with a directx-error everytime, others run seamless.
I've played the Game for over 300 hours by now, and while it can be played well, it is impossible for me to play it seriously competitive.
"Steam Cloud Error"
Game crashes often before a competitive match
Game crashes often before a match starts
It runs flawless out of the box.
seldomly the mouse clicks are failing and need a pause/unpause of the game to work again.
almost flawless - tested the Demo version
In a match the mouse cursor shutters seldomly.
it runs enjoyable within the recommended settings (Proton exp., mid graphics, no vsync, no dynamic qual.), but with the flaws.
The game controller needs to be connected when the game runs at all times, otherwise it will not be recognized, causing a restart to fix.
Crashes only occasionally and causes a restart (or user re-login) of the PC to fix it.
feral gamemode is not supported
Runs perfect and in glorious 4K. All technical niggles that I remember from a few months back are gone.
Runs absolutely flawless and on highest GPU settings with constant 30FPS. Played it through in 40 hours, but it's genious and I'll play it more often for sure. Sometime, because of heat or maybe driver problems, my PC shut the game window, but that's not the games fault: I was just testing different drivers and limit of the system with hardware cooler and fan setups. Normally, it runs stable and fine.
Frostpunk runs almost perfectly out of the box, I played it more than 70 hours. The game has serious graphical perfomance issues though: I get smooth 25-30fps only on a mix of low to medium quality settings. It shows graphical faults of missing buildings and settings menu when textures are on "medium" quality: tried tweaks with no success.
Tried to start it and it works to start an online game. I will add a more detailed report after some game time local and online.
Runs out of the box and with acceptable performance of around 30 FPS at 1080p with Mid-High Settings.
Fatal Error at Startup
"Fatal ERROR Failed to create EAC game client interface. Last System Error: File not found."
Works flawless. This is ProtonDB: the proton version runs fantastic! ;) Native is borked somehow, at least on my machine.
Steam Error. The Game doesn't start because of a missing executable to update: missing .../InsurgencyEAC.exe
almost flawless.
Connected Controller disables the mouse and makes the game uncontrollable. Restarting without the controller works well.
After 200 hours in 2 months: this game runs flawless by Proton. I can`t tell if any of the very few issues are related to Proton.
The data import from my Ground Zeroes` save game worked very well. Performance is smooth: 4K very well around 60FPS (mid/high graphics).
suddenly refused to be played by the latest Version 5.0-9 of Proton. Choosing Version 4.11-13 did the trick..
Runs perfectly after tweaks. Without "Disable Esync" the screen goes black after starting a game to play, menu and startup of the game itself is fine.
Runs perfectly for 10 Minutes after tweaks, then freezes the whole PC everytime! Doesn't connect to the online servers too.
I wonder how this game deserves anything better than a "borked": don't you play the games you test or do you stop after 10 minutes anyway? Because for 10 minutes it runs absolutely fine with diabled Esync, but then it's over - everytime. Any mode you try, it will be time limited until your RAM fills up and the computer starts to shovel data to your hard drive and back, to stutter and effectively stop the whole PC, to leave you only with a hard reset of your PC. An absolute shame for such a great game!
Finally it runs well and stable with some tweaks at 60 FPS. It would run out of the box but very slow at unplayable 5 FPS.
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60
did not start without "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" in Launch Options, but then it ran smooth and without faults at a first glance.
Tested it by playing through the 5min Mode and it runs flawless. BTW: Genius Game! :)
runs flawless with huge ressource demand.
unable to start in 4K resolution, fine in 1080p.
works out of the box but it is very demanding for fast hardware.
Frame rates are very low even on 1080p for no obvious reasons besides that the game is so gorgeous in 4K Ultra and blurs extremly in 1080p on a 4K display. It locks ugly at my machine and is still not above 30fps even with 1080p lowest graphics
The Game runs perfectly out of the box with no tweaks, smooth and fast. I get constant 60FPS on a mix of medium to high settings at 1080p Resolution. No problems affecting the Steam Play experience at all. Although the game has one common problem at full screen mode: every steam or system notification pop-up kicks you out of game and leaves you with a black screen - sound still running, forcing me to kill and restart the game. As someone else mentioned here, I added "-windows -borderless" to the game's launch options to force the game into borderless windowed mode; a feature that the developers failed to add and can cause windows users into problems too. It's not a problem of Steam Play, more of Xorg or what ever is used and I made the experience in different desktops like LXDE, that those black screened windows can be revived.
It won't start after 3-5sec pretending. Nothing. When using WineD3d11 there came a black screen shortly for about 2 sec. Then again, nothing.
The game runs perfect, apart from the initial controller bound problem.
When 2 Controllers are used, the bounds are switched: Controller 2 is Player 1 and the opposite with Player 2. Plus: Player 2 switches to Keyboard/Mouse Control and has to be manually set back to controller input.
flawless with mid GFX and 75 Fps, except one area with 24Fps. Each start of a game takes about 20s to get going. no crashes in 2+ hours.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Feral Gamemode "on"
I activated Feral's Gamemode to boost the stable framerate.
I tried the Demo. It fails to start with mesage: "cannot load library nw_elf.dll"
I tried the Demo. It fails to start with mesage: "cannot load library nw_elf.dll"
Runs very well with latest Proton 5.13-2.
Xbox Gamepad needs to be activated by pushing the ESC-Key to choose gamepad mode. (in Windows also)
Run perfectly out of the box and after loading controller configs (as in windows for any controller) it works perfect with Xbox360 Wireless Controllers too.
It runs well with fine performance and playable by Keyboard, but the Xbox 360 Controller is not recognised within the game, despite correct and configured Steam Controller Settings and detected Xbox 360 Controller in Steam. When "Steam Input Per-Game Settings" turned "forced off", the Controller is actually working, but it keeps pushing to the up-right corner without any chance to control direction, which renders the game completely unplayable.
Starts with three error messages about packages "libGLESv2.dll". Sound only, Screen is black. No tweak succeeded.
Black Screen after it seems to start with sound, after I ignored three error messages.
protontricks 407600 d3dcompiler_46
I clicked play, then I couldn't see anything and then it crashed.
I clicked play, then I couldn't see anything and then it crashed.
It works almost flawless "out-of-the-box" with a few niggles that are completely acceptable for me. No tweaks are needed.
only slightly crackling is heared in some cinematic scenes, but only occasionally and actually not worthy for me to report - but it exists.
The game has no exclusive Fullscreen by design.(https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Red_Dead_Redemption_2#cite_note-rose10-81)
no cloud save, but the normal (local) save works. I manually transfer them into my own cloud if needed. ;)
first crash at 5 hours playtime.
The installation of the Rockstar Games Social Club (RGSC) was far from straightforward, unlike the game itself. I had to restart steam after the game installs and restarting steam again after RGSC installs and then finally hit "Play" to start gaming.
It works flawless "out-of-the-box". No tweaks are needed. Performance is great too.
The Rockstar Launcher needs a steam restart after installation.
It runs absolutely flawless and with fine performance too.
No VR modes tested.
The Demo crashes immediately after initial loading.
Used: PROTON_USE_VKD3D=1 %command%
The game spawns a black screen with blinking cursor. No game possible also with several launch options and proton versions.
Finally it runs out of the box for a quick test of Area 1. I did not notice anything off or bad, playing with mouse controls. :)
This groundbreaking game of the early 2000-era runs breathtaking perfectly on Linux with Proton.
Unplayable. The game crashes after the title screen.
No Sound. No Music. But otherwise perfectly playable.
tried to launch it with all the standard tinker launch options but with no success yet.
Tempest 4000 finally starts and it runs well, but without the music, which is quite essential to this game.
No Music.
Tried the Demo and it works fine.
selecting the moving tools is inacurrate and works only randomly
It won't start. Nothing.
Entering a battle crashes the game, therefore unplayable. You could play by auto-battle from the strategic view alternatively, but that kills the core of the game. Borked for me. No success with any of these tweaks
Runs absolutely flawless with Proton. Compared to the regularly crashing Native version it's a much better experience with Proton.
Proton performance is also comparable to native
Short test: Needs mentioned tweaks to start, seems playable though, crashes on exit.
Runs perfectly out of the box. No problem at all from start to finish.
It runs and is playable with no tweaks at lowest resolution (640x480px), except minor sound clacking issues. No Crashes. Although my hardware is weak and can barely run the game, it is playable, but I had slightly shuttering grafics with these drivers. It's slightly uncomfortable to play, but not unplayable. I tested the game also with the latest free drivers pack from " https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers " and the graphics ran better, quite smooth, but the sound issues remained.
Although my old notebook hardware is weak, it's just about perfectly playable at lowest resolution (640x480px) with disabled Esync.
The Game starts with the tweaks but crashes at the first fight. Windowed only, no Fullscreen .
Either crashed at startup or (after all possible Tweaks) never started and I had to force it to close.
