It runs flawlessly with Proton experimental bleeding-edge. Even runs faster than it runs on windows 10.
Sometimes game freezes about 10 seconds but never happens in the same session again.
Only thing that doesnt work is the ingame gamma setting.

none
The Gamma Slider finally works since update 2.4 today. No tinkering with color profiles on wayland needed anymore.

This tool will let you change the gamma easily for you're monitor and it's easy to understand. I was cursed to X11 before. Now I have wayland. If on GNOME, it should work.

Runs really well - if not better than on Windows. Some tweaks need to be done to make it work.
Necessary to make system-wide changes - game does not connect properly without these.
In-game gamma setting is not working.
After some time spent in spectate (spectating teammates while dead), FPS drop significantly.
Game would kick me out instantly due to EAC Anti-cheat.
Fixed by running sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 2147483647" and making this command run automatically on system startup as specified in this guide.

Easy Anticheat will regularly fail for unknown reasons, resulting in being unable to join any games. I have not found any reliable fixes or temporary fixes for this.

Does run great, gamma slider broken

Can't play, anti-cheat kick me everytime when I am trying to start match. Tried many Proton versions, bleeding-edge too, nothing works..

What a great example to follow for Hunt on Linux!
Great stability and performance for Hunt Showdown in the last months almost year. A very remarkable game since it came out in February last year.
For me this game should not be marked as Gold but Platinum.

Great to have a multiplayer not auto banned!
Works great (or as great as one can expect from Hunt)

HDR worked with gamescope but it was a littlebit unstable, need to wait for wayland ;)

Works well with minor issue with brightness settings and frame cap
The uncapped framerate option did not seem to work, even with V-Sync disabled. Always capped at 60FPS. Enabling V-Sync caps framerate at monitor refresh rate, which is good enough. This is needed to get frame cap higher than 200FPS.
In-game brightness slider does nothing, even when switching between borderless, fullscreen windowed, and fullscreen. Workaround for me was to adjust monitor gamma and brightness manually when playing. Not ideal, but it works. Scenes are incredibly dark otherwise.

Even without right gamma (huge handicap) the game is enjoyable and i still get called a cheater in steam profile comments.
Gamma slider in settings is broken, cant fix it ingame. You can only switch to x11 and setup script to have gamma changed when game is focused.
Game runs great and the only issiue there is, the gamma slider being broken is kinda significant issiue for competetive game.

Worked great until 2 days ago when it would launch to a black screen with mouse pointer visible. Was able to get it working with launch options recommended below by @Titan.

EAC 0x4000a
Can't join any match, I get kicked out due to EAC error. Tried all proton version, nothing seems to work. Not sure if there's any tinkering I could've done.

Error 0x4000a
Can't play due to anti-cheat. Tried all versions of proton with no luck.

gamma adjustments do not work, HDR does not work
Noticeably better performance in linux than windows, smoother, 10-15% higher peak framerate. Can't adjust gamma in game or use HDR, but gamma can be adjusted system-wide and work in game. For me, is a clearly better experience than in Windows (although Windows runs fine also).

VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%
Game would almost always launch as a black screen with a titlebar, and wouldn't load at all. Not sure as to why it would sometimes work, but pointing it directly to my vulkan nvidia ICD file with the launch options fixed the issue and it launches perfectly now.

Does change to borderless or fullscreen on its own sometimes (very seldom) when tabbing, but that i had on windows too

I changed up the directional pad to a few different commands
I had to launch it in desktop mode first before even opening it up in gaming mode
I had to down the graphics and I haven't tried tinkering with them since.
It might just be my internet but the game never wants to connect to a server.
I have most of my settings set to low except for my fps I have that at 200fps but I use the steam decks settings to keep it set at 30fps. Game runs well just make sure to run it through desktop first (idk why but it works for me)

Everything Works
Except all server choice is 0ms, which is you cannot play solo queue, unless have atleast one teammate in order to play the game

requests focus constantly during loading
The game (NOT steam) often randomly needs to read THE ENTIRE GAME FILES on launch (~80gb) and continues ingame! installing on an SSD is unfortunately mandatory. Major updates require deletion of /steamapps/compatdata/594650 and /steamapps/common/Hunt Showdown 1896/users/Shaders. Fullscreen sometimes breaks the menu (choose full windowed)
Otherwise, better frametimes on linux make the game feel much smoother than Windows

Does not connect to Hunt servers by default, launching with Proton Experimental fixes this
After playing for 900 hours on windows 10/11 and having many performance issues over the years, I was surprised to find that Hunt ran very well out of the box on Linux. However, it did not connect to any servers by default (ping for all regions showed as 0ms). Only tinker needed was using Proton Experimental, which resolved this issue.

After changing post-processing to very high, everything works perfectly. Surprisingly stable! Using experiemental, but haven't tried others.
Heavy flickering/orbs from sun rays. Setting post-processing to low, very high, or ultra fixes it entirely for me.

Since the gamma slider doesn’t work on Wayland, I switched to X11. On X11, I created a simple script to boost gamma before launching the game. I also changed Nvidia Settings > OpenGL Settings to High Performance. In Steam Settings > Downloads, I enabled Shader Pre-Caching and Background Processing of Vulkan Shaders. That’s it! Happy hunting.

Lots of EAC 0x4000a recently.
Seems pretty random, works on some days, doesn't work on others, maybe event related?

You can play almost the same as on Windows, except for the problems that the game itself has.
Randomly may start to crackle, but may not.
Weird mouse input sometimes, same as on Windows, this is problem of game. (not connected to crackling)
Sometimes game have a perfomance drop in certain areas, haven't seen that on Windows

You have to tinker with the settings in this game anyway. The fix is easy to figure out.

Unplayable with post-processing set to medium or high. Small defects on very High and Ultra post-processing. No defects when set to Low post-processing.

See notes.
Sun glare causes little UFO green orb to orbit head
From all maxed settings on Win10 at 4k to near slideshow frame rates on medium settings at 4k. Due to large amount of ram on this particular machine tried disabling swap and reducing swapiness to 0- both resulted in significant performance improvements. Still running a reduced resolution (1920x1080) but some settings to high, looks ok and is playable at ~70 fps. Nvidia proprietary drivers.

found i have more fps on GE-Proton9-26. However, i could not connect to region servers without being on the latest GE version. all other proton versions (including Valves proton) could not connect to regional servers

Sun rays appeared weird resulting in odd artifacting, only occured once.
Must set Proton Experimental to the Bleeding Edge Debug Beta In Steam. Game is stable otherwise.

Alt+TAB Bug is gone with 2.3 Update. Game is stable. No other Bugs. Set Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge.

As soon as the 2.3 update hit I found that my ping to every region server showed as 0ms, and I received a "region is currently unavailable" message if I tried to enter the matchmaking queue. Searched on the official Discord and found that this has been fixed in Proton Bleeding Edge:
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3898#issuecomment-2755097140

Game has better FPS on linux than windows, even if you need to wait a few hours on event launches for fixes like this to play.
Set your Proton Experimental to beta "bleeding edge bebug" then launch hunt using compatibility force Proton Experimental.

"The region you had previously selected is not available anymore. Please select a new region." Settings>Region: "(0ms)" in red color.
| sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="1000 1000" | and | sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 2147483647" | didn't work. Also didn't work with "Proton Experimental" or "Proton 9.0-4"

Seems to be a network comunications issue after latest update.

Game works well, gamma settings do not work, and mouse sensitivity settings in game don't work as expected.
In game gamma setting has no effect

rarely missing marker textures in map
switching to experimental fixed steam overlay
I can't play because all regions are showing as invalid

Must change Post-Process Quality to Low in graphics settings.
Post-processing causes lighting artifacts if not set to low.
