Game does not work due to anti-cheat
EA added their proprietary anti-cheat to this game, which has no Linux support. https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-2042/news/eaac-and-battlefield
They didn't only kill this game by pushing you through the new incompatible EA launcher. They killed the Titanfall series as well.
Unable to launch the game due to EA forcing you through their new EA app, which doesn't allow Wine due to it being unsupported.
Don't support EA until they accept you for not being the "ideal consumer."
EA anticheat, I try to join the game, but the server kicks me out

Installs fine, launch menu starts fine with EA, Once game session starts it encounter an error. "The program encountered E11000B at 00001BA5 during installation. Wine not Supported."
Wine Explicitly Not Supported
installed on NTFS drive meant for windows. manually mounted and symlink created between bootable linux drive and the game folder on the NTFS drive.
Launches the EA launcher, which runs perfectly fine. But once it gets to launching the actual game it spits out an error message saying that Wine isn't supported :(

Tried this game on free weekend. DICE plz fix (but they definitely won't since kernel-level anticheat is coming).
The programme encountered E111000B at 00001BA5 during initialization. Wine is not supported
I also tried proton experimental but to no avail
ea is switching to their proprietary kernel level anticheat so zero hope for this game to work under linux through proton
Black screen indefinitely when loading the map
EA is tweaking the anti cheat which may be causing the black screen instead of getting kicked by EAC which is being replaced by a kernel level AC
The game is online only and the anti cheat used to access the game fails to authenticate on Linux
Easy Anti Cheat will not authenticate
after you load into a game you start playing for around 10-30 seconds then it goes to a black screen prob cos the anti cheat picks you up not sure
kicks you out after a few seconds to a black screen
crashes after a few seconds of picking your location and playing
not sure if anyone knows a fix but it seems like a improvement compared to past reviews

Я смог запустить без проблем, начать игру, выбрал точку высадки, почти дошел до первого чек поинта и получил ошибку авторизации EAC. Это означает, что в серверном конфиге EAC установлен запрет на запуск линукс из под Wine/Proton. Ждем когда соизволят добавить разработчики игры.
BF2042 installs and runs just fine using the latest Proton Experimental as of 07/12/23. The menu system renders and functions normal. I started a match and initially all was well. However, within a minute of being in game, you get the "Player was kicked due to Easy Anti Cheat failed to authenticate." and thus you're sent back to the main menu.
Initially, user experiences no issues. However, Easy Anti Cheat kicks you within about a minute or two due to it's failure to authenticate.
EasyAntiCheat issues
After a long time crashing on some wine error, it finally starts up to the menu again. Joining a match does also work, but unfortunately you will be kicked quickly by EAC after a minute.
EAC authentication failure
Game starts with bleeding edge Proton, but Easy Anti Cheat kicks you from the match after a few seconds of playing. I really wish the devs would enable linux support for EAC...

Attempting to join a match results in a kick either during joining or soon after loading into the match (about 60s maximum)
Attempting to host your own game results in getting kicked back to the main menu or a black screen freeze
Runs perfectly fine under GE and even relatively performant, but the anti-cheat won't play with Linux without the developer enabling it or a shim

Try BF4, BF1, BF5 instead. They all work flawlessly with Proton.
Game doesn't start
Game is staying on start screen and few minutes later closing. I tried a lot of proton versions but game don't started.

As mentioned in title, the game doesn't go past the splash screen. Simply crashes after a few moments.
Updates have made it worse - GE crashes on the season 2 loading screen; stock Steam proton doesn't even get to the loading screen
Can't launch the game on Steam Deck. Would love it if they added support, but as of October 2022, the game is unfortunately borked!
Game launches then gets stuck on the Season 2 initial Splash Screen. Never reaches the main menu.
Tried several version of Proton GE aswell as Proton Experimental, same error across all of them. A shame considering the other Battlefield titles run flawlessly on Linux.
Installs, starts, crashes after half a minute on the new Zero Hour splash screen.
Switched to GE proton, tried multiple versions, still didn't work.
Tried the latest Steam Proton and Experimental. Tried Glorious Eggroll's Proton, multiple versions including the latest one and v14 one. Still didn't work. At one point the game didn't even start and wanted to install Origin again upon hitting 'Play'. This was fixed by removing the compatdat files for the game. Bottom line, the game itself didn't start/play. I was hoping to play this Battlefield entry as I've really enjoyed previous entries (4, 1 and 5) on Linux since they run excellent.
